Current PL table

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

We played excellently in the first half particularly first 20mins and arguably should have led by 2.
2nd half was dull as ditch water but can't blame our guys, no one could keep up such killer pace after that first half blitz, unfortunately without enough returns.

We were missing 3 first teamers. VVD Thiago and Fabinho, not forgetting TAA coming off injured, really hope that one is not too bad. Those are huge losses-the spine of any team. Who were City missing? Just Aguero.

So all in a very good point.

Very pleased with the return of Matip, just hope he lasts longer this time. Gomez was good as well but thought Hendo was our motm.

Pissed off about the pens though. If Gomez was considered a pen then what about Cancelo? Also saw that snake Sterling trying to influence the ref. Must say that Cancelo was really very good for City. KDB and Sterling on the other hand were pretty average.

Looking at the table, seems more and more like an open season this time albeit early days. That said, we are in a good position with Thiago and Fabinho to return after the international break. Hopefully no other injuries and TAA to return as well.

Interesting analysis bro.

Pity, think it almost worked out for us in the first 30mins last night. If only we were more clinical. That said Jota was not up to his usual best although to be fair to him 442 might have been confusing? 433 more risky though so can understand why Klopp did this since he wanted to play both Jota and Bobby.

Still have to be pleased with the draw, all things considered.

Here are some reasons why I think a 3-0 win is possible. But for this scoreline to be possible, we need to score the 2nd goal within 15 mins of the first goal. Man City has a mental block when they concede goals in quick succession.

1. Home advantage is not much when it is an empty stadium. We won 5-0 away in Italy, 2-0 away in Chelsea. Playing away without a hostile crowd works for us.

2. Man City is not as free scoring this season. Their 3 top scorers are Sterling (5), Torres (4), Foden (3). Our top 3 scorers are Salah (9), Jota (7), Mane (5). Our strikers are almost all on form. They scored 9 goals while we had scored 17 goals in the PL so far.

3. Even though we drew 1 and lost 1 so far, these are games played when Adrian is goalkeeper. Adrian conceded 8 goals in these 2 goals. Under Allisson, we are really more stable at the back. Has Man City really solved their defensive issues? Plus, our front 3 will help out in pressing and defence. Their front 3 may not help out in defending.

4. I saw something different in our last match. I actually don't know who is playing in the middle. Sometimes, it is Salah, then Jota. As a CB, who do you mark? If Firmino plays, normally he is in the middle. That makes it easier for opposing CB. I think Bobby will play some part but unlikely play the full 90 mins.

5. Then normally the opponents will line up their back 4 using our last attacker as a gauge. So if their back 4 stands in line with Salah, what I saw is Jota will stand 2-3 metres behind the offside line. Once he gets the ball and start running, the CB have to catch up with him from a standing start. Not easy. Sometimes it is Mane who will be in line with the back 4 while Salah and Jota stand 2-3 metres behind the offside line. Given how speedy all 3 are, the way they take turns to play with opponent's set up of the offside line is scary.

6. We are an unusual side. When teams concede a corner, their opponents see it as a chance to try to score a goal. When Liverpool concedes a corner, opponents are scared we will use the corner as a way to counter attack. So many of our guys can run like crazy during a counter attack. :D The way we concede a corner is like how Wechat sex scams work. We bluff you to go to a place (our penalty box) with false promises (scoring from a corner) then cheat your feelings (with a sucker punch counter attack). So once bitten (conceding from a counter attack), when Liverpool concedes the next corner, teams have a is it another wechat sex scam again where you invite me to a place (your penalty box) with false promises and then sucker punch me again?? :p

If we do not win the title this season, it is because we lose to VAR and not to any other team. Those offsides and handballs are going to cost us many points.

Pool was also not that good last night imo. I would say after the 1st 20mins the performance went downhill. Mcity was clearly the team that would be more likely to score the winning goal especially in the 2nd half. Pool was lucky also that KDB missed his penalty. Pool definitely need to step up their performance. A good point earned last night nevertheless.

Trent joined the injury long list with calf muscle tear and will miss 4 weeks.

Just too many matches for the first team playing every 3 days rest.

Think Firmino time up?

Playing Fab 4 strikers upfront versus MC was amazing Klopp.

I am not sure if Klopp wanted to catch City by surprise by using the Fab 4 combo but it will not work.
Klopp should know this well when he tried the Fab 4 combo during Coutinho days.
It might be great on paper but on the field the team will struggle.
Jota was lost in City's game while Firmino was bad.

If only Pool had Thiago Gini n Hendo in midfield would be perfect to control the game in midfield against Citeh..
Overall a draw against Citeh wasn't a bad result..

at least a much needed break for the team to recuperate.

next home game against Leicester City will be tough one again, followed by Atalanta and then away game to Brighton.

hopefully we can have Thiago and Fabinho back in 1st team.

Actually not sure what's up with Firmino. He will always be a fan favourite so even if he leaves, we have to part respectfully. He has no reported injury and is playing well at the moment for Brazil. Brazil doesn't need him to do defensive duties or press from the front of course. Perhaps he is sian of doing all the hard work and not having the chances to score. Maybe it is time to let him go on a new adventure after this season... like go play for Bayern Munich.

Pity Klopp started all 4. This means he pushed Jota to right midfield. Jota is on good form for scoring. At right midfield, he has to cover TAA when TAA goes up. Jota has to help provide cover partly because Sterling is playing on TAA's side. If Jota starts the match playing in the front 3... sure exciting.
