Most of us may be a little shy in going there but let me share my recent experience and hope all can do our part to prevent STI.

It all begin with a phone call to book appointment, no appointment ones will wait longer but still can go lah.. The person picking up the call sounded quite normal like booking appointment at anyother clinic.

when u are there on the appointment day, if u r paiseh or shy to walk in thru the front door. you may choose to discreetly go up the mutli storey carpark, and walk down the leftmost staircase. there is a door on the ground floor that directly leads into the clinic.

once go into, take a Q number and wait for the reception to call your number. there should be many other bros waiting by now, so theres no need to paiseh! jus act normal! haha

I notice that even when your number is called and while sitting at the front desk, the staffs never look you directly into the eyes. I guess there are all trained to make patients as confortable as possible.

Mostly all patients will be sreened by the male nurse first, to check your sexual history, the nurse are just like any of our friends and they speak our lingo... They used alot of word like 'cum' 'suck', etc.... they make u feel jus like telling your friend yr problem... Thumbs up to them..

after that, depending on your situation, u may be needed to take test or see the doctor.. well, by this time you should not feel paiseh anymore.

My main point is to let bros here noe that, its really not a paiseh thing to visit there.. actually v convenient and professional healthcare clinic.

Hi, I don't recommend Tay Clinic. According to my friend who consulted Dr Tay and the feedback he is very impatient and charged expensively. There is a lady doctor in Anteh Dispensary and she is thorough and the charges are more reasonable. Also do avoid Shim Clinic, the lab tests come to $497 and you have to pay for medicine separately.

DSC has a night clinic once a week. Do visit its website and you will not regret.

I spoke to the dsc people over the phone to clarify, they say they will keep it confidential within dsc only, not even ministry of health would know bout you.. But I think if u r tested positive, they would require your spouses to be tested as well.

Dsc is usually quite pack. I would think you need a good 1.5 hours for everything to be done. If u make appointment u can go ahead of everyone else who didn't make appointment.. U can jump queue so to speak.

Since you visited on a Saturday, it should be AFA clinic. Thus, the word you heard from the counter staff and the counselor is Syphilis, not STD. And I guess what the counselor had explained to you is that Syphilis is a 'booster virus' as Syphilis-infected people will have a higher chance to receive HIV infection.

I went last thurs and was asked the usual questions, when was the last time u had sex, how many regular, how many pros etc.....the male asked & key everything in as a matter fact.

However, when i went into consultation room, 1 male registrar (trainee specialist) & a male MO (fresh doc, which it shows on his blur & bookworm face) was sniggering when he heard my answers on the number of regular partners i have & total number of lifetime partners.

I sniggered too, that this bookworm will never even have 5% of my score. Big boy in doc coat :)


Seek treatment early, will render it cheap & easily cured plus less suffering.

I went to dsc recently too for the first time... initially I felt Paiseh but after a while I didn't really care liao cos all bros and sis came here for the same reason.

yes they do. you cannot conclude that you are free from std just because u do not have any symptoms after a month. the only way to be sure is to get yourself tested.

I just had a visit to DSC recently too,after seeing signs of redness on my penis tip and experiencing pain while urinating. These happened 1 week after my last bonk with a WL. I saw a normal GP first,took 1 round of antibiotics but the redness still there after a week.The GP suspected it might be Gonorrhea or Chlamydia. She initially wanted to do pte tests which easily amounted to $300++, and I was shocked, so she recommended me to DSC,which is cheaper.

Made my way down to the clinic where the nurses and doctor(both are males, no chio bu doc leh) served me. They asked about my recent sex encounter-any AJ sex,what did I last do?-and I answered truthfully. Last encounter was 2 weeks back and even though the doc recommended taking the HIV test as well, the nurse said I'm was in the middle of nowhere. Hence, I didn't do the HIV test. Because I didn't hold my urine for 4 hours beforehand, no swab test was done. Instead, I was asked to provide urine sample and to take 2 weeks of antibiotics. My follow up was 2 weeks later,after the antibiotics were over.

That day came and I went down to DSC for follow up, had to hold urine for 4 hours this time-cause they need to take a swab test. Urine results-no signs of STD. Results of swab test-all clear. Felt total relief (actually I was expecting some bad news and the nurse laughed when I said 'so this means I can have sex again?' haha :D)...will be going for my HIV test next week as it's 4 weeks. Hope all will be clean too.

