its not easy to maintain good food business in Batam if a place does not produce good food and has too many rules and regulations that binds one from eating conveniently (and comfortably). Kraopoek Food Court is a good example.

There are legit stories behind Kraopoek FCcourt and others including the now-defunct A1 FCourt. Not exactly gossip news, but just info knownst to insiders.

U could call first (early afternoon) to book the dishes, and then tell Anah approximate time of arrival (can be as late as 2030hrs) , that she and her husband be aware, especially for her husband to know roughly when to start prepping your reserved dishes in anticipation of arrival.

Not sure if you know : Coffee Town and Kangen (same boss) offer @ RP5K small portion meals ea during weekdays (suitable for you), and RP8K+ ea on weekends. So imagine for RP25K - one can order 5 dishes : mee rebus, chicken rice, nasi goreng, 3-sticks satay, Mee Soto, etc, etc (all RP5K per item). That's ALOT for 1 person. I would go there to eat, kill time, chillout instead of Kopi Toast. A suggestion.

Lastly, for solid asli-origin soups, gotta try RM. CIREBON @ Sekupang. Just do a google map search of the name and it'll show up. The beef rib soup and chicken soup are **MANTAP**. Add green chili sauce and black ketchup, and one will go... AIYYOOOOOOOoooooOOOOOO~~~~~~~~

Thank you for sharing this information,i just returned from Batam and yes, your "friend" shares the right information, but its Friday today in Batam so almost everywhere will be close to fully booked (unless its Happy 8 or Bunga). Will Friday the 13th be affecting their business? i doubt :D

Over the last 3 nights when we were there, most of our girls were from New Berry. :D

Happy 8 dont surprise me in this trip even if there are many many unbooked SYT girls (believe me,there must be some reason/s behind why the girls were constantly remain unbooked),there is a new Mami,an indian-looking lady who speaks very fluent hokkien and teo chew. I have a feeling that she's a good lady to bargain with.

Bunga was a little disappointment from my perspective tho they do have as many girls as in Happy 8 (many good service nice girls previous shared by friends/bros in this forum (and other forums) were still available) but Permata Indah surprised me with gem/s that cost 1 million rupiah to 1.2 million rupiah. My definition of a "gem" HERE define the girl/s base on SSYT looks 8/10 and/or above, hourglass slim figure,model-look-alike with superb good service, willing to give unlimited rounds and left the next day after 11am. This trip,i am TOTALLY impressed by Permata Indah booking joint. ;)

(more detail will be shared in my upcoming 22nd summary on how to spot these gems which i just learned)

If New Berry is a buyer's market,i believe other joints would have more leftovers. Only Gold Bird has very very limited choices over the last 4 days i was there. Near zero SYT (not becos they dont have, but most of them were advance booked off). Good service girls still there tho.

For newbie, stick to the 3 safe joints : Gold Bird,New Berry and Bunga.

2nd safe joint : Permata Indah

"Safe joint" here define as booking joints with the least runaway girls with lesser patterns/problems. Be reminded that least runaway girls with less patterns/problems here DO NOT MEAN no runaways or has girls that dont come out with patterns/problems. Its just lesser.

Sometime the problem lies with the customer/s. Some time the problem lies with the girl/s. Its a mind and attitude game on both side. I tends to look at the whole picture when one shares their FR. There is always a solution to everything.

Nice... hopefully can join you in your next group outing haha, need to get my passport renewed.

Mickey Mouse Bak Kut Teh

Following the suggestions of several well-seasoned bros here, I tried the Mickey Mouse Bak Kut Teh one year ago.
Sure, the quality of meat has nothing to do with the most popular place in Nagoya Hill street food, where meat is something of dubious substance (small pieces, all with same taste).

What I did not like was to see that they were cutting fresh meat and then boiling it for just few seconds in the big pot. I am sure this is the best way to preserve taste and probably follows the traditional recipe, but I felt somehow concerned about hygiene: in case some meat was not 100% healthy, contamined with bacteria or had parasites, such a short boiling cannot sanitize it. Anyway, neither me or any bro here ever had health problems, so that means it's ok.

Personally, I like more the strong taste with soya sauce of the black bak kut teh in Nagoya Hill, rather than the "white" versions, but definitely the meat at Mickey Mouse is of another (upper) category. Opinion of a westerner who is NOT expert of hokkien food, but just likes to try and enjoy the variety of good food in all the world.

