Really funny, we got into tuttut liao that uncle in red still follow us, shouting to us that the 2 uncles r the real conman, we ....should ....have......believed....him! Appearances are deceiving!!!!

Following this stupid run and chase, we finally reach sakura GV and got a room. The 2 idiot uncles did not help us buy hotel voucher as promised and immediately proceed to ask us: "Want gal? Later go where eat?". START OF NIGHTMARE!!!

We newbies donno anything decided to follow someone whom we can communicate with. On the night before the trip, I could hardly sleep a wink as this is my virgin trip. As dawn begin to break, pack my bag and off to office. Around 4.30 pm receive call from my friend to get ready as they are coming on the taxi to pick the 2 of us to Golden mile. Upon reaching we went to register with the agency, as there’s still plenty of times we went around shopping (my friend brought some ‘raincoat’). Then have a drink at one of the shop (not bad a lot of thai women or puying around). Feeling a bit horny at that moment. Alright, time for my friend (A and T) to board the bus (we are not able to get the ticket from the same agency). Half an hour later my friend and me board the bus. We are now on our way to hatyai.

So they(A and T) left us, we ( Werrew and R) together with thaivisitor carry on with our mission. First stop, Jacky Karaoke, not much of puying that R fancied. As for me I have decide to rest for the day. We went to the next outlet, R saw someone he like and immediately book her for $1500 bath. During the viewing of puying, one of them was talking to Thaivisitor who I found not bad in term of look. So shortlist her. Feeling aching all over due to the long distance bus ride, Thaivisitor brought us to Apple saloon for massage. At saloon we met up with another 2 samster (Y and A who I can’t remember that nick) After massage, we bought food back to makan then it is time for A and R bonking session. I went back to sleep for the afternoon. At night went to one of the night market or pasar malam to shop around and eat. Samster Y called to meet up but was unable to meet up with him.

Morning, we went down to have breakfast then R decided to change his puying
So we head to the farm to look for his puying. After a few joint, R spotted a puying a very white one compare to the rest.

I thought only coastal areas are affected ? From what I saw in the news the earthquake originated from Indonesia and the result caused a Tsunami which trashed nearby coastal areas in Thailand and Malaysia as well.

Been watching closely the pictures being shown on BBC & CNN. They showed damage to Lee Garden Plaza. There were cracks on the buildings exterior walls. There was also debris on the ground. Looks like they have evacuated this building.

Day 1:

Arrived at H City Airport by Tiger Airways. Booked transport to Lovely Tours to get voucher for hotel. When I reached there at about 2030 hrs, Lovely Tours is already closed. So went opposite the road to Holiday Tours to get voucher. Take note that if you travel by Tiger Airways, you will not be able to get vouchers from Lovely Tours. Did not do much as it was raining heavily.

Day 2:

Booked a gal from Suriya. Decided to choose an older lady (ie 31 years old). Service is average, not much fun and she is always hinting for tips. Hence, not in the mood.

Day 3:

Nightmare begin. Went to See Kim Yong, Lily KTV. It is a corner KTV and I think the house number is 17. The OKT is Benny who claimed to be a S'pore Brother. Speaks reasonably good English and seem to be familiar with S'pore Streets and a very sweet talker. Introduce a "fresh" stock to me and told me that the service is excellent and will pay me double if the service is poor.

Brought her back. After less than 2 hours of company with me, she wanted to go off to meet her friends. Told her to be back latest by 5 pm. She only returned at close to 6pm. Took her out for expensive dinner and thinking that I could enjoy good time with her after that. After dinner, she said that she needs to meet her friend urgently downstairs. I told her to do it quick. She promised. She returned in half an hours time and said that she needs to leave and will only be back at 11pm or maybe later. I was pissed off, told her that this is not acceptable. Asked her who paid for her booking? Her friend or me? She insisted on leaving. I told her that she need not return.

When I looked for the OKT Benny, he just brushed me aside and asked me to take another girl for ST to test out. He will only charge me B$1200 for 2 hours. I told him off.

