he is blooding the youngsters in that game, with the likes of sterling (this guy reminds me a certain john barnes), shelvey, robinson, kelly........juz find it strange that he played carragher instead of coates..........carragher should retire IMHO sooner & give players like coates, danny wilson or andre wisdom a chance.............really hope sahin & dempsey comes in soon to complete the squad.............assaidi looks really good & skillful in the youtube videos n hope he can deliver................

as for the man city game, hope we win but a draw will not be a bad result with the strength that man city has...................YNWA

BR had already indicated he would rest a few of the key players ahead of the ManC clash. So it's not a surprise with the selection. He got the result he wanted with a weakened squad.

Let's hope his strategy works and the rested key players rise to the occasion in the Man City game.

Latest News from Soccernet.

Liverpool announce Sahin agreement

Liverpool have confirmed the loan signing of Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid subject to a medical.

Nuri Sahin is set to join Liverpool over the weekend

Sahin, 23, had been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool's Premier League rivals Arsenal, who are in the market for a midfielder following the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona.

However, it is reported the Gunners were seeking a loan deal for Sahin that included an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season - something Madrid were not keen on.

The Reds have this week emerged as favourites for Sahin's signature, and on Saturday they confirmed on their official website a deal is in place, subject to physical tests at Melwood.

The Turkey international signed for Real from Borussia Dortmund in 2011 but he has struggled for first-team opportunities in Spain, making just four La Liga appearances last season.

We have to thank the Special One for this.... I heard Jose Mourinho wanted Sahin to come to Liverpool instead of Arsenal :D

Hope Sahin will turn out to be a marquee signing albeit on loan only.

He was injured for a lengthy spell at RM last season which he only played 4 league games. So lets hope he wont be injury proned like some of our expensive buys in the past!

I think it's because he has worked with Brendan Rodgers and he doesn't want Sahin to meet Real Madrid in any European competitions.

Though we can only get him on loan, a successful Sahin loan stint will let other marquee players know that they can still succeed at Anfield.

Sahin's videos make him look like the double of Suarez, great ball control and vision, and not afraid of putting in challenges in midfield.

Exciting!

I doubt JM will let him join us though if we want to him him.

It seems swansea is getting a good start these 2 games without Allen and Rogers.. They are leading 3-0

Nevertheless I predict a 2-0 win for the blues against us Tmw..till we get an out and out striker to partner Suarez :(

it makes good business sense to take him on loan first. If he does well I am BR would give him a permanent deal

Here is a video clip I found on him

He sure would give the english lads a run for thier money.

Some facts on him

We are at the bottom of the table in Week 2 when we have not even kicked the ball. Lady Luck certainly aint kind to us after a torrid opening game and a critical 1st month of tough fixtures.

Too early to press the panic button of cos, but we need results to boost our morale. It'll be worrying if we do not register our 1st win by the end of September. Look at our list of fixtures and you'll know what I mean. So far the mid table teams, like Swansea, Everton and Fulham are playing very well and we'll need to work very hard this season if we want to secure an ECL, or minimally an Europa spot.

I do hope we'll start off with a big result against ManC tonight. I may sound pessimistic but I'll take a DRAW agt the champions as a positive result.
