From a smoker's with kids point of view is that I can vape in front of them not worrying about the second hand smoke. The kids don't mind as I don't smell when talking to them, unlike just after smoking when they'll say I stink.

Also, there are a lot of different flavours to find what suits you.

The thing is that it is illegal cos the government does not know how to tax it. So in return, they banned it.

Vape and mods do look cool and maybe they are afraid kids will pick up the habit. But then again, smoker's put a pack of ciggies on the table, can they guarantee that they kids won't steal one stick to try? It's all about education from the parents. What to do and not to do.

There are tons of articles to show that vaping is a safer option than cigarette smoking. In fact, I can safely say I won't expose my kids to 4000 over harmful chemicals.

I think the initial phase is the toughest part to vaping.

As my body was adjusting to it, I kept coughing and developed ulcers.

Damn shame they ban both liquid and vape, it's a much better alternative to regular ciggs or quitting. Alot of young ones use it for other stuff which I can see why it's another reason for banning. Quite a few online local dealers openly selling on popular apps who I think are either young, stupid or a combination of both.

Anyways, if you do vape, don't hold back and buy the cheap liquid, it tastes like stale ass. Used it a while back when I knew someone that made good money brewing it.

Not only the e-juice....the coil and wicks need to be replaced often too. Really difficult to maintain in SG

For RBA assemblies, you can replace the coil and wicks on your own.

For Juice, I home-brew. Food grade VG/PG is easily available in SG/online, and as for flavors, depending on what you're looking for, normal cooking flavorings work well. (check the vaping forums for more details - figuring out which flavorings work and which dont is a small art by itself) I'm using it as a cig replacement so I vape on no nicotine.

Those supplies are not regulated by law (just normal resistance wire and cotton). Can easily find local re-sellers and the price is decent.

Been Vaping on and off since 2011.

Piece of advice for smokers - It really really helps to cut down/quit analogs, but, with the end goal of quitting smoking, you will need to slowly tune down the nicotine content of the juice bit by bit.

For beginners, I strongly recommend taking a look across the causeway at this particular mod called the Kanger SUBOX Mini Black Starter kit. Brilliant tank and mod design, decently priced and very compact. The tank comes with a RBA as well so no worries about parts. Pricing should be between RM 270-300.

For seasoned vapers, go check out the Uwell Crown and it's RBA. My only grouse would be that they don't come together, but other than that it's a brilliant sub ohm top filling tank.

1.RBA/RTA- ReBuildable Atomizer - These usually have a tank that holds liquid, so you don't have to refill your liquid as quickly as an RDA. You still build your own coils/wicks, but isn't as easy to replace/change/modify as an RDA.

2.RDA- Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer ,You directly drip e-liquid on the wick/coil, it does not hold a lot of liquid at a time. Have to re-fill' liquid more often, but easier to make and change out coils, wicks, and customize the Ohm output.It is said that RDA will have get u more flavas and clouds.

Note-I personally prefer RBA OVER RDA,it all boils down to personal preference and when it comes to vaping we can categorize vapers into two main category.

1.Cloud Chasers-These guys are in it for the cloud,cloud addicts they call it,they
like vaping for the amount of vapour form.

2.Flavour Chasers-The name says it all

Heres how a RDA or simply known as dripper looks like

U basically open the top and drip some liquid on the wicks close it and vape.Some like it but im more of a tank man myself.

Previously I stated that the subox mini starter kit is the hottest starter kit out there,heres my take on it.

Size-Pocket Size,its relatively small and fits in your pocket easily

Power- Up to 50 watts(when starting u rarely vape till 50,mostly around the range of 20-30 watts only.so ample power here.

Battery-Removable 18650 battery and you can charger using a micro usb cable

Tank-Holds 4.5ml liquid and probably last u a day worth of vape.

Verdict-I would say the only downside of this starter kit is the mod.It doesnt have temperature control where u can vape on nickel and titanium coil which I feel is the direction all vapers are driving at but if you dont mind that den sure go for it.Theres an even smaller version of it now.


