Re: Vietnam - HCM (Thread 3)
The beer in Hoi An, VN is even cheaper at 30 cents per glass but run out fast. Certain food joints will also not sell you the cheap beer if you are not partaking a meal there.
The Phnom Penh Angkor Beer at 50 cents per glass is also as cheap, 2 USD for a jug and 3 USD for 2 jugs! Drink to your heart content, but take care! |

The border crossing for Viet-Cam will close in the evening. I can't remember what time, should be 8pm till 8am. This is the reason why most buses leave PP or HCMC latest by 3 or 4pm and earliest 5 or 6am. If you dunno and unfortunately take the evening bus, u will have few options when the border closes. Either sleep uncomfortably in the bus or in the public or spend money on a hotel in the border. Even if the border works 24 hrs, I doubt the river crossing in Cambodia will be 24hrs. :D My friend had a bad experience before. He took the 3pm bus but unfortunately, wasted 6 hours in the river crossing as it was a major holiday in Cambodia. When he reached the border, it was after 10pm... he suffered the whole night waiting for the border to reopen. |

Re: Vietnam - HCM (Thread 3)
I think there is a strict speed limit of 40-50kmh on the Vietnam side but presumably no such speed limit on the Cambodian side.

Re: Vietnam - HCM (Thread 3)
Next week, I will be in HCM for 5 days, 3 days at work 2 days will be accompany my BX.
Recently, an old friend of mine (VB) had opened a shop selling food. I will try the food if it is good and will recommend anyone who is interested. The VB is very friendly and speak and write quite good English. |

1) Initially, you mentioned the bus will reach border at 7am++ and now 4am? 2) Hopefully, the old bus air con is in good condition but with a 3hrs stationary bus, about 20 people in the bus, how will it be comfortable? 3) The bus leaves HCMC at 12am instead of 12.30am. |