I was in Hatyai during the new year weekend. Normally, i would take a lady from one of the farms but that day, saturday, i decided to check out this place opposite Merlin hotel. It is called Cherry Lounge, its business hours is at night. Above it, is the Villa massage, a place where you can get a short time session for 1000baht. Reached this lounge around 10 something at night, after the liverpool-chelsea game. The place was dark and no other customers in there, perhaps i was early. Anyway, sat in and bought some drinks for myself and the two ladies that i called to sit with me. Later, i decide to take one of the ladies back to hotel for the night. Over night booking cost 2000baht. Total costs was about 2600baht. Back at the hotel room, we chit chat and 'Toon' claimed she was from Phatalung. Then, she received SMS, need to pass the apartment keys and will be back in an hour. I waited and waited. It was almost 2am, I went back to the lounge and the place was closed already. Damn! No bonk and i slept alone for the night. Sunday came and i had a long thought on this bitter issue, i decided to let it go and enjoy my last day in this city. Got a lady from Channivate area and she was a happier experience for me.

Well, moral of this experience is to stick to familiar or recommended places.

Many hotels on Thailand's west coast have been badly affected by the devastating Tsunami waves that struck shores on Sunday morning, 26 Dec 2004.

Below is a complete update of many of the hotels in the areas worst affected. It is important to remember that hotels on Thailand's East coast on the Gulf of Siam have not been affected, so hotels on Koh Samui, in Hua Hin, Cha-Am, Pattaya etc are all fucntioning as normal without any affects caused by the Tsunami.

Amanpuri The flooding destroyed the gym, beach and tour counters.
Amari Coral Beach Closed until further notice
Andaman Seaview Can operate with normal power and water supply, operating normally
Baan Thai Beach Resort Closed until further notice
Banyan Tree Operating normally, except beach restaurant
Burasari Closed until further notice
Cape Panwa The hotel only has minor damages to the beach and the road in front of the hotel (barely noticeable.)
Central Karon Village The flooding did not affect the hotel at all. The hotel operates as normal.
Club Andaman Beach Resort A few rental restaurants in the front of the hotel are totally demolished. The pool is closed and being repaired at the moment. The bungalows were partially flooded but people are now moving back in.
Chedi The swimming pool is damaged along with all the beach front bungalows and the beach restaurant.
Duangjitt Resort The big swimming pool is closed along with some rooms on the first floor.
Dusit Laguna All the rooms on the first floor, the swimming pool and two of restaurant (Italian/ Seafood) took a direct hit. The activities areas are gone and all the rooms on the 1st floor are closed. Everything else at the hotel is operating as usual.
Evason Phuket The pier was destroyed and the beach is ruined but the flood did not affect the hotel at all.
Felix Karon The flooding did not affect the hotel at all.
Hilton Phuket Arcadia The “Zen” Japanese restaurant is closed because of the damages as well as the staff parking lot. However, the flood did not affect the hotel at all since it is in the same shape as it was before the flood.
Holiday Inn Closed, can not accommodate any guests until Feb 28th
Horizon Beach Resort Closed until further notice
Impiana 100% damage, closed until further notice
JW Marriott No structural damage or fatalities, but swimming pool, pool bar and beachfront restaurant temporarily closed

I must admit this new lounge Buffalo Bar is going to be the next hottest lounge in Hdy. It operated lesser than a month (started probably in Dec) and yet to open officially but the place are crowded with locals. It is located opp Sugar Beat, near Choa Phraya 4 area.

Pretty class and elegantly renovated with a big bath tub alike at the center with beautiful barmaid sitting to accompany you for a drink. There are also pub's tall tables and cosy elegant sofa for you to choose. On entrance, we were greeted by a bunch of beautiful waiteress and the place still pretty quiet (its about 9pm). Saw lots of SYT walking all over the places in short pants with tight T, looks real yummy.

