If u can write and understand tv, try zalo...more interesting than wechat in vn.

Wechat more for WL there or those who worked sg / Malaysia before. Zalo their local version

Have came to looking forward for my short trips to vn as a battery recharge. Also made cut down on drinking in sg.

Using the same amount for paying 5 hours for entertainment in sg ktv for a month, rather go vn enjoy. Cheaper and get passport stamped:D

The pronouncion of the words is rather difficult. I asked the hotel lady boss how to read the symbols on the wordings... she gave me one look and declared that I will never able to learn it... sigh...
I pick up some tv using pimsleur audio.. some of the words came in handy...
Maybe will enroll in some tv language course at the cc..

how nice if there is a Learn Viet book by a singkees :D
and there will be pronunciation help for viet word that sounds like in english/chinese/dialect .. LOL ... can learn faster .. after we master the basic wet market conversation, then if interested can go for the proper ... for me that's how I get the push, otherwise very lukewarm

here learn from Annie...if you can remember you will be able to speak tieng viet...but you lack motivations to learn fast...:)

personally IMHO...I felt that most sinkees dun like to learn...sinkees like to be spoonfed...becos you think anything can pay...haha...reason why I love Vietnam...only those who learned and invested in time and resources gets rewarded...:)

if sinkees going to HCM and still thinking using wechat and expect gems...VBs speak good english...well if you happy to do that...then please continue...nothing right or wrong...^^

Best way to learn get a con gai and talk every day video call. it force you to pick up though could be rough in beginning as both dun understand each other.

I subscribe to what H88 criteria in looking for a con gai to talk. Best do not know english or chinese. Just tv. then force myself to pick up.

Now slowly becoming my 3rd language...:D:D

haha...not going to waste my time...I rather spend time chat with VBs to improve my Tieng Viet...:)

over the years I had met many newbies who wanted to come to hcm...many just go there becos they have their own agenda...they have nothing to offer but only takers...some are unappreciative even when I helped...so nowadays I rather dun meet newbies...just spend time myself relaxed and enjoyed with friends...do more site seeing and traveling...oh also doing charity...helped the needy and poor in Vietnam...:)

people are just stubborn especially when young and think like heroes...only when slam into wall, then can wake up.

lucky for me, met you though hard medicine to swallow at first, but was damm useful in making me appreciate your advise over time.

haha...not referring to you...you wasted my little time but at least you tell me early...so no problem...:)

generally referred to those who met me in hcm and then talk big...after visiting some of the local entertainment still unhappy and think these are low class entertainment...haha...:)

even some newbies pm also can be demanding and unfriendly...so only will reply ad hoc pm...:)
