Some travel insurance includes mobile coverage for theft and robbery.
But the claim procedures are damn frustrating...

I am a S'porean n not against S'porean but when u stay in oversea long enough, u will differential a local with S'porean. S'porean is always equate with cash n ipui.

Anyway end of the day, safety is most impt.

Many S'porean forget to bring brain while on a oversea trip to relax...
In JB, I even saw an idiot left his laptop on coffee bean table when he go order drink with no one guarding his stuff.

As naemlo says, safety is most impt. You are still alive and kicking, that's very good already.

Hi bro, empathise with your plight but as long as you are safe an well.....already lucky liao. Tons of things can happen overseas.

An immigration officer once asked me for SGD50 at HCM airport cos i forgot to print my flight itinerary. damn suay. i just gave him the money to avoid more problems. I wonder anyone experience this when entering HCM at the airport.

now i appreciate my local friend more for not allowing me to go almost anywhere without him in HCMC. Will be there next week.

Take care, be safe & have fun!

I kena the same thing too at the airport asking where is my return flight ticket. I handed him my Iphone n show him my email. He said no, he wants a printed copies. I said I don't hv it n just stand there looking at him. I guess he is waiting for me to give him kopi money but after awhile he just returned the passport to me n let me go. So when the next time I went HCM, I choose a female immigration officer which I think girl r not that greedy...yes, is true, she didn't asked for anything n return my passport

Thanks for the report on the latest scam.

In more than 5 years of living in Vietnam, with exit and entry at Tan Son Nhat Airport practically every month (so more than 60 exits and entries), never have I ever been asked for a printed flight itinerary.

But then again, my passport has the VN visas, entry and exit stamps and I speak Vietnamese to the immigration officers, so less likely that they will try something funny with me.

Thanks bro. I was asked for my return flight itinerary too, but no problem. he changed his mind and let me go before I took out my flight itinerary.

I had been flying in and out monthly for past 6 years...never encountered once had I been asked to give money or any funny things...ask me when i fly back is common question...yes, I speak Vietnamese to the officer...and my passport cleared within seconds sometimes the officer also could not believe to be so fast...btw, never had visa and just too many entry and exits stamps that the officer only say welcome again to Vn...:)

Two samsters were travelling with me and they too had breezed thru the ICA without fanfare...:)

the exchange rate we got...11 Oct - 16,850....14 Oct - 16,880...:)

Well, my last trip to HCM, the CB officer didn't even take my passport or look at me, just asked for RETURN ticket... So i just show to him with a smile (that says I know what you are up to lah..).

There are 2 things:
1. Do not choose the shortest cue or that is manned by an old CB faced male officer.

2. Get ur RETUN ticket ready, just in case. If u do not buy one, at least edit from one of the used tickets and print.

If u didn't do 1 and 2 and that cb officer asked for RETURN ticket, u always can say want to talk to Singapore Embassy about ticket.

:D
