Remittance usually has more attractive exchange rate, do note they have not factor in the service charge yet. It depend how much you remit. I remitted SGD3,600 to USA. It costs me another SGD30 for service charge. That was handled by my friend working in CitiBank. You may expect to pay more outside.:eek:

Thank bro .. that Hang Seng Bank (PRC) in People Park charges $20 per transaction of remittance (TT).

The RMB rates should be fixed for the day regardless how much we remit :confused:

charge 15-18 $ per time
rate is about 200pts beter then cash rate at money changer
eg.money change 4.80, remit agent 4.82
agents at peoples park 2nd floor...go where u see crowds
money deposited into accounts 1-2 days

if scared of agent running away
go icbc charges 20$

wah...some relief...rate getting slightly better now. At least not in the 4.7 region. Now at least 4.8. Anyone hear of better rate? Whats the latest and where?

the rates for the china rmb is going back to 5
i had monitor the amount for the past week, the rates is rising, from 4.58 to 4.62 then 4.68 then 4.72 and today 4.80.
the rates is getting better

Start saving up now.. I may be travelling to China in Dec08. So RMB depreciates in coming months is a good thing for us :D

Let mi forecast by 20th Nov 2008 hope the rates is SGD1 : RMB5.2

Oh I see .. in my financial philosophy fixed assets like houses do appreciate over time even during downturn but then cash in bank will depreciate in real value due to inflation. So you are likely to be a winner in the end :D

Today (26 Sept) changed some RMB, the rate is nose bleeding, only 4.75. Bo pian, going to the PRC on Sat. Was hopping the rate will at least improve to 4.8x, am going to change and keep some under my pillow when it hit at least 5.00:mad:

actually it's not a good time to go to money changer on eve of holiday, fri, sat & sun ... the rates r pretty bad ...

today at people park. ask around. best rate given was 4.725

don't go novena sq. asked in the morning was 4.72 but evening quote me 4.68 :mad:

Yes ..saw a lot of PRC workers here remit SGD1,000 to SGD2,000 back home & also heard the rates in Hang Seng Bank is good :p
