Still fresh in my mind .... many many years ago Pool signed 2 very promising and high profile french youngsters Sinama Pongolle n Anthony Le Tellac. Very sad to say both flopped. Imagine if both succeeded at Anfield, we could be in a totally different predicament now. :o

Besides footballing talent many other factors come into play and Liverpool failed to take into account that both these boys are Muslims..... they were unable to adapt to the diet and culture in Liverpool so their performance were affected.

But both these players flourished when they went back to France to play for other clubs. :D

Liverpool will confirm the appointment of Sean O'Driscoll as assistant manager as he replaces Colin Pascoe who was sacked in June.

The promotion of academy coach Pep Lijnders to Brendan Rodgers' backroom staff will see the Dutchman work around elite player development.

As such Liverpool are likely to make one further addition to the coaching staff to replace former first-team coach Mike Marsh who did not have his contract renewed last month.

Majority of Liverpool's squad will report back to Melwood this week, except Coutinho and Firmino, as Liverpool fly out to Bangkok this weekend to begin the pre-season.