We got ourselve seated at cosy sofa at 2nd floor corner and the environment looks real refreshing and wonderful. As we are lead by one of the influential local who know the boss pretty well, so we seems to be get very friendly treatment. Very soon, a few dancers approach us to accompany us for a drink. Ladies drink cost only 150b and the ladies earn a little comm from it, but they are not pushy at all. After the first drink, they drink our whisky all night long, unlike those in Danuk who keep pushing you for ladies drink.

Laid my eye on the first dancer who got a tall, slim and bursting breast (should be a boost job). Got a waiteress to send her a bead necklace (as a form of appreciation replacing flower) for 100b. She came down to intro herself shortly after her dance. She looks more stunning when sitting beside me, speak a little English and pretty warm too.. offering kisses now and then. A dancer from BKK and all dancers rotate every 10 days between BKK, Danuk and Hdy. So, there will be always fresh blood and boobs.

2nd dancer came by accident, I could not recalled how she ended up introducing herself to us but everyone seems busy with their own stuffs, so she ended up sitting near me and I am busy on my mobile, lefting her cold and alone for quite awhile. Feeling bad and guilty, got her over to sit beside and starts a little chit chat. She is really warm and give me a very cozy feeling. Cheerful and bright, keep correcting my poor Thai.. hahahaha.. I really enjoy her companion. Invited her to join after disco, she is very anxious and excited, seems to be available for booking. I understand these dancers are available for booking, prices and details are neg between them and the client directly, the joint is not taking any share, expected to pay 3,000~5,000b but it is really worth better than SC price.

Too bad, I forgotten all about her when I went off to Paragon Disco.. until I recalled the next day but too bad, its my last day going off. Next time, next time will return for sure. Overall, I find this place is much entertaining than Kiss Lounge. You dont have to pay for hourly charge to sit, most of these dancers dressing much more revealing than those in Kiss, you can enjoy watching bikini dance and best of all, the prices are all reasonable. I am very very sure that these place will be flooded with cheongsters very very soon. I am discussing with the boss of the lounge for a discount, perhaps may see how could let bros here to enjoy discount too. Stay in tune.

Have not visited H City for more than 10 years. planning to visit on 15 Feb for a few days. can any brothers advise on the followings:-

a) i used to book hotel when i reach there. now that i plan to travel by tiger air and it arrives only at night, any suggestions for hotels in town? where can i book the hotel in advance?

b) where are the best hangout currently?

c) wat is the market rates for bookings?

d) as it was still within the 15 days of Chinese New Year, does most of the shops close during this period?

Hmm, cant really recalled the actual total bill as it was paid by several person. All I can remember is that a small bottle of beer is about 150b and a bottle of swing is 1,900b. Mixer like water and ice is not too ex, probably about 50b each time. Of course, we got 20% discount there. I understand that they will be introducing membership soon. Something like 10,000b for 5 bottles of liquor and then you will got a discount for future visit.

Water Bar is a lounge with bikini puyings dancing (mostly from BKK) and several of them are really model class and would work 5,000b booking overnight. They has a stage with central aquarium where these dancer will play with the waters during sexy dance and I understand there is bathing dance too at about midnight (but I did not stay on till that time). Within the dancing stage, there are barmaid to accompany you for drinks if you are seating at the bar. Damage are about close to any other joint, 150b for beers and 2,000b for liguor (Swing).

Kiss Lounge is the most posh KTV with the highest quality and widest ladies selection. They have main open hall with singers singing while you can get these ladies seat to accompany you for a drink and chit chat for 150b per hour. Kiss also has posh, cosy and well decorated KTV rooms for 1,500b per night or 500b/hour. Ladies O/N booking is from 2,900b (without BJ), 3,400b (with BJ) and 3,900b (model) and S/T is 1,000b (without BJ) and 1,500(with BJ). You could also book hours to bring her out to dinner and disco (900b till 2am thai). Best time to hit at 8pm as most of the better quality gals will be gone by 10pm. Official booking time will be till tomorrow 7am but it is all depends on the lady to stay longer.