The tank which is called the subtank mini is awesome.Easy to deal with ,not much complication.You can always buy the tank seperately and have a temperature control mod of a different kind.

As for starter mods , like has been said before in this thread you really cant go wrong with a Kanger Subox kit , its like the honda fit of vapes

Vapes and juice are hard to get in singapore sadly but the other knick-knacks you need are fairly easy to find in sg (Cotton,Kanthal,Batteries)

If anyone needs some tips on building rbas or reccomendations on what mods to get feel free to ask , Some of the JB shops tend to be abit dodgy reccomending shitty stuff to clear stocks or passing off clones as legit stuff

check around and research before getting one. Tanks are mostly the same, difference lies only in amount of liquid storage, number of coils, design, wicking of the RBA. Mods difference lies in the wattage as well as firing speed of the mod.

Yeap the prices of ciggs in malaysia now is ridiculous,they losing alot of taxes due to the popularity of vaping and instead of lowering the prices of ciggies to make it more appealing they increase the prices.I would reckon more ppl would entirely swap to vaping due to the increment.I heard that the ciggs sales drop 60 percent.Thats alot.Now I bet they are devicing a plan to tax e liquids.

If leak through airflow means you wick wrongly or that your cotton is stuck when you doing RTA. If you do it correctly there is no leak.

Nice to see this Vape discussion and the various sharing of information, for me, those who intend to start vaping, do get a better kit as getting a starter kit will surely make you want more after few days, for those who want more cloud, get a sub-tank (occ, or those with twin coil) and for who want a feel that are similar to analog, try get 1 that are single coil, reason being those twin coil will always be much more airy and single coil will be slightly more restricted and thus the analog feel

For starter, i would suggest the IPV2D mod for starter, small and powerful, as for the RBA, its up to individual

Between the side effects of e-cig (which varies from person to person) and from traditional cig (which affects *all* smokers), I'll pick e-cig.

Been vaping for years, and after trying many, many, many types - the above side effects you mentioned wholly depend on the juice and individual. I got dry skin when using afew certain juice brands. So be very picky of the juice brand.

The above side effects are mostly due to the ejuice content being hygroscopic (absorbs water), and depending on the individual's body, the person may feel thirsty, have dry(er) facial skin (around the sinus areas - nose, cheeks, lower forehead, brows), etc. The extreme being minor bloody nostrils (excessively dry).

So choose the right eJuice brand suitable to oneself per se and such effects shall be unnoticeable . That's all. Beats your lungs, air-pipes and heart turning black from traditional cig.

For those interested and intend on buying the started kit i would simply tell you not to waste your money and get the advance ones.

Why?
Once you start and know how to rebuild your own tank be it RBA or OCC tank, its as simple as that. Where to learn? Youtube or the sellers.

I own both a starter kit and a ipv4s.

For tanks its up to your choice and do research before buying.

Points to take note seriously, you may wish to practice safety as i have experience with my own kakis whos tank exploded or glass crack during vaping.

All these are due to tanks which they modify themselves. There are various tank brands. But take note are they single or double coils. if they are single please do not risk yourself and try to be a smart alex to do a double coil system. Its possible but the risk is high.

You may heard of vaporizers explode? well thats why.

Kangertech subtank mini are best for beginners to learn how to set up their own coil and wicking. Zephyrus is suitable for advance and expert users who want to build dual coils.

Kangertech = single coil
Zephyrus = double coil

stay by these rules and u be fine.

Coils come in many metal elements, titanium, nickle, stainless stell etc...
before buying your own coils know which metal supports your tank. this is also to be considered for safety.

mY PAINFUL LESSON was using a titanium coil. It snap in my kangertech tank and a piece of it ended in my tongue. & yes to this day it still bear a mark on my tongue. learn which support which & u be good to go.

Changing the cotton and wicking almost daily.
changing coils every other week.
and the time taken to dismante wash and service your tank.

