Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

The ban will be at international level. Not club level. How can you punish a club for what he does for his country? FIFA will get sued big time by Liverpool if they do that. If he gets banned for international games, that is good news for us because he gets more rest during the season.

I just read online the rules for FIFA's World Cup 2014. Apparently there is a proviso for FIFA to issue a directive for the punishments to be meted out on a world wide basis and/or on a selective level and the particular affiliated country's FA has to ensure that the punishment is enforced.

So in LS's case if the FIFA committee directs that his punishment is to be include the domestic games...... then the English FA has to enforce it.

We can only hope that whatever punishment they decide to impose on LS is applicable to International games only.

Nope..... Liverpool cannot sue FIFA. Liverpool has to get the English FA has to sue FIFA on its behalf but I do not think the EFA will want to do that.
If Liverpool insists on suing for compensation..... they have to sue the player himself. :D

Official news just in that Luis Suarez has been suspended for 9 official international matches and 4 months of football related activity, which also includes matches at club level. In addition, he has been fined 100,000 Swiss Francs.. :(

I consider this a 'light ban'. Could hv been worse considering his bad disciplinary record. If the ban starts now, Suarez would only miss 2 mths of epl.

But how can we ensure he does not erupt again???

With the 4 months ban, I'm waiting to see what offers are tabled for this guy.

Pierre.

Yes we can sue through Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). When FIFA bans him, the main party getting punished is Liverpool as we are paying him £200,000 per week. Why should Liverpool suffer this loss when he wasn't representing us in any way at the World Cup? Fifa can have their rules but they will not want to go up against the EU.

We should highlight this as a warning to them. If the case sets a precedent, FIFA is in big trouble. European judges side with Europeans. Start an appeal process first. By the time of the appeal hearing, the World Cup is over. Having missed the rest of the World Cup, FIFA will find it easier to lessen the punishment.

Someone should go tell Suarez. Next time if you are unhappy with someone, go squeeze/punch their balls like Vinny Jones. At least the punishment will not be 4 months ban. At most 3 match suspension only.

Just a heads-up info from the CEO.

Anyway nomatter how good a player is, he should behave himself on and off the pitch as the whole world is seeing. It will be sooner or later people will associate Liverpool FC as a "biting" team, it's human nature.

Just like Wimbledon, till now, people associate them as a gangster club after like 20 years has passed.

Important notes is that Luis Suarez has now been banned for 34 games since 2010 without receiving a single red card, this should speak volumes to the directorate at Anfield.

Should sell Suarez if there is a big offer.... We need a team not a player.
