LFC has now turned to Bayern Munich's Xherdan Shaqiri as their replacement target for Lallana.

The deal is not off yet but has stalled. Club unwilling to negotiate til after the a World Cup but reports said Lallana was determined to force thru a move. From a financial point of view, can't blame Southampton for bein greedy la. They know a host of top clubs are already after Lallana's name. And he already commands a base price of 25m now. If he performs outstandingly in the WC, his value can only go higher. Not surprised if eventually dogs fight dogs until someone signs him for a price tag of 30-35m.

I think BR has learnt his painful lesson from the Clint Dempsey episode and does not want a repeat with the Lallana situation. The Saints can afford to wait until the last day of the transfer window but BR has to tie up the deals ASAP to prevent another situation like the Dempsey deal to happen again..... so I am not surprised if he dumps Lallana and goes for other available players.

If Lallana really wants to come to Liverpool he should have put in a transfer request to force Southampton's hand. I agree that BR should dump Lallana and get other players in if Southampton wants to pay hardball as no one player is above the team.

Pool wants a deal sealed fast n may not want to wait til after WC. Shaqiri n Moreno look like sound choices if either signs but its a big question mark if they could fit in the English system.

Btw, found an interesting article which the author did a superb piece of marketing for Shaqiri. If u guys follow German football u wd hv seen what the Swiss is capable of. Not a bad gamble if Pool signs him.

Liverpool should not pay over the odds for Adam Lallana. There are creative players in the market but my guess is Rodgers wants British talent.

Surprised no one brought this up. We signed Rickie Lambert. I think he is a good signing for £4 million pounds. Local lad, at his peak, willing to be 3rd or 4th choice striker. Scores a lot of goals, creates many as well. Tall, muscular Plan B striker who is good at playing in the Plan A way.

I agree with you...think we need at least 4 good strikers...to challenge 4 cups next season...next season will be the year for BR and the club...:)

Target next season in my opnion...:)

Champion League - last 16
Premier League - 2nd
FA Cup - Finals
League Cup - Finals

The Saints have turned down Liverpool's improved bid of 25m pounds for Lallana.

Looks like Liverpool are in for a roller coaster ride on this transfer.

Pierre.

Liverpool Set to Sign Emre Can After Meeting Release Clause

http://www.ftbpro.com/posts/scott.sa...release-clause

Excerpts:

'Liverpool look to have beaten Inter Milan to his signature by moving swiftly to meet the fee the in the Turkish born German midfielder's contract .... The Reds have also beaten Bayern Munich to the player, who were thought to have a buy back option on their former star after he left the Allianz Arena for Leverkusen just last year.'

Well, Pool hv signed many high profile European flops in the past, who hv problems acclimatising to the epl. Hopefully Can n possibly Shakiri would be a success!

Forget Lallana...... with Emre Can coming in now..... there's no real need to buy Lallana as both play the same positions.

Borini wants to stay. Does he fit in as the 4th striker in the jigsaw puzzle?

I would really love to see more players in the youth ranks breaking into the senior squad next season. Heard fr my fren IBE most likely wd be upgraded.