If you are into night party, you should hit Paragon. Happening time from 11pm and you will find yourselve flooded with puyings all over. Of course, some are there to hunt for customers while some are really there for fun. Sometimes, you may find suprise hunt at night, these are usually kept ladies with sponsor that out for fun and dont mind to be bedded if found the right target. Tell any of the Managers there that you are my friend for 10% discount at least.

After you have been to these 2 joints, you just wont feel like touring normal farm. So, make sure you loaded with sperm and stock up your Magix to mae this trip a memorable one.

Unless if its a peak season or weekend, otherwise there are plenty of rooms in most hotel. At SGD40, you can try Sakura Grand View, 840b with hotel voucher .. the most value for money.

Here are some info about Blue Kiss. Pai seh, really cant recall where Blue Kiss located though been there almost like every other night for supper after disco bcos usually half drunk liao. I do remember there is signboard directing you over, not too difficult to find, somewhere near Kiss Chanel? Aiyah, just tell tuk tuk or your puying, they will know where it is.

It is basically a little elegant thai dining restaurant, its special bcos it could operate till 5am thai and it's own by the same boss who own Kiss Chanel & Kiss Lounge. Chances are high you will met quite a lot of Kiss's ladies there after disco with their customers and also those who did not have booking. I believe this is the reason that attract the crowd. And if you happen to book a Kiss lady out and not early bird type, she would probably bring you here. She can get 10% discount for you or for herself ;).

The food are reasonably good (well it taste the same when you are half drunk) and pretty cheap (in consideration with its surrounding and renovation), almost close to the price like normal small shops. The only thing that I dont like is that the place is fucking noisy, probably bcos most of them are half drunk anyway and also its toilet really far, got to walk out of the building to a corner. If you drink too much beer that night, good luck to you.

Well, if the night is too late and all disco is closed.. I guess this could be your last hunting ground or you can check out those after hour KTV. So far, I know there is 2 - Piano (Opp Daichi) and Poshe (beside Sakura GV). There could be more but have not much chance to check them out yet. Bro, its not somewhere near Kiss Channel but you can probably walk to Blue Kiss from Kiss lounge (See Kim Yong) if you're sober enough.

This thread is very useful but some of the information is outdated as time goes by. I hope there will be more discussion on current cheong places about Hatyai. Let me start off with some contribution. I will only review those places I have physically been too. Let's touch upon more as we go along.

1. Emperor - Heineken at 150B. 300B surcharge for bringing in your own liquor. Too dark and loud. A hassle to pick up freelancers here. Seems like 'shake head' paradise similiar to Atmosphere in KL.
2. Paragon - Big venue. Cashier is cute! Heineken at 150B. 300B surcharge for bringing in your own liquor Too dark and loud. A hassle to pick up freelancers here. Seems like 'shake head' paradise similiar to Atmosphere in KL.
3. Sugarbeat - Live band playing Thai pop rock songs. Followed by hip hop and pop songs to dance to. Drink prices are cheap. No surcharge for bringing in your own liquor.
4. Water Bar - Lady drinks for bar ladies or dancers are 150B each. 100B for pearl necklace to give as tips. 300B surcharge for bringing in your own liquor. I don't like this place as they hustle you too often to buy lady drinks or the peak necklaces.

Karaoke Farms (Chaiyakul Uthit Road Vicinity):
1. Andrew Karaoke - Played out by OKT Ah Vee on my booking. Any bros have bad experience with this place? 1500B/2000B. Longtime.
2. J.K. Pub - 1500B/2000B/5000B. Longtime.

Seems like not much Karaoke farms around this area. Business must be bad?

Restaurants:
1. Restaurant opposite Chaophya 4 - What's the name as it's in Thai. Just beside Water Bar. Good food and live band.

Soapy Massage:
1. Chaophya 4 - Best quality in Hatyai. Thumbs up! 1400B/1600B/1800B/2500B. 1.5 hours.
2. Pink Lady Complex - Quality is bad here. 1300B/1600B. 1.5 hours. The cafes and lounges are lifeless. Sky lounge on top floor is already closed.

