Re: Vietnam - HCM (Thread 3)

Maybe due to the recent raids....

Fewer tourists, more competitors for Ho Chi Minh City hotels.

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam - The 3-5 star hotels in HCM City rush to lower the hotel room rates and run sale promotion programs amid the modest growth rate in the number of foreign tourists. Meanwhile, they have to compete with apartment developers, who also provide short term accommodations.

The HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has estimated that about 246,000 foreign travelers arrived in Vietnam in July and 2.15 million in the first seven months of the year. The figures represent a modest growth rate of 5.5 percent, a lower growth rate in comparison with the same period of the last year.

Since the number of foreign tourists increased more slightly than expected, the hotels in the city had to cut down the hotel room rates and offer preferences to guests.

Travel firms have confirmed that the room rate in HCM City has decreased. Especially, hotels have offered big preferences to the travelers from Asian markets. In general, Asian travelers book tours later than European travelers, just some days before the departure time. Therefore, the sale promotion campaigns would show effects immediately in attracting tourists.

According to Bui Viet Thuy Tien, Managing Director of Asian Trails, hotels have offered the discount rates of 5-10 percent on average.

The Q2 report of Savills Vietnam, a real estate consultancy firm, showed that the hotel room rate and the average occupancy rate of the hotels in HCM City has been on the decrease.

The average hotel room rate is VND1.750 million per room per night, down by 12 percent over the same period of 2012, while the average room occupancy rate is 62 percent.

According to Savills Vietnam, the 4-5 star hotels in the center of the city have been operating better than that in other areas, but the 3-star hotels in the other areas have been operating better than that in the central area. In general, the 3-star hotels in the suburbs target domestic travelers and foreign backpackers who prefer saying at cheaper hotel rooms.

Not only does the decrease in the tourist growth rate cause a big headache to hotels, they now also have to deal with another problem – the appearance of new rivals.

In principle, hotels and apartments target two different groups of clients. While hotels provide short term accommodation services, apartments target the clients who plan long term stay. While hotels serve breakfast, the clients staying at apartments don’t receive the service.

However, apartment developers now tend to scramble for clients with hotels when offering flexible room rent services.

Capri by Fraser, the apartment building which joined the market in early March, has leased rooms to the clients’ orders. They can choose long term renting, or rent by days.

Located in Phu My Hung urban area in district 7 in HCM City, the building has 175 apartments for rent at VND1.6 million ($75) per night and VND25 million ($1,200) per month. The above said rates include the fees for the breakfasts. This means that the clients staying at the apartments would receive the same services as if they are in hotels.

SSG Group has put the Saigon Airport Plaza building, located near the Tan Son Nhat airport, into operation. This is a complex of apartments and offices for rent, and 84 service apartments.

The rates here are VND25-29 million for a month stay and VND1.4 million for a day stay.

Re: Vietnam - HCM (Thread 3)

back from hcm for quite some time already.
did not have the time to post fr.
well, my virgin trip to hcm. done many research on places.
but it did not went well.. most of the location posted in sbf is all close.
is either the time i went was too early
or maybe cos too many foreigner visit, police raid, close shop already.
contacted rich saigon boy. he say he will bring me around for a price.
i ask him how much, he say it depends.
so i tell him i dont need him to bring me around.
i just need some information and location. i can find myself.
i ask him to quote me for asking him information and location.
he told me the price, but he went MIA after that.
so i went on to find places myself.
i found a spa. it was damn good. i did not choose the girl to massage me.
but from what i see. most of them is all very pretty and hot.
during the massage i did not ask for hj. she auto help give me hj. maybe cos she saw me erected. haha.. i cannot take it. she too hot. plus she keep touching my balls. how i wish i can have a LT with her.. but too bad my viet not good. if not i confirm try my best to make her have LT session with me.. haha..
thats the only place i went. cos for the rest of the days. i'm with my bx. cant do anything. but my bx very good. bring me around hcm. eat a lot of nice food. i feel so xin fu.. it is so much better from having a gf in singapore. haha.

anyway i agree with bro mutton chicken. for those first time going to hcm.
you 100% wont find any good place. and 100% will get chop.
i advise those first timer to either find your friend to bring you,
or spend some money to find someone to bring you. but not richsaigonboy.
unless you think his price is reasonable.
all the best for those first timer.
and thanks bro muttonchicken for all the advise.

the first time i contact him. i can already feel that he confirm will chop me.
cos before i start talking, he ask me which hotel i stay, and saying that he will come and meet me..
den i ask him how much i need to pay him.
he told me that the price is depends on where i wanna go.
he can just tell me the range of price. but he did not.
so it is quite dangerous to ask him to meet me without knowing how much i need to pay him.

after that i ask him if i were to ask him a few question/location/information.
how much he will quote me. he just reply 500. so i reply him. if its 500k dong.
i'm fine with it and i can meet him now if he want. anyway i also dont have USD with me. as i was told that its not worth using USD. den he reply me that he is now busy will contact me when he is free. den he went MIA already. is either he forget about me. or he regret for quoting me 500K. haha..

Even here in Singapore, you may not find a good place, and you may also get chopped. It has happened to me a few times whereby the gal can't wait to push me out of the shop after the session is over, or the gal face black-black throughout the massage session. I take it as part of paying "school fees" and just make sure that I don't return to the same shop or girl again.

Anyway, I'm not comfortable with any senior quoting a fee for bringing newbies around. The senior should be doing it out of good-will and in the spirit of sharing and making friends. The newbie may return the senior's favour by buying him a meal or something, but paying a fee just does not sound right. Otherwise, the senior will become like a tour guide and not a friend.:(

TS purpose of starting this thread is for sharing of the cheong scene in HCM, and it's free information. I know that most of the massage parlours, spas, discos and hot tocs located in District 1 and mentioned in this thread are still in operation. The only place that was reportedly raided and closed are the HBT bars, which I don't fancy anyway.

In future, you may pm to the seniors asking for their recommendations prior to your trip. I'm sure they are willing to share with you the information, without demanding a fee in return.:)

First step foot in HCMC in June 2013. Know nothing much about the city, hence I only travel with H88. He is a great buddy, and we still meet for beer in Marina Bay , Little Thailand Thai Disco etc.

Still a newbie that is lucky enough to have a VN girl whom willing to stick with me till today.

So far I only go HCMC to see one single girl and that is about it.
