The main diff between Datuk's Thread and this is it compares different rates not only on dates, but also which money changer offer what rates. No point just posting forex rates from TV/Internet/Newspapers.

The reason why threads focus on RM and Thai is because of the frequency of brothers that go there, and also to compare which money changer in SG/KL/HDY/BKK offer the best rates.

The quotes u get from the Money market will not be what u get from the money changers. The difference will be minimum 3% to 5% for both buy and sell rates

Of cos, hahaha, but just that the rates here should be reflective of the rates we should get at money changers and which offer the best rate.

As a previous frequenter of LOS and SG, it was always an important thread to know the prevailing rates available and where had the best rates.

Those who uses PDA phone, go install the software Currency Converter. Once you hook up any wireless network, can update the currency immediately from website and convert it...

I normally check over this site, and give some discount

http://www.asiaone.com/html/currency.html

But, now SGD seem very weak against USD, Thai baht etc. :(

Maybe bros can post where they change the money?

I been told GM (Beach Road) and City Plaza (near geylang) rate are better?

Golden Mile is the place to go for thai baht, simply because there is a good supply of thai baht therefore the rates will be slightly better. used to go to the big one run by Thais at the corner nearer to the petrol kiosk, haven't been there for a while cos i've stopped going to thailand. heard that the rates for RMB at City Plaza sucks, People's Park offers better rates but if you are not changing a lot the difference is minimal taking into account the time and transportation cost invovled.

Hi Bros,

For changing RMB, I always change in Chinatown.

CK Departmental Store. Inside there's a money changer. It's opposite People's Park Complex. Go across by using the overhead bridge.

Cheers

So far they give me the best rates.

Yo Bro,

Last time I used to change RMB from sillypore n carry to china, until there was a time I got TWO fake rmb100 notes from the exhange centre (that I only discovered when I used them in china), and I decided not to change in sillypore anymore!

What I m doing now is draw the RMB from china local ATM machine by using the sillypore ATM card.

To my one year plus experience, the bank's exchange rate is about S$495 - S$498 for rmb2500, plus the transaction fee $S5, that makes the max of S$503 for rmb2500.

If u take standard exchange rate of 1 sing to 5 rmb, with additional 3 sing dollars, u can get the assurance that u will never receive the fake notes; for me, I think it is worth paying.

(pls note that u need to have plus or cirrus sign on your atm card, n some banks the max withdrawal is only rmb2000; so far, I feel that bank of china is most convenient one)