Observations:
Seems that the lounge in Sakura is happening around 11pm onwards. Also some ladyboys hustling for business along Niphat Uthit 2 Road after 12am. I was molested by one. Almost puked.

In regards to hotel accommodation. Does anyone like to stay around the 'central area' such as Indra Hotel? It seems to me that it's a perfect location for me to go anywhere. The daily shopping at Niphat Uthit 2 and 3 Road and Robinson Dept Store are all within walking distances.

Some people don't mind to pay the 10 baht to take tuk tuk to wherever they want to go. That's why Indra hotel, despite the so-called convienience, is never fully occupied.

There are Hatyai maps easily available. Knowing the road names does not equate to knowing everything. I am not entirely familiar with the coverage of the See Kim Yong farms area. Thus asking for advise. If you feel that this is a stupid question. Then I have nothing to say.

Of course even for those without a budget problem, HDY proves to be a wonder.

I suggest u skip Danok and head straight for HDY.
U can get almost everything here.

Thanks, I thought so too, easier to move around Hatyai since I have been there before. Only thing was that I met one of the "old timers" and he remarked that Hatyai is now a "cowboy town" and most of the puyings have migrated to Danok. Thanks again!

We went for a short visit to Danuk also, which was quite an eye opener. On average there are much more swts (average age around 18-23) around and the agogo bar opens as early as 4pm. We didn't get much time to explore how much is it to book the girls out but they have a flower system where you can purchase flowers for the girl you like for 200thb and they'd come to sit next to you. Ladies drinks cost 100thb. Most of the girls allow you to raba raba here and there and even remove their tank tops. I believe they can be booked also but we only stayed for 1 hour so not much time to find out. Bro TV took some pics of the swts so do wait for it :)

Most of the Danok WL will move to hunt for customers in Hdy, mostly in discos like Paragon. Only one disco in Danok but its meant for head shaker only. Only few street to roam in Danok, search my FR and thats about all the wonders that you could find.

Hatyai will surely lose to Danok on Happy Hour wild fun and in fact, Hdy night life start happening after 10pm. So it's a good match for heavy cheongster to cheong Danok in the late noon and then return Hdy for night party. Disco till 2am and then continue to private room in KTV till 6am or 7am should not be a problem. But then Hdy has much better overall facilities and much more choices than you could find in Danok.

Not a bad experience to have a Happy Hour in Danok for at least once, but got your mental prepared as this is really a cowboy town with touts keep calling and escorting you while you roaming on the street.

Well, according to him, he made the trip to Hdy then cut it short and went to Danok when he realised it was "cowboy town". Anyway, since i dun have much time in hand for venturing new places, I'd rather go somewhere familiar. Anyone can advise if Hdy is safe, I mean with the mess going on in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat? I only plan to stay within Hdy city itself, meaning probably about 3km radius of Lee Garden Plaza.

I would aviod Lee Garden Plaza area if you are concern with Safety, whenever any big plan, it is always an prominent target. I would rather stay out of the city heart and crowd.

it take average 45 mins at 80km/h from Hdy to Danuk. Even if you speed at night, its unlikely to reach in 25 mins.

Hi all,

Juz came back from the border trip, I think that town called "Changlun", juz immediately after the immigration of Thailand from Bukit Kayu Hitam Malaysia.

It seems like that town started to live again...

Big pub like "Bangkok", "Paragon" and "Sypder" is always crowded, with sexy dance shows everwhere.

For those who wanted to cheong over there, here's the advise... My experience...

Advise 1
It's always safer to book gals from fish tank. Negotiate the price before buying fish.

Advise 2
Never buy fish from those "mamasan" on motor bikes, I kena conned by the "mamasan".

Advise 3
Some Karaoke girls are sweet and told that will see you after finished work, but always plan for alternative route...

Advise 4
Never pay before any services, especially you get your fish from Discos.

