Actually, I thought the header was nothing much ... basically capitalising on defensive error - totally unmarked at a set-play, resulting in a free header.

What impressed me was the first actually ... did any of you noticed the little jink by Babel before the ball was allowed to run on to Gerrard?? This is really positive a change 'coz Gerrard is really good at such surges from the blind side & the attention given to the other potential scorers around him will allow him more room for such surges. :D

The coming matches in HK & Amsterdam will have more bearings ... as the other opponents will have more reason to really wanna win the games against LFC. Let's see how the games turn out by then.

Of course I agree it's too early to judge our pre-season when it's not yet finished but beating Auxerre and Bremen are good results.

I think we really suffered last season when we brought in new wingers and strikers and failed to gell in the pre-season. We have again bought in new forwards this time and we had better make better use of our pre-season games to let them settle in.

Rafael Benitez has publicly confirmed his interest in Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze.
Speaking at a press conference in Hong Kong, ahead of Liverpool's first game in the 2007 Barclays Asia Trophy, Benitez revealed the Reds have made an offer for the Argentine international.

This offer was rejected by United but the Anfield boss is not giving up on the deal.

He said: "We made an offer which they rejected. The lawyers are now working on it and so we have to wait. He's a good player

Court case ? and looks like Rafa really thinks highly of him

Liverpool advanced to the Asian Trophy final with a 3-1 win over South China.

Steven Gerrard missed the game with a groin injury, and new signings Ryan Babel and Fernando Torres, were also missing from the side as their international clearance didn't come through in time, but goals from John Arne Riise, Xabi Alonso and Daniel Agger secured the victory.

However, the goal of the day went to South China's Li Haiqiang who curled a brilliant free kick into the top corner of Scott Carson's net from 30 yards.

The Reds will now meet Portsmouth in the final on Friday, who booked their place with a 1-0 victory over Fulham earlier in the day.

Saw the match last night, not impressive with the REDS as I thought it will be. Let see if it can improve when they meet Portsmouth.
