You heard from where one har?

FYI, Titanic and Brittanic are two different entity, although both are owned by the same boss. Titanic is considered to be an up-market KTV with gals available for booking. While Brittanic is a fish-tank booking joint with minimal KTV facilities.

That is and was never the case. Even if you change S$10K in bank in SG, the rates will never be higher than in Batam. Unless you kanna chop when changing money in Batam.

Just FYI, even the exchange rates in Jakarta are not as good as in Batam. The rationale is because Batamese value the SGD highly.

Strangely..., I went to Arcade at Raffles Place. Two money changers quoted $1=5800RP, a few others $1=5750, and not so popular ones $1=5700. At Batam ferry terminal, it was $1=5800. Then again, the rupiah could have devalued in over 3 days.

Anyway, at the end of the day, we don't change that much money for such a big difference. Only thing is, gotta look at the zeros carefully.

arcade rates normally quite good, probably a small difference compare to best rate you can get else where...forget about changing at harbour front, total rip off...

in Batam, i found that the rate at the terminal normally more expensive by rp100-200 for every S$1 than you can get from changers at Nagoya.....

Thats exactly what I mentioned earlier ...

Usual cheongsters very most xchange S$500/- .. if xrate less favour by Rp100, S$500 also less by Rp50,000 which is about S$8.70 ... no sweat lah.

Not so much lah. Around Rp30-Rp50 less per SGD listed. It helps if you're a regular, cos they'll definitely give you better rates than in town. The amount you change also place a big part. Amounts more than S$1K will definitely get you very good rates.

yes agree moneychanger at harbourfront is a rip off.

no lah, at nagoya where can get so much more? usually 20rp to 40 rp more per SGD than at Batam Centre terminal

Then you shouldn't have said the exchange rates are the same in Batam and in Singapore. Don't you know that the Rupiah is a very volatile currency. So far this year, the Rupiah had fluctuated with a difference of around Rp200 agsint the SGD in the exchange on a single day, let alone many years back which was worst.
