In contrast, the under-used Maxi Rodriguez has four in his limited opportunities and Raul Meireles, shunted out of the back door, managed five in half a season under Dalglish last year. That Downing, a £20 million winger, has neither scored nor created a league goal is an extraordinary embarrassment.

food for thought? :)

It's painfully obvious to all Pool fans.

Never mind if they don't score, they don't even play well consistently. Local youngsters like Kelly and Spearo play better than them. Of cos, Maxi not even having a place on the bench for most matches is a huge mystery.

When KD signed Downing and Adam, I was salivating at the prospect of them delivering the crosses that AC thrives on, but this never materialized, for reasons already mentioned a countless times. Henderson of course has consistently been preferred by KD, to play on the right wing of all positions.

Recently, we've had Kuyt and Raheem Sterling hinting that they may leave if they do not get the opportunities. And immediately, they had their chances. Why need to come to this? Obviously, there is discontent among the players; I mean who will not be if the manager keeps persisting with players who underperform, while you perform but is dropped?

A lot of questions need to be asked... and be answered. I like to KPKB, and vent and voice my opinions. I don't eat prawn sandwiches and just keep quiet. :p I'll have a beer and have a go at the players if they are crap. I also have a go at KD when he subs Maxi everytime even though he is playing well. But whatever the outcome of the matches, I'll still wear my No. 7 jersey, (yes No. 7) without fail every weekend.

Bro, I wish this was the case but look through the posts and you can see there are pple who don't want SOME of the squad to succeed, since day 1.

If you want the whole squad to succeed, then I have no quarrel with you. Go ahead the criticise individual players case by case, that's fair.

Some pple jump to the conclusion that I am arrogant and self-centred because I criticise them (ironic, they can criticise players, but they themselves are beyond critique). On the contrary. There are still many true Reds around - look at the travelling supporters for example. I wish there were more true fans.

I hope we don't have to do this to remind our team where the goal is...

I am really glad to see that there are some Liverpool supporters here do see things I am seeing. Of course everyone is entitled to their views. There is no right or wrong . But I think is very clear , we are in a crisis in the BPL . This is not w aitchunting season or to blame anyone in particular . But usually when things don't go well in the club, usually the manager is the fallguy. Of coure the manger is not totally at fault . Some of the players also need to share the blame too. I don't have to mention which are the players I think everyone knows who.

If the current tactic of 4-5-1 doesn't work maybe a 4-4-2 or even a 5-3-1 suits us. But seriously I don't see the logic of paying somebody $35 million just to sit on the bench. Its really a waste of financial resources.

Having said that I am just looking forward to the semifinal clash with Everton on April 14. Hopefully our lads will beat them again and proceed to the final. It doesn't matter what the scoreline is but as long as we win it.

so we play Newcastle United on Sunday night..

Charlie Adam will most likely be unavailable after he damaged his knee ligaments.

Hopefully Agger, Johnson and Kelly can return from their respective injuries to boost our defence considering the fact that we've conceded 5 goals in back to back BPL defeats against QPR and Wigan.

Maxi Rodriguez has recovered from his illness (supposedly) while Bellamy has been missing for the last 4 matches..

Sensible post man.

Carroll must play now, and when he has been given a run of games, he has gotten better.

I won't be providing any news for the BPL until the end of season. Do continue to update us with Liverpool progress in the BPL .

I think maybe I choose the wrong topic to begin with. I should have gone this way : who do you think among the new players have made the most contribution to the Liverpool team. Who deserve to wear the Liverpool t-shirt.

And he has definitely made an impact, just that people will judge him on goals as he is a forward.

If we tighten up our defence and play with 2 forwards, Suarez and Carroll, I think we can at least score and get a result because Williamson and Perch are not the most impressive centre backs.
So we gotta take advantage of Colocinni's absence.

Honestly, based on this season's peformances, old or new players, only Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, Stevie, Johnson, Kelly and Bellamy are good enough to wear the red. Even Reina has been disappointing

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

some interesting stats for the upcoming match against Newcastle:

Liverpool are currently 19th in the form table and if the league had started on January 1, Liverpool would be in 18th place with 8 points. One reason for this is their shooting as Liverpool have had 229 shots off target, more than any other team in the League. Shooting doesn’t seem to be a problem for Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse, he is the joint-quickest Newcastle player in league history to reach 5 goals taking only 6 games to do so. His strike partner Demba Ba has not scored in his last 5 league appearances, his joint-longest EPL goal drought.

Not sure this is a better question. But the player I have been most disappointed with has been Downing (no assists for the hundreds of crosses in the league).

I'm willing to give Henderson and Adam a chance. Much of the problem for them has been the injury to Lucas, which means the other mids (including Stevie) have had to do a lot of tracking back.

Both Henderson and Adam are attacking mids and I would like Kenny to get a solid holding mid so that whoever plays alongside him can just bomb forward.

How about more of route 1 football? Punt from Reina to Carroll, knock down to Suarez, goal!

The problem with our intricate play is lack of end product. We play very methodically on the wings but the final ball has been poor.

yes, I believe that with Lucas back next season as our anchor man, our midfield will definitely be more balanced as he is the best defensive midfielder (or should I say, the only one) in our current team. I really missed the times where we had the luxury to choose between Mascherano, Alonso and Lucas to play as DM.

The only other player I can think of now to fill the gap is Jay Spearing, who has been playing well imo ever since he was promoted from the reserves.

I still remember I was quick to criticize Lucas when he was playing for Liverpool in his first season, for giving away the ball too easily and not breaking up plays. Now, he has proven me wrong and is one of the first names on the team sheet (when he is not injured)

Let's pray hard and hope that our 4 flawed foursome  (Adam, Carroll, Henderson and Downing) can prove us and the critics wrong next season just like how Lucas did :)