Advise 5
For those who use mobile phone, you can always choose to roam with Malaysian station, I think it's cheaper. (manual network select: Maxis, Digi, & Celcom). I even used my Malaysian Maxis number during my 2 days stay there.

Advise 6
Oliver is a nice & spacious hotel near to major happenings, room rate is RM70 (less than S$35) per nite. Juz in front of "Paragon". Don't trust anyone telling you that "xxx hotel is full, try this one".

Hopefully these advises will be helpful for those who like to cheong at the border.

Is called Danok. Changlun is a small town (less than 30 mins to/frm Danuk) that you pass before coming to the BKH point. Juz for ur info, Danok has been developing steadily as most samster here can verify. Quite number of good hotels that caters every budget frm Rm25 & abv. That unfortunate incident (kena con) happens once to everyone. So no big deal. A lesson to be learn.
If search the Danok archives, many useful info contribute by bros here will help you to fruitful cheonging.
For alternatives, try the massage parlours. Ask for room service where u can check privately if the she's 'avaliable'. Bear in mind with the recent bombing n unrest in Southern side, these days ppl flock to Danok than Hadyai. Guess should things get 'hairy', can always climb over the gate n run to M'sia side after midnight. Did that once when I was 'high' but that's another story.

I have visited a regular for ON bookings, you know those bringing her out, chit chat, eat eat, shopping then go back hotel, bonk like rabbits in Hatyai.

Lost her contact and couldn't find her anymore in Hatyai more than a year ago and who knows, I found her in one of the legal Cat40 houses in Geylang recently. I am like, "WOW! Like that also kio, if tio toto also this lucky, then I really lucky ba bee bee liao."

So, very soon, she becomes my tirak in Singapore but it's so much more expensive these days to meet her, in those Cat40, extend until my limbs went soft but she kinda make it up to me in other ways.

Court interrupts brothel love story

Singapore - A man who bought freedom for a Thai woman trapped in a Singapore brothel so he could marry her has gone to the High Court to stop the deportation of his wife-to-be, news reports said on Saturday.

Wai Keen Weng, 31, and Amue Athu, 24, were due to wed last year, but Amue was arrested in October when she tried to extend her social visit pass. She was jailed for one year after pleading guilty to returning to the city-state despite being banned from the country.

Wai has been battling to free her and stop the deportation. His lawyer, RS Bajwa, petitioned the court on Friday for Amue's conviction to be quashed, The Straits Times reported.

Bajwa argued that she should not have been banned from entering Singapore in 2004 as she was a victim of human trafficking who had been coerced into working in the city-state as a prostitute.

Bajwa also said that Amue had unwittingly pleaded guilty because she could not understand the court proceedings. She belongs to the Akha hill tribe, which lives in the province of Chiang Rai in northern Thailand and has its own language.

The case was adjourned until Tuesday.

Wai, who works in his parents' advertising business, first met Amue on his birthday in May last year, the report said. He helped her escape from the brothel two months later.

"Meeting her on my 31st birthday was the best present and hopefully she can be released in time for my 32nd" in May, he was quoted as saying.