PS: there is another reason why, if want to eat bak kut teh, I prefer to go to Nagoya Hill: the girls that walk around :D I am always mesmerized by those beauties who walk back and forth after shopping, choosing where to eat. That's a plus, which Mickey Mouse does not have :p

Re: Batam Info Thread

Promised Bro Nono my FR (went Sat, 14 Nov and return Sun 15 Nov) since he had provided the thread with really insightful information and assisted me with my questions via PMs. :)

1. Took the 9.40am ferry and reached Batam at 9.40am local time together with my other friend and this is both our first time to Batam. I thought I was chopped by the money changers at Harborbay as it was only 9450! But well, I had no IDR so I had to change some money first and I changed 50sgd. Went over to Horizon Ferry and booked our return ticket back on Sun (turned out to be a wise choice as the ferry we took at 2pm was close to full with probably less than 5 empty seats). Walk walk see see and was quoted 50k by a Chinese driver to Formosa hotel. Tried to bargain for discount but he said no and I agreed to the 50k as this is within the market rate. In the cab, I asked him casually how much he would charge us for using his service whole day plus sending us back to Harborbay next day. His quote was 500k and it's a special price coz he usually charged non-Chinese 700k. I rejected him politely and decide to hunt for cheaper taxi booking.

2. Reached Formosa hotel and we were lucky as our rooms were ready and we could check in immediately! My room was great and slightly bigger than my friend room and I had a 2-3px sofa rather than 2 individual sofa although the aircon was not really strong. Apparently, the Wifi in his room was strong as we had requested for that. Next, we went over to Lucky Plaza as I wanted to purchase a data sim card as I knew I would need Google map. Bought a 2GB simipati card for 100k with 50mins call time (the guy told me it's 500mins but I doubt so). Next we went over to the money changers opposite Formosa hotel to check on the fx rates. Was quoted between 9500 to 9590. I changed another 200sgd as my plan was to limit my spending's to no more than 350sgd in Batam inclusive of hotel room and ferry price (but later had to change another sgd50 as I was running low on IDR). After which, we went to hunt for our taxi driver. Saw this uncle and he couldn't speak much English and I had to translate my request to him using Google translator. He quoted me 500k but I counter-offer with 350k and he said ok. Was feeling skeptical but took up the offer still (in the end, he turned out to be a great driver - knows the places we want to go and mainly stick to his role as a driver and didn't offer any joints or restaurants for us to go). With almost everything settled, we went over to the minimart at Formosa Hotel to get some snacks and drinks. Told the driver to pick us up at 12pm to go for girls hunting. Plan to go Berry, Gold Bird, Permata Indah, Bunga, Happy 8 massage which are basically the 5 big joints.

3. First stop we went to was Berry. There were about 12-15 girls present but none captured our attention except maybe 1 for me but she wasn't exactly what I want too so we decided to leave. Next stop was Gold Bird. About 10-12 girls for selection but the choices were worse than Berry and I checked with the mami if this was all the girls and she said yes as most were booked in advance. At that point of time, we were feeling some disappointment but decided to continue with our hunt. Reached Permata Indah and WOW the choices were so much better and most of the girls were priced at 1-1.2m. There were about 15-18 girls when we reached at 12.30pm+. Both of us chose a fair girl costing us 1m each. I decided to go for a syt 21yrs old with multiple tattoos as she was really my cup of tea. I tried hard to negotiate with the mummy but she just wouldn't bulge but I told her to guarantee her girls won't run and they would stay till next morning. She said Yes, and I asked for her name card and told our driver to pick and send the girls to our rooms at 5pm.

4. Next up we were itching for some massage and decided to go with Delta massage even though in recent months, it has become a tourist chopping place. The spa interior was spacious, clean and neat. Went to the steam room followed by the warm jacuzzi and shower. Was led up to level 2 and a sales lady came over to sit and sell us the various packages. Wow, I've to comment the sales ladies at Delta Spa are pretty. Anyway, I told the sales lady we wanted the 3 sessions, basic room. She said no basic room available and we had to wait for 2 hours. The next tier would be deluxe or suite (I can't remember exactly) at 670k. The price was on the high side but since its 45minsx3 we said Yes as our experience so far in the Spa was positive. I told her we wanted pretty masseurs with good services. The normal massage was good and the sensual massage was fantastic. While performing the hj deed I asked if it's possible to touch the masseur and she quoted me 500k. I said no and laughed it off. She asked how much I'm willing to pay and I said 100k. She said no too but shortly after she said 100k is ok but only touch on the outside which I declined and the deal was off the table. But In my opinion, it's still money worth for me for the whole experience and my friend agreed too.

5. Went to A&W to grab some quickie snacks and headed back to our hotel to wait for our girls to be delivered. Driver promptly brought them to our room at 5pm and Wow my girl is really a head turner. Told her to sit on the sofa and asked if she wants any drink and I went to get it for her. Had some small talks and flirting using Google translator to get us into the mood. She was really accommodating and allowed frenching and the first round was good. Asked if she would like to join us for dinner and she said Yes and likewise same for my friend girl.