Being a heavy a menthol pack a day, i actually vape and dont feel the need to smoke that often. Heck the last time i bought a pack was 2 weeks ago and havent touched it.

Personal experience with vaping.

Cheaper in the long run.
What people don't tell you about quitting smoking, you might get ulcers more frequently.
You are vaping more nicotine because it is not "satisfactory" enough.
I remember my device breaking and I end up having to smoke 3 packs of cigarettes in a day because of that. I could not control it. It was not enough. I think this is how cigarettes work : The tar and nicotine stores in your lungs and it is slowly absorbed by your body, giving you the 'satisfaction' lasting for an hour or so. When you vape, it is a direct nicotine hit to your brain.
It is easier to get nicotine poisoning if you vape.

Nicotine causes DNA damage, it is negligible if you eat right and live healthy but when you vape, you are getting a whole lot more nicotine than a cigarette smoker.
Think of it this way, the body can repair most of what you do to it, but when you pile it up with poison (Nicotine, Aspartame found diet coke, artificial sweetener that when consumed over time can mimic symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis) over the years, things will haywire.


Mind you, this is all just personal experience.

I recommend you smoke cigars if you want to keep your lungs 'clean', you don't inhale cigars, the nicotine gets absorbed through the linings of your mouth because the smoke of a mainstream cigar when smoked is alkaline.
If you really want to use a vape to quit, get a low strength liquid, take one puff after each meal and be done with it.
Or get nicotine patches (free if you are in NS).
Or use nicotine patches and vape nicotine free liquids.

For DIY, you'll need these:

1. Propylene Glycol
2. Glycerin
3. Sucralose / Stevia / Ethyl Maltol (for sweetness)
4. Flavour (around 5 - 15%)

Some people try these:
1. Vanilin
2. Citric Acid / Malic Acid (for sourness)
3. Menthol / Chiller (for coolness)


A major kaki revealed his method for sweeteners -
- Too much sucralose - burn the coil
- Too much Stevia - bitter
- too much Ethyl Maltol - no taste

Thus the best is to blend a few type of sweeteners to get a balance.

For RBA assemblies, you can replace the coil and wicks on your own.

For Juice, I home-brew. Food grade VG/PG is easily available in SG/online, and as for flavors, depending on what you're looking for, normal cooking flavorings work well. (check the vaping forums for more details - figuring out which flavorings work and which dont is a small art by itself) I'm using it as a cig replacement so I vape on no nicotine.

Those supplies are not regulated by law (just normal resistance wire and cotton). Can easily find local re-sellers and the price is decent.

Been Vaping on and off since 2011.

Piece of advice for smokers - It really really helps to cut down/quit analogs, but, with the end goal of quitting smoking, you will need to slowly tune down the nicotine content of the juice bit by bit.

For beginners, I strongly recommend taking a look across the causeway at this particular mod called the Kanger SUBOX Mini Black Starter kit. Brilliant tank and mod design, decently priced and very compact. The tank comes with a RBA as well so no worries about parts. Pricing should be between RM 270-300.

For seasoned vapers, go check out the Uwell Crown and it's RBA. My only grouse would be that they don't come together, but other than that it's a brilliant sub ohm top filling tank.

Just some pricing breakdown for guys looking into vaping.

A starter kit which consist of the mod, tank, rba & battery + 1 juice cost about 300rm

A mod with temperature control cost about 300rm
A 6ml tank such as the "smoke tfv4" or "uwell crown" cost about 170rm with rba
A good 3200 battery cost about 30rm/pc, a TC mod normally needs 2 pc.
A charger cost about 50rm

So the difference between a starter kit and TC mod is about 200rm more but trust me, its worth it.
Bigger/better mod allows u to use different coil and higher voltage to vape, thus bringing out better favors.
I got friends that brought the starter kit and they actually brought another better mod within a month.

& of cos u need to get the juice which cost about 35rm to 50rm for malaysia juice OR
about 90 to 130rm for USA juice.

I personally got all my stuff in JB, do note the new law kicks in and bringing all these "equipment" in will cost a huge fine.