Is the price you pay OVERNIGHT or LONG-TIME, ? That is definitely NOT the standard for booking PRC OVERNIGHT in Kuala Lumpur unless if you are talking about freelancers. BUT that is NOT what we are talking about. Am now in Hatyai. Surfing at 20b an hr. Its next to the police station further down from new Sakura towards Janivaite. My first trip was in the 80s. Pussy then was 30sgd equivalent. Syts the norm then. Now prices have gone up to 1500 for older women. Hatyai more like place for retired guys. Less fish tanks also. Gone are farms at Thai Hotel and Klong Toey at the other side of the railway track. Hatyai economy was then based on chicken farms supporting the rest of the economy. Tuk-tuks are everywhere and price then was 5b. Now a motorcycle pillion ride is 20b.
At least massage prices has remained the same or even cheaper. A massage coupon is only 180b. I can now afford to give 100b tip and pay an extra 200b for nuts pull massage. Just ask for the Lao Zhi and not a fake one.
For short time, one can go to Atami Turkish bath. 600b for bathe and fuck. I found the same girl I booked almost 7 years ago. She hardly changed her looks and still looked below 20yrs. The nearby backlanes are for Thais. I didn't explore as it was too late then.
Bak Kut Tehs shops are everywhere. The ones at center town areas are expensive at 80b. They whack you 10b for rice and another 10b for Thai yutiao. But there is a corner shop behind Daiichi Hotel where you get generous portion for same money. The Thais have narrowed down our tastebuds so you can find pork leg rice (kow kah mu), pork porridge with generous portions of meatballs and spare parts and finally cheng theng with rainbow hues of boiled nuts and dried fruits. Prices are all around 30b. 40b is for tourists so one should bargain. My favourite is Teochew muay but don't go as a group or bring fuying along. Kenna chop head at 730b. Went back alone, order half the dishes and now pay 110b. Pays to be thick skinned so ask for prices first. My favourite is the braised duck (should only be 40b) and stirred fried kailan with roast pork (40b also). Dimsum here must be the cheapest at 10b per serving. Try the one a few shops from Grassland agent (lovely tour) towards new sakura. Their loss leaders are hakow and siewmai but these are not on display. Go pick yourself.
Their hardware shops are something to drool over. Solid air pistols at 300b each. Can only fondle them. Don't try to smuggle them or cuffs back. Backside caned for sure. Loupes are common here with different sizes. Lots of thais amulets collectors. Bought one for 100b. I paid 15 bucks for the same one in Singapore.
Borrowed a bike and went to Songkla. It now have 2 scenic bridges linking an island in between. I went back via the motorised ferry and went to samila beach for seafood. All seafood costs 100b a serving. Its not cheap but what the heck!
Be careful of the roads. They narrow down suddenly without any warning lights. Tripped and skidded over the gravel. Friendly Thais helped me to the hospital. The Haadyai Bangkok Hospital is a private hospital with first class facilities. Had x-ray done, no broken bones just bad cuts that needs daily dressing. Hospital bill came up to 5000b+. Be warned Thai roads are deceptive. Play safe by riding behind the locals who know all the traps and potholes. Most ride slowly for the same reason.
Many thanks to fellow brothers for their tips. Save money by booking at tour outlets for hotels and massages. Exchange rates are very good also. SG dollars very much in demand. I patronise the grassland shop (lovely tours). The counter staff are good looking so every day I go back and buy one coupon each time. But Grassland bus is now old and not as comfortable. I always enjoy long bus rides so if there is a good bus to recommend please share.

Warning over fake ringgit in Southern Thailand

The Thai Association of Foreign Exchange is warning the public about the widespread of use of fake foreign currencies in Thailand, particularly in the southern provinces, where Malaysian ringgit is the most commonly faked note

Chanaporn Poonsuphirun, the association’s president said the counterfeit ringgit notes are very realistic, so difficult to differentiate from the real thing.

She said fake ringgit notes are being discovered from Chumphon down to the border with Malaysia, due to high numbers of Malaysian visitors to Southern Thailand.

Other fake currencies found in Thailand include Indian rupee and United Arab Emirates dirham.

She said the association is trying to educate employees working in exchange shops in the South to detect fakes. It is also training personnel in exchange shops nationwide about cancelled banknotes, so they avoid accepting notes that are no longer usable.

Currently, there are around 1,300 exchange shops operated under licences granted by the Bank of Thailand but there are also more than 1,000 shops operated without licences. The association is planning to work with the Central Bank to draw these unlicensed shops back into the legal system.

Ms Chanaporn said there is currently a shortage of specialist staff in the industry, because it takes at least two or three years to train a person in examining foreign banknotes. She said the base salary for a skilled worker should be between 20,000-30,000 baht a month.

The association said many businesses are competing against one another for skilled staff, so are attempting to attract the best workers through employee incentives such as profit sharing.
