Price go up faster than rupiah go down. And recently subsidy for fuel cut down, transportation cost go higher and faster.

As most of us preferred to have in-house massage centre in the hotel we are staying in because we can enjoy the comfort, convenience and privacy of having massage in our own room.

Actually although indonesia have a high depreciation of the rupiah but it also has a high inflation rate of more than 5% compare to spore about 2% nia. Therefore we as consumers only manage to benefit slightly from the exchange rate because of the rise in costs of the goods and services there.

However, when the rupiah depreciate, imported goods in Batam becomes very costly because of the low value of the rupiah. Therefore probably only the price of locally made products may remain low and affordable to the local people.

Those days of $200 (5-10yrs back) may be worth $300 in today's dollar.
Comparing now with 10 years ago, our salary may have increased 50% plus our exchange rate to rupiah may have also increased to almost double (4900-9100), however the cost of cewek may have increased 2-3 folds, that was why the buying power of the sing dollar did not increase much.
