I would advise you not to do a crash course at some random beach destination .

getting the basics right is important .

why don't you take the dive course in Singapore , get certified and go for a dive expedition .

Better do the course here. Too many people died because the foreign operators cut corners. I think the last guy died because the oxygen tank is faulty.

Once you have the cert here and know how to take care of yourself, you can then venture overseas. Anyway, a single lady doing scuba diving courses should find it very easy to get to know guys. There is no need to bring your own man. :p

Just saw your post and information is a little sketchy. Would you mind to share more in detail on the kind of male company you are looking for besides the age? Maybe share a bit about yourself as well?

Also, you might want it consider getting certified in padi locally first before doing an open dive in the sea overseas. If you are starting from scratch, starting to with pool dives under supervision will help you acclimatize to the sport and it's also safer

BTW the trip will postponed till June 2014. Things seem to moving slower than I expected. And I have not decided who is going with me, YET.

Was in Redang 2 yrs ago for 1week ( no nite dives cos party /chill out makes more sense! Haha ) Awesome dive place but if you are taking coach then the journey will take 12hrs + ferry. I took flight and only takes an hr to reach but still need ferry to reach the island.

Went Maldives diving 2 months ago and stay for a week. Another paradise & romantic beach! If you like Bora Bora, try Seychelles! Been there and love it! And Bali is my all time fav diving +chill out+ food+ shopping!!! ;)

Trust me, you will meet kakis when diving. :)

My Humble opinion: start with a few potential ones by meeting for coffee, movie etc first. Get to know each other more. Make sure both of you can click, then u go with the most suitable one. It'll be a terrible experience if both of you go and basically just Doing own things after allthis. Will feel Like Going overseas alone. Might just spoil everything. ;) Best of luck!
