As a Pool Fan I am utterly disappointed with last nights' performance. As a serious punter I think I will have to bet on the team playing against Liverpool . Sure to win money.

The ref could hv been more lenient with the 2nd penalty, esp it was so soon after 1st was given (on many occasions we have seen how refs closed one eye) and again, it was not a vicious foul, probably 50-50.

First penalty Ref had to send Agger off due to the last man rule. But think Shane Long didn't show respect to Reina by taking the soft approach.

Second penalty highly disputable, replay showed Shane Long actually came from behind to take ball off Skrtel who was actually about to clear the ball away when the momentum of his feet just clip Long from behind.

All in a really poor display by Liverpool again. Gone are the days where Liverpool used to have teams like WBA for target practice. Now its seems they in turn are being used for that purpose...:(

Will BR still be around come January ? I wonder .

credit due to WBA. They defended well! We were wasteful with all the chances! Same old shxt as last season! I can see some players are in scoring position but yet they chose to pass the ball! WTF! BR-Baskin Robbins!:D Maintaining the 8th position as last season ain't no easy job.

The 2nd penalty is like WTF? Skytel is bringing the ball out. Long ran in and got clip at the heels and he got a penalty. WBA is giving all hard tackles and no yellow while AC got a yellow for clipping a heel?

This ref seems to be biase against Liverpool as previous seasons also pretty much same thing.

The 2nd penalty is more obvious than the 1st.

A foul is a foul whether the accused see him or not ..just that if he sees him and foul him it is considered intentional and he may be even sent off.

We can only be applaud at long's speed and determination.

I agree with you.

Shane Long gave the Liverpool defenders a torrid time last night.

Phil Dowd had a good view for the 2nd penalty so no doubt about it.

Ermmm ... we know WBA is a good team, esp strong at home. Deep down in our hearts, im sure most of us know it's a tough ground to play in, we could even draw or lose but bein Pool fans we were of cos bias.

I think it's still early days to pass judgement. Perhaps after one month and 4 more games, the picture may be clearer where we stand. if standings says 0/15, it's time to press the panic button!!!

Im a punter too but I rarely bet on Pool's matches, esp more so when they play away on tricky grounds (WBA, SUN, SWA). Maybe occasionally when I watch big games with my friends do I take a small punt. I never bet against Pool lah BUT I often give advice to my frens which match to bet against Pool if they wanna make $$$ ... and 90% of the time they were accurate. :(

The incident where Borini collided with Ridgewell, I don't think that's a foul as Borini simply ran into him as his eyes was on the ball and he did not see Ridgewell in front of him.

As for Lukaku's headed goal, he was definitely not offside as Liverpool had Skrtel, Johnson and Reina at the far post.

You can watch the highlights here again to confirm: http://footyroom.com/west-bromwich-a...rpool-2012-08/

As much as I would like to defend Liverpool, West Brom played really very well apart from the first half where we dominated possession but did nothing with it and wasted good chances to score. It could also have been 5-0 to West Brom if Long had scored the first penalty which he earned and if James Morrison had scored from Lukaku's left foot cut back.

Liverpool were really poor.. :(

I reckon that Stewart Downing should be dropped to the bench. Sterling and/or Assaidi should be given a chance in the first team on the wing.

Agger is suspended for the next 3 league games (unless the red card is overturned), meaning another central defender must be drafted in. I really hope either Coates or Wilson comes in instead of Carragher..

I thought they had introduced new rules to the game as in no further punishment (e.g red card) if a penalty is awarded?
From what i saw on the screen last night, Borini was impeded.
Professional foul is only 1 match suspension right? only violent play is automatic 3 match suspension?
But do agree with you bro, Liverpool played well until Gera's goal and we deserved to lose. But Phil Dowd on the day obviously favoured WBA/.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Only the first match, I think we should not point fingers at BR at this juncture. Would Michael Laudrup, MON, Guus Hiddink or The Only One have done a better job? One goal down, one man less ... I think even the likes of Manure and Chelsea may not have conjured any magic.

Worrying as it seems, let's take one match at a time. Minor consolation is Arse dropped 2 pts, Spurs lost and either/both Chel and Scums will drop pts tonite.

Ok juz read the BR post match interview.

Excerpts:

"I'm not one to go on about referees, but in the second half I thought the two (penalty) decisions - three if you include the sending off - were very, very harsh. I don't think either of the decisions were penalties. If you see them again on the replay, you'll see that they were very, very harsh.

...

"Like I said, we conceded a penalty and then the sending off kills you, really. Especially for a new team that is coming together in terms of the structure and ideas.

"But I have to give big credit to the players. They ran to a standstill today, even though days like that hurt."

...

Reporters quizzed the manager whether he was disappointed with the way his side had defended for the goal.

He responded: "We were chasing the game and trying to get back into it, and so obviously that naturally leaves the spaces and things that little bit more open. Instead of sitting at 2-0, we were trying to get back into the game.

"West Brom played a counter-attacking game today, so you're always going to be vulnerable in that position (down to 10 men). But like I said, the players gave me everything today and I can't complain.

"It was a bad day at the office for us, but I thought we showed signs, particularly in the first half, that the players have coped very well with the ideas. In the second half when we went down to 10 men, it was difficult for us."

(On Agger's red)

Asked whether Liverpool would appeal Agger's red card, Rodgers replied: "It's certainly something we'll look at, absolutely. It was very, very harsh I thought."

(On Joe Allen)

"I thought he was outstanding," he said. "For a boy to walk into a new team and perform like that, I thought he was superb. His body work, passing and ability to get on the ball was excellent."

I have a feeling that the ref is biased against Liverpool .A couple of decisions did not go Liverpool's way . Maybe he kelong ?