6. Decided to try out Marine Live Seafood. Ordered 5 dishes - sandshrew soup, French bean fried with chicken, mango chicken, home made tofu, salted egg prawns - and the taste was not too bad. Passed 50k to the taxi driver for his dinner cost and he was so happy. Before we ordered, I spoke to Denny and he recommended us the sandshrew soup which is rich in tonics and we probably need that. Price was 120k for the soup. Overall, price for the 5 dishes plus 4 rice and 4 drinks and 1 packet of cigarette for the girls were 492k. Not exactly cheap in my opinion.

7. Went to Nagoya Hill Mall to catch a movie since the night was still young and we chose Spectre. Movie ticket price was cheap at 35k each but the drinks and snacks were not. Should have restricted on the snacks ordered by the girls. Movie ended and we headed back and reached hotel at about 11.30pm. My girl was tired so I let her sleep and it's all the way till morning 8am+. When she woke up, we cuddled and she probably felt guilty and asked if I wanted sex. I said it's ok and hj would be fine. Pretty SOP hj and nothing special. She asked for taxi fare and I gave her 100k as I enjoyed her company from 5pm till we reached our hotel at 11.30pm. After that was abit disappointing since she slept all the way. My friend was in similar situation too but oh man his girl was not simple! She's not happy with 100k tips and demanded for more and wanted 200k. My friend said No as he doesn't have any IDR left but she said SGD is fine. Of course, my friend said No and she refused to leave. In the end, my friend gave her another 15k and asked her to get out. And before she left, she was cursing and swearing and kinda spoit my friend mood. She's 29yrs old already and I don't see how she can command 200k tips as her looks is so so to me. Furthermore, there's no spoken rule that tips must be given. Taxi fare I understand and 100k should be more than sufficient but she's so greedy.

8. Anyway, we headed to Mickey Mouse ba ku teh for our breakfast. Ordered 2 pork ribs soup with salted vege and you tiao and 2 ice milo. The taste was pretty good but not the price. 151k which I deemed as expensive. Headed back to Nagoya Hill Mall to purchase some crackers and kuis lapis before we head off back to Harborbay and had prata there which was nice and cheap. 13k for 2 konso prata.

My damage for the trip:
Ferry ticket - S$48
Hotel - S$56
Data sim card - 100k
Snacks, drinks from minimart - 100k
Delta spa - 670k
A&W - 70k
Girl booking and tips - 1.1m
Taxi costs - 450k (50+350+50) (shared)
Marine live seafood - 492k (shared)
Girls slippers at Nogoya Hill Mall - 110k (shared)
Movie ticket - 140k (shared)
Movie snacks - 201k (shared)
Mickey mouse ba ku teh - 151k (shared)
Kuis lapis - 80k
*Shared refers to me splitting the costs equally with my friend

All in I spent about S$405 for 2D1N in Batam. Kinda on the high side but nothing for me to benchmark against since it's my first trip there. Would rate 7/10 for the trip. :)

Plus points:
- early hotel check in
- found a taxi driver who's reliable
- got a syt which was my aim
- massage at Delta was fantastic

Minus points:
- expensive movie snacks
- dinner and breakfast were on the high side based on Batam standard of living
- girl sleeping all the way from 12am to 8am+
- my friend girl showing attitude before she left

Yes,agree. Maybe thats becos the "viewing tank" is kind of dark. In a dark place, our eyes tends to play tricks on us. When some girls stripped their make up,I almost faint…lol.

Anyway, some commandos have been dispatch there to recce,hehehe...will be awaiting results (if any returned alive...lol).

Bunga - A joint that takes most girls who finishes their contract from New Berry,Gold Bird ,some from Permata Indah joint and of course other booking joints. Happy 8 and Bunga switch their girls around too but not those from ex. New Berry,ex. Gold Bird or ex. Permata. I do see some MM/Indah2 girls there (at Bunga) too. They have some of the liveliest girls. Only an average of about 50% of their girls are being booked off on a daily basis, unless its public holiday eve that falls on long weekends, otherwise even on a normal weekends, one can still girls there. So if one is late to Batam (reaching after 4pm indo time) and cannot find girls, thats one of the place to look in. Just like in Happy 8 but service quality definitely better.

My most recent last trip ,Bunga appears to have very little girls (less than 12) and Happy 8 seems to have very much more girls. Maybe they planned to move over since both are supposingly sisters’ shop. During my 22nd Batam trip (the summary arent out yet),mami in Bunga clarifies that they arent moving over to Happy 8,hehehe...phew!

