Rafa will look younger if you don't focus on the very top and middle of his torso. But nice new look still! The Cisse of the new season maybe? :D

Torres close to Liverpool switch, says press

Written by: AFP

Atletico Madrid´s Spanish international striker Fernando Torres, seen here in February 2007. Spanish press reported that Atletico Madrid star Torres was closer than ever to making a move to English Premiership side Liverpool.

MADRID (AFP) - Spanish press reported on Saturday that Atletico Madrid star Fernando Torres was closer than ever to making a move to English Premiership side Liverpool.

Reports claim that Liverpool have offered attacking midfielder Luis Garcia and 32 million euros in an attempt to prise the striker away from Madrid.

"Barring a strange and unexpected turn of events, the Atletico captain will don the colours of Liverpool next season," said El Pais.

And according to sports newspaper Marca, the clubs have agreed on the deal and it is now down to 23-year-old Torres to make the final decision.

On Wednesday the BBC had claimed that the two clubs were in negotiations with Atletico holding out for 45 million euros and Liverpool refusing to let Garcia leave.

Atletico have always said they will never sell Torres despite the Spanish press constantly linking him with moves away from the club.

However the club's major shareholder Gil Marin did say recently that no-one was irreplaceable.

IMHO i feel that torres will struggle to adapt to the style of play of liverpool. Arsenal style of play will suit torres better.

Yah, according to our style of play, we should sign defensive players for all positions, agger will be in midfield and momo will be striker. Let arsenal and the scum have all the attacking players.

It's not like that lah ...
As the ultimate professional, they can only say Torres is not good enough ... but until Hicks or Gillette officially announce the arrival of these crap messiahs, they are obliged to keep up their sleeves the actual signings who (in their critically analytical mind) would make the real difference lor.

Luis Garcia set for Atletico move

Liverpool forward Luis Garcia is set to complete a permanent move to Atletico Madrid in the next 24 hours, according to the player's agent.

The Spanish international has been linked with a return to his former club, who are believed to be close to agreeing a separate £27million deal for striker Fernando Torres to move the other way.

'We are working on Luis Garcia's permanent transfer to Atletico de Madrid,' Garcia's agent Manuel Garcia Quillon told PA Sport.

'If all goes well, the deal should be completed either today or tomorrow.'

Garcia arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2004 from Barcelona and played a pivotal role in the Reds winning the Champions League that season.