Conclusion: Good service,very different from other PH (not public holidays but public hospitals lah!). They called you by number and in the consultation rooms,the staff addressed you by your family name. The nurses are friendly and as what many bros say here,they do not give you those 'looks'-bros will know what I mean.

Tried it once before, its pretty fast and no frills. Although they put $30, but if you go during the timing where the van is located, they don't normally charged money, cos they are doing more of awareness program to get people to come forward to be tested.

The whole session lasted the most 30 mins, cos the results of the blood test takes around 15 - 20 mins to know. During the time, the staff will just share some knowledge about protection and brief you about the procedures of the test.

So if bros here are keen, just check where the van will be and make your way there lor. At least another source of place to get tested.

Actually if you guys are worried about going to DSC, can try the mobile testing site by AFA.

Tried it once before, its pretty fast and no frills. Although they put $30, but if you go during the timing where the van is located, they don't normally charged money, cos they are doing more of awareness program to get people to come forward to be tested.

The whole session lasted the most 30 mins, cos the results of the blood test takes around 15 - 20 mins to know. During the time, the staff will just share some knowledge about protection and brief you about the procedures of the test.

So if bros here are keen, just check where the van will be and make your way there lor. At least another source of place to get tested.

the swab test pain anot?

The swab test not painful...but a bit uncomfortable lor,esp when the nurse puts it in your dick,abit like ant bite I think haha..just imagine those plastic spoons you see at starbucks (but still much smaller), the nurse uses it to collect some 'sample' from your dick,then perform some test (what test I dunno). Wait about 20min, answer is out.

Important thing is to hold your pee for 4 hours beforehand...that,to me, was the difficult part...haha..imagine I forced myself not to drink (for fear of peeing during the 4 hours) and avoid looking at the toilet bowl (scare mentally I will give in to my pee :o) haha

Side track...do they give free condoms if you take the test at the van? When I went to the testing at DSC,they gave out free condoms...packaging not bad,my friend thought it was some sweet...haha :D

Registrar is machiam OC and the Medical Officer is machiam PC. :D

they even send a cute syt go inside the clinic ask ppl do survey.

Consultant = specialist
Registrar = trainee consultant
MO = qualified doctor with a few years of clinical experience
HO = doctors who has just gotten license, less than 1yr. P-plate.

When it was my turn I went in really is her. And there is no one else around, no nurse or anyone. Wondering if any bro thot abt this: what's he difference between getting tested at DSC and a family clinic?
I thot if I get tested at a family clinic - I could ask them to generate a non-specific bill and claim it with my company. Will never be able to do that with a DSC bill - thoughts? Do I give up too much on privacy by doing that?

I think there isnt a need to claim.

The AFA van charges $30 per HIV test, they will not take your information whatsoever.
Furthermore, if you can't make the van timings you can visit their lab at Kelantan lane (next to DSC clinic), open on tues and wed evenings.

During this month, they only charged me $10 as December is HIV Awareness Month.

For this small fee, there isnt a reason to give your name to your family doctor nor have records at DSC.

Then after that, you will need to go for consueling, my consueling consultant is a girl, feel good, asked me what makes me want to do a check etc, I just explain as it is. But I realise my exposure is only 1 week old, so not very accurate, most people need at least 4 weeks to be able to detect. Opps, but never mind, since I didn't check before, just check lah!

Then after that, you need to go to another room, oh my.....it's a SYT pricking my finger, her figure is good, but I shy to look too long la, she is very friendly asking me paint or not and told me don't worry, everything is between us in here. After this, you need to wait 15mins for the results.

Oh forget to mention, there was a couple going in there also, wah the girl damn chio and sweet accompanying his bf to check, she even want to go in to the conseling room but was rejected.

Hmmm funny how come never see any girl for checkup, maybe that is only for guy? Anyway just to share my experience.

Once I went there ... the doctor that was doing the check up for me .. is a chio gal and she was wearing a big diamond ring.

Then she asked me to show her my little brother ... wah lau ... feel paiseh. Was thinking ... maybe like those porn movie "Doctors adventure" will happen .. LOL!!

The last time I went for a check up .. for everything since I was there but I thought that I kana Gonorrhoea / NGU. So went to do a screening ... when seeing the doctor .... he asked .... you really feel burning sensation when you pee? Got discharge?

I thought again ... and told him think I did encounter and found discharge. Unless those discharge are my sperm lah. Anyway he told me that I am clear and ok, nothing.

I told him ... then nevermind lor .... good and left.

So I do encourage regular screening.
