Wat u say may come true........ insider grapevine says the Americanos unable to secure any loan financing from their US bankers for "soccer".

Pool could even kickoff next season without a manager.

Why do you guys just read everything in the press as if it's the holy bible?? Fans on the Kop are supposed to be knowledgeable ... not plain followers.

Rafa is contracted to the club (for a few more years yet) ... so there's no way the club will be kicking off this Aug without a manager. To put my mouth where the money is, I offer a $1k wager on this issue anytime before 30 Jun.

The only reason why there's still no actions on the transfer market is becoz Rafa is waiting to do business with Spanish club & until the season ends this weekend, no club will wanna do business becoz prices are tagged to their own ability to earn Champions League money next season (& hence keep their
own high profile stars). The opposite means they would then have to consider selling their stars to rebuild for next season.

As for why Rafa pulled out of the Bent deal, you guys really think a England U21 international is worth 17m pounds?? Come on, even Malouda or Simao who are setting their own leagues alight cost no more than 12m-15m pounds ...

Think about it ... YNWA.

Guess you beat me to the post, bro. Not gonna wager $1k though ;)

A Reds source? The mighty spy crows at Anfield or the kacham puteh man? Heheh.

PS. As another fan said, 17m for a player who can't even get into the England squad is just nuts.

If any transfer of that kind of money is to be done on an English striker, it can only be for Jermaine Defoe ... but I think he's happy to earn his keeps at Spurs until Keane retires.
Dun bother reminding me a certain Mr Owen is also worth that money ... I dun believe in re-employing my staff when they have had the least regard for my company's interest in the first place, as I dun believe in sending the wrong message out to my other staff that such disloyalty can be both forgotten & forgiven.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Liverpool co-owner George Gillett insists pressure to spend on players this summer will not force the club into mega-bucks deals just to "prove something".

The expected blitz of the transfer market following Gillett and Tom Hicks' takeover of the Reds earlier this year has so far failed to materialise, amid suggestions that manager Rafael Benitez has become disillusioned with the lack of funds made available to him by the Americans.

So far, Bosman signing Andriy Voronin and young Brazilian Lucas Leiva are the only major new arrivals - hardly the established world-class talents the Liverpool faithful were hoping for.

But while Gillett admits he is privy to the fans' frustration, he insists the Reds regime will not be forced into any +++en buys.

"I sense that kind of pressure building from the media," he told The Times.

"I think the fans know that we have huge regard for Rafa. He has a number of initiatives and concepts and plans under way.

"We're not going to do something just to try to prove something. I can assure you that we are working on different things.

"What we've said and what Rafa has said was that we had a programme and he would share that with us and that we would support it.

"The first part was that we identified a number of our existing star players (Jose Reina, Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso) whom Rafa wanted to sign on long-term contracts.

"That was the first step and it has been done. Now we're moving on to phase two, which is bringing players in."

Gillett insists the time to judge the club's owners will be when the summer's dealings are completed.

"For Tom and me, this really is about trying to win championships. And that takes commitment, no matter what sport," he added.

"We are pleased with Rafa and his strategy. It's not dissimilar to what he outlined to us in February.

"His belief is to look for players with the proper chemistry to enhance the team.

"We support Rafa. He has a programme under way and, as that unfolds, that will be the time for us to be judged, not now."

that's the problem... English players are way too expensive
Benitez won't waste such a big sum of our transfer kitty
2 more months to new season, we have time to source around
trust the Reds scouts to get us good deals

i agree that bent is not worth that much. but i feel that bent is a good inclusion, but of course, for the right price.

i dont agree that jermaine defoe is worth that much though. and somehow feel that he is not suitable for the setup at pool, but cant put my finger on it...:p

but i totally agree with u on the issue with owen...:D

Transfer Gossip

"Blues ready to offload £10m SWP
Chelsea have sparked a summer scramble for winger Shaun Wright-Phillips by admitting he can leave Stamford Bridge for £10million"

The Blues boss knows Wright-Phillips has a number of admirers willing to meet the club's asking price, with West Ham, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle and his former employers City all set to vye for his signature

Well bro, how many English strikers are really useful for us? We have bought one of them, lost one of them (and it seems many of us hate him intensely heheh), Shrek is hated even more having donned the Blue jersey and then the *other*, hated Red jersey, and then we have all these fringe, over-rated strikers as mentioned above. ;)

I think the experience of Scum and Chelshit in past few seasons has shown the value of spending big on a few world class players. Their signings have all been overpriced but most have worked, except for the famous two duds at Stamford Bridge. I'm afraid we have to follow suit but only for truly world class players and not only the "good ones".
