Any other bros encounter this problem where the shops don't accept your credit cards? It happened to me a few times before when i am.running low on idr cash and try to use my credit card instead. The cashiers keep asking me for credit cards that belong to their local banks like Mandiri or BCA. They keep.claimimg that their machines can't accept bank cards not issued by Indon banks. Happened to me quite a few times over the past couple of years. Don't seem to have a problem at hotels or 'famous restaurants' like Golden Prawn. Withdrawing from their atms is not a problem. But it is annoying when the moment arises and it happens even in shops in Nagoya Mall.

I recommend Sederhana Nasi Padang. It is down the road from Harmoni Hotel and behind the police post. The beef rendang is incredible. But be prepared for lots of houseflies although it is fully air conditioned.

Not writing on behalf of veteran chiongsters here but having read all their FRs........imho, it's better to personally pick ur girls face to face rather than thru' wechat.....and u can nego the price too.

Truth be told, I have personally come to conclude that restos in touristy areas just cannot be compared to those that aren't. Yet, for bros who come to batam for a few days and weekends - won't find the logic to travel "far"/"out-of-the-way" to try those good restos. In such cases, Zenbu's good value to them. Just avoid that shitty Mondanyaki dishes.

It's an experience and I love trying. Zenbu's experience was great for me still - bcs never try, never know.

Any recommendations for good jap restos...? I had tried Bento Tei @ City Walk before and it was not bad, but Zenbu still won taste-wise.

Btw, u know any good Korean restos..? I had tried the one at Harmoni Hotel and it was crap...

Past reviews (2012 to 2013) for this restaurant appears to be good and was patronized mostly by Koreans and Tourists from the west,but most recent few (2014-2015) was a disappointment. Food making and taste appears to be inconsistent. And heard they charge pretty high too. Ang moh appears to like it more,but not the locals and some other Asians. (no wonder they are in NED,hehehe...)

When i read reviews,i try to know who are the one who eats them,understand their different taste bud base on their race before coming to my personal conclusion. Appears to me that there are few times more Korean Restaurants in Batam than Japanese Restaurant. Strange phenomenon indeed, (most major hotels will have some sort of Korean cuisines) and they are mostly clustered among tourist spots (which is not-so-good in my opinion).

Just have to comment on the staffs at formosa. I carelessly drop one of my small pouch during breakfast and only realising it when i am about to check out. Went back to down to try my luck to see if i can find it there and found out the staff actually found it and kept it for the time being. Kudo to their excellent services and integrity. This hotel will be on my priority list whenever im going to batam again. :)

Good method of finding good driver.This way,driver cannot be no good,cos they are from the hotel and are likely answerable to the respective hotels. At least anything wrong,the hotel management can still trace the driver or their vehicle if they decide to play punk...lol. It may cost a bit more tho. ;)
