Re: Batam Info Thread

Short summary of my recent trip over the weekends. It's been awhile since I headed over to Batam. As I had other friends who werent interested in booking girls and I wanted to meet the girls I met online and the friends i made in my previous trip. 4 of us shared a suite in Formosa.

Manage to meet up with 2 girls I met online on the 1st day. Both local chinese so no problem communicating. Didnt hv much time to spend with them as they were both working.

Sat, woke up and the girl i met in my previous trip said she was free so she brought me around as i abandoned my friends as i went on my date. haha.

Wasnt expecting anything much from her as she seemed like the quiet and guai guai kind. I was SO wrong! After the whole day out, she said she wanted to go home and change before dinner and asked me if i wanted to follow her home. I was abit skeptical about it so told her i would meet her at harbor bay and i cab from batam centre back to my hotel first. Met her again at 7 for dinner and went for some drinks. I guess we had a little too much cos things happened so fast and next thing i knew was that we went to some hotel and spent the night there. Next day she dropped me back at Formosa and we parted ways.

that was about 7am so still had some time. Called 1 more girl I met online and had breakfast at Nagoya Hill, chit chat and left.

Overall, to me. this has been a wonderful trip. Manage to meet the friends I made online. Manage to get laid without the commercial feel.

Cant wait my next trip soon.

Not a steak fan,but according to a bro in my office building.the steak or western food in GOODIES restaurant was a legend in Batam. I dont know if you are referring to the same GOODIES at Smiling Hill where there is a small hotel with a very small amount of rooms. The place is very very out of the way but i may one day drop by there to try their food.

I went visiting Smiling Hill years ago, just because I wanted to see how it is.

1) It's not true that you need a car and no taxi takes you there (someone wrote this): you can go by ojek. It's not so far away, although not at walking distance.

2) It's an excellent place, cozy, clean. Very nice indeed. The restaurant is very good too, specialized in Western food (of course: owners are Australian).

3) AWAS: It is NOT recommended for the average reader of this forum. It is oriented mostly to bule patrons, and excellent for long stays. It's away from KTVs etc. Alhough not prohibited, I don't know if bringing back a different girl every night would be welcome there.

4) The owners and managers are very good people. My impression is that they know how to conduct a business capable to attract western visitors but in harmony with and respecting the locals. Thumbs up.

5) Last but not least, the FAQ on http://www.smilinghillbatam.com/ are one of the best guides for first-time visitors to Batam (Nono's guide addresses different needs of visitors :D). Lots of important information there.

Some drama after calling up the joint to feedback. And send her back after she show her attitude.

One of the two girls I booked from NB was called Yani or something! Same or different name? She was really pretty, and sweet in my arms. I cannot wait to meet her again on my next trip. But I will take her and her friend to disco.

I been seeing everyone saying that and your FR also mentioned something like going to kaha to pay for the hotel before going to the hotel itself to check in?

Is there something like a procedure to get rooms in batam? Cuz the last time i went was simply walk into the hotel reception and pay for it. lol

Actually i took quite a bit of time to write the below information below :

http://sammyboyforum.com/showpost.ph...ostcount=29580

and here :

http://sammyboyforum.com/showthread....5#post12869205

You just reminds me that i have written some info using incomplete sentence,hehehe...instead of using the word Kaha,i should have use the word Kaha Travel.

Kaha Travel is a place to buy hotel room voucher that may sometime be cheaper than from walk-in or from online hotel booking. Keep in mind, always check online pricing 1st before approaching Kaha Travel. Not all rooms in Batam from Kaha Travel is cheaper.

Below are some basic procedure to book a hotel room in Batam.

Online booking, you pay by credit, reach Batam ,pass them your passport and you can check in,at times you can also choose to pay by cash or credit card upon checking out.

Walk in,just walk to hotel receptionist to check in if they have available room and you pay cash or credit card upon checking out.

Book from Kaha Travel, you walk in to Kaha Travel shop directly opposite Harmoni Hotel, buy a voucher which at most time will be paid by IDR aka cash, you receive the voucher, you go to the hotel you booked to check in. Paying by credit card is possible at Kaha Travel, but there will be extra charge incur. No more room payment upon checking out as all payment has already been done in Kaha Travel .

Hope that helps.

Yes, this is the one. And truth be told - their pizza is better than most in SG and cheaper by a big margin. Better as in - myself being taste-sensitive to MSG, preservatives etc - their pizzas dun have those - much like fine Taiwanese cuisine (MSG/preservative-free).

It is my favorite place for good food in Batam, though it really is out of the way (for me). Only complaint I got, due to resto being open air and surrounded by flora, are the mosquitoes. LOL.

The street store selling indo food beside relax in between the road to sinar bulan, only operated at night. At least open up to 3am

Satay, steam peanuts, steam corn, Indon and seafood opposite bridge massage , on the left side of the entrance to nagoya hill.

Dear SEAJ,

I count myself as a regular contributor in this thread, and I have always strived to provide informative data here. I'm sure I speak for most regular contributors here when I say we welcome you to put up constructive and informative posts.

However, we ALREADY have a mod here, and we do not need additional policing from anyone, and that includes you.

IMHO (that's abbreviation for In My Humble Opinion, in case you don't know), Icycold's reply to H88's post was non-threatening and was certainly non-attacking, as you had so deftly put across. It was a very matter-of-fact posting that expressed his personal opinion and offered some suggestions that may or may not be useful; that is for a historian to decide. Anyone with a fair degree of intelligence could comprehend that he chose his words with care, resulting in a fairly polite and non-offensive post.

On the contrary, your response to him was, IMHO, inflammatory and inciendiary. For you to accuse Icycold of having an agenda and insinuating that Hendri2 is perhaps his clone is uncalled for.

If you have the ability to take a step back and look at this matter objectively, you will perhaps realize that YOUR post was the one that has started the so-called battle. Your accusative tone and snide remarks have certainly riled many of the folks here, me included. And no, I am neither Icycold's clone nor do I know him on a personal basis.

This is my two cents' worth and I hence conclude my objective observation.

My advice? Take a chill pill... Peace out....
