Once u exit the customs, but still inside the bldg, turn to your right and walk all the way to the far end... almost last or 2nd last counter to find the Mailinh taxi booth. There a SYT will sell u a taxi coupon (vnd200k if i remember correctly..), advise u not to pay any more tips to the driver and she will hold your hand and lead u to the taxi outside. Good or not? Don't forget to ask for her hp. :p

The service crew don't speak English and I was like, begging for a cab.. it seems, from the earlier discussion, that a ticket is required before boarding. Is it still the case now ? How much the ticket cost, excluding the meter fare?

Dam Sen park

If you are looking for slightly eccentric fun in Ho Chi Minh City, Dam Sen Park can be your ideal choice.

This park, which stands in the district 11 of Ho Chi Minh City, can be considered as a green haven in the midst of this bustling city. The infrastructure of Saigon’s Dam Sen Park is divided into 30 segments. The landscape gardens of this park are adorned with pagodas, lakes, an ice-block wonderland and a roller coaster. Among the several gardens of the park, the Nam Tu Royal Garden is worth mentioning. The huge animal structures built by using coconut shells and CDs, in the middle of the park, are very popular among kids.

Location: 3 Ð Hoa Binh, District 11, Ho Chi Minh City.

Generally considered the largest tourist attraction in Ho Chi Minh City, it has an evening dinner cruise with cultural show.

Re: Vietnam - HCM (Thread 3)

Think time to be serious...

Today is lunar 12 month 1st day and only 30 days before CNY or TET festival in Vietnam...if you dun know TET is same day 19 Feb and 20 Feb...the Vietnamese celebrate TET in big way...many will go back to province...riding their bike up to 5-6 hrs...will reach An Giang...so those living around Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Long An, Dong Thap etc will ride their motorbike home for TET...thus hcm will be less traffic...and only happened yearly on TET...:)

If you happened to go hcm around this time...a few things to take note...

1. Crime like pick pocket, snatch theft, etc on the rise
2. Gals will be keen to go ST or LT because earned more money for TET...careful of scam...gals will leave after 1 shot
3. Some gals had went home and mostly will leave hcm before 17 February...gals will return to work from 25 feb onwards
4. If you have not purchased tickets to fly during TET surely very expensive now
5. From eve of TET onwards hcm hawkers will rest and may commence only a week later
6. Only hotels, large cafés and shopping centers still operating during TET with skeleton staff
7. Hawkers will charge more during 19 -21 Feb If they do operate half day or so

So pls make your plans early...as for me I will not go hcm during TET...:)

thank you for sharing...Dam Sen park is segregated into Dry and Wet...the entrance is separate and price is different...:)

If you pay for Wet then you are prepared for swimming or playing water...if you pay for Dry then you are also prepared to pay for rides...:)

when I was there last year during a Sunday, I think there is around 10k ppl inside the park...if you go during Weekend or Public Holidays then be prepared for very crowded parks...careful your belongings if you at the Wet section...:)

we book a 14 seat bus for 3 days. We had 8 pples . It cost us 4.2M. The driver stay in Can Tho so we need not to pay for driver foods. To me it consider cheap cos when we divide the cost, it about $70 per couple only for 3 days

Very nice - thank you.
The same thing in China - and how too many have totally forgotten what the Lunar New Year SHOULD mean.
Especially sad/disgusting that too many parents just totally exploit their daughters.

Yes, in China too many times it's even a worse situation.
Families with more than one child are usually only from the poor rural areas (One-child policy), and the daughter is usually the elder sibling. Parents pressure their daughters to build a house - which the son "needs" - and will get - in order to get married.

And even if a girl is an only child, village peer pressure on the parents will also result in the daughter being made to build a house, send home at least half of her income, come home during CNY with gifts not only for her immediate family, but also the furthest flung relatives - which means just about everybody in their village!

Things like this why a LOT of girls (I'd even estimate a majority) become WG's.