Gold Bird - Almost all the time will have new girls. But as their girls were 90% (almost 100%) fully booked off on a daily basis (even on weekdays),most arent that active or lively due to having to work non-stop thru out their contracted time. Girl's service here is quite standard which means it is unlikely to be out-of-the world GOOD or be out-off-the-world BAD. This place is for the early birdies. Note: New girls may not be pretty girls tho. And recently ,they kept some girls that ends their contract too. A lot of their girls has been pre-booked in advance.

In my last trip ,my friend booked a 21 year old ssyt at 800k who later left at 4am. (according to my friend, other than the part that she leaves early, the girl is good in terms of everything for the 3 rounds)

New Berry - Almost same concept like Gold Bird with new girls. Girls are a bit livelier than Gold Bird but their SYTs can be quite unstable. Average about 70% of their girls are being fully booked on weekdays and almost 100% on weekends. This place is also for the early birds. If one is looking to draw 1st blood (new girls),this is the right place. But recently, girls getting lesser so choices are becoming limited. And a girl i personally took from there left at about 3am (in the 21st trip)....*sob*

Permata Indah - Same concept as New Berry/Gold Bird, also with constantly incoming of new girls. Like New Berry, average of around 70% of their girls will be booked off daily. Its has the least livelier girls amount the 4. Most of their good and better girls will be gone by 5pm. They open late and closes late (they are afterall a KTV). Most girls were less livelier during the day as most girls worked late into the night. A place of late comers, other than Bunga.

Those who are regular to Gold Bird and New berry will likely see most of the girls in Bunga before but they will be priced at 20% to 30% higher. Bunga tho their girls are higher-priced is one of the top 3 safer joints for newbies, comparable with New Berry and Gold Bird. This 3 places is where all newbies should at least visit once if they happen to have a not-so-good 1st/2nd trip. ;)

Dont forget to collect namecards/OKT HP numbers from the 4 joints ,Gold Bird,Bunga,New Berry and Permata Indah upon payment. Runaway from the 3 safest joints (new berry,Gold Bird and Bunga) may be relatively low,but then again it does not mean there is zero runaways, just the lowest rate among all other joints.

The rest like Happy 8,MM and Indah2,they falls under my same category. Not exactly suitable for newbies if one does not know their operating culture well enough. Happy 8 is a bit better than MM and Indah2,but i do not categorize them under the 3 safer booking joint like New Berry,Gold Bird and Bunga (and even Permata Indah).

Speaking and sharing base on my consolidated and physical personal experience on Batam.

In numbers,i tink Happy 8 is comparable with Hawaii & Bunga.

No,i dont dare to put Hawaii with Bunga. Hawaii has runaways, has girls (SYTs/MILFs) that do not provide the ISO8888 standard service,hehehe...so no,Hawaii will be categorize at best with Permata Indah (unconfirmed) or the next level down,Happy 8. :D

Just my own opinion.

Yea,i see as many girls in the "back stage" as in the "front stage" at Gold Bird. This,i am impressed. Those at the back stage were mostly pre-booked. If i add the back stage and front stage girls,it can anytime number up to 40+ girls. Gold Bird is always close to 100% taken up rate on weekdays...101% on weekends.

Smoothly yes ,for the 22nd trip. Everyone was very cooperative,hehehe...and one thing i observe in this group was they pick their girls super fast. They are one of the fastest i believe and i am very glad that ALL OF THEM have at least one night of good time (vice versa as one of other night isnt too good) with their girl/s.

Thank you bro,but please do note that there are at least 3 Mickey Mouse in Batam. One in Batam Center area, one at Penuin area. The one that you say i debunk the rumours was near the Formosa Hotel branch.

Sorry,i just need to clarify this.

About 7 to 8 trips ago,i already told the auntie in Mickey Mouse about them pouring their soup back to the soup pot.Back then, she claimed they didnt do that. But i can only confirm her claim with other eye-witnesses in this 22nd trip.

I doubt i am going back there again. Reason as in they increased their price. I am likely to try out the other 2 Mickey Mouse Bak Kut Teh for future trips tho.

The Bak Kut Teh in Nagoya uses Pork that has been left in the fridge frozen for too long, not fresh and taste sour. The one at Sinar Bulan is alright except the part of their overly cooked rice. The one at Astro Food Court and A2 Food court is good ,just a little on the salty side. Indo Rasa food court one should be just nice for me.

Of all the bua Kut tey, I like the Astro best. to add on, there is curry puff that opens in the day time only, until later afternoon. At night, there is this Satay padang.

One of my favourite eating place.

Drinking wise? A2 or some other food courts.
