J8 exchange rate @ 6pm today= SGD$1 - 16111 dong

I will be @ HCM from 6th Sept ~ 9th Sept 13. (flight booked)

Stay @ A&Em 39 hotel. (Hotel booked)

Any brother around during that period of time can meet up for dinner / explore together.

xe.com rate as of 20:55 hrs on 1 July 2013 is 1 SGD = 16,657 VND
That is the mid-market rate which you can conveniently use as a guide.

In HCMC on the black market (gold stores, money changers, Ben Thanh Market etc.) you will likely get 16,800 or so.

Bottom line: Don't buy VND in Singapore, you will always get a bum rate.

try not to change too much in the hcm airport...just change SGD 50 enough to pay taxi to get to hotel...then change around ben thanh market should get better rate...:)

best rate is at this money changer...stall 624 inside cho ben thanh...use entrance no. 4...business hours daily 10am to 6pm...many ppl tell me cannot find but i had changed here for past few years...if you cannot find then just change at any goldsmith shop around ben thanh market which is slightly lower than this money changer...:)

today should get 16800+ looking at my signature....:)

I am a newbie to HCM, solo traveler and cannot speak Vietnamese language.

Will you guys be in HCM during that period of time where i could have the honor to invite you for a dinner and learn abit more about HCM from you guys.

I have done some homework myself based on Bro Hurricane88 information.

Since i am staying in A&Em 39 hotel (Girls friendly), my massage option will be Le Duyen 1, Le Duyen 4, Duyen Dang 1 & Duyen Dang 3 which are all within walking distance from my hotel. (I love massage)

Wanted to go to famous D.max 1 but realized that not quite possible to go on foot.

Disco, Bar and Pub is not an option cause i am a really lousy drinker.. (embarrassed)
KTV is not realistic and cost effectove for solo traveler like me.

Lastly would really like to find a girl to warm my bed every night (from places where i know where to find the girl when my belongings goes missing the next morning) and keen to try the BBBJ shop in HCM. Can bro enlighten me on any suggested venue for the above 2 activities and market rate for them?

Apologized if the above information had been shared before but i tried my very best to read through the Vietnam threads and not really able to find the answers in any of the related posts.

What a polite post.

No need to call it an 'honour' but thanks for your invite to dinner. Unfortunately I will not likely be in HCMC during that time.

Regarding your hotel, A&Em is a chain of hotels operating in the downtown area that is known to be girl friendly. The hotel name is "A&Em", not "A&Em 39". I think you have booked yourself at the 39 Thu Khoa Huan branch, therefore I think you have mistakenly added their street number from their address to the hotel name.

Apart from the salons you have listed within walking distance of your hotel, going to DMax is only a short taxi ride away (about 5-7 mins and less than VND30.000 on the meter).

As far as finding a girl to warm your bed every night, the most convenient option for a solo traveller was recently raided, leaving only 1 or 2 outlets open on that stretch of street. The situation on the ground will likely be different by the time you get here in early September, so its best to check back closer to that time.

the easiest way for a solo traveller who has no experience here to find a gal at night is to ask the hotel bell boy to introduce.and i am sure the night shift bell boy will make the 1st approach when they see the male guest comes back alone at night.

if really enjoys real massage then i wouldnt reccommend those outlets that u mention..massage skills from the gals there are just moderate and i simply enjoy more while they were doing hairwash and facial for me.but do go and have a try since its only 5 mins walking from the hotel.its a gd place to keep away from afternoon heat by spending 30-35 Sgd.

Those LD1,2,3,4 saloon...my advice is go once for the experience. There are many clean massage & footie places in HCM that are cheaper and better than the LD type. The gals in LD are now asking a lot for tips in the range of 200 to 300k. Those massage and footie has nice looking gals as well and normally I tip 100k. Their massage skill is a lot better than the LD gals. If u need recommendation...can pm me

Go now later no more good choice...Go in choose your girl you like and pay the bar fine which is 500K VND (USD 25) and ST is 1.2mil VND (USD 60) and LT is 2.2mil (USD 100). You can get your drink off-set with the bar fine but they may pretend if you dun ask. Try to go before 8pm for best girls selection...:)

Hardworking, u will get at least a bonk even it is a bad f. Lazy, will get u nothing. U are lucky H88 provided u the info, else u will be in hotel watching Discovery or Animal Planet.
