Amazingly over the past week, there is research that says Man U is the 2nd best run club in the EPL after Spurs. The amount of money he spent as Man U manager doesn't affect their finances. Never qualify for Champions League also hardly affect them financially.

Our on field success can't help us to compete with them financially.

Thanks for the stuff on FFP and PSR bro

But my point actually relates to Cole Palmer's very high quality football skill ability at only 22yo and English as well

Why then would Pep & City want to sell such an extremely valuable long term asset like Palmer?

And surely Palmer is much more valuable than £40m?

Also not forgetting that Chelsea is a potential local rival

Clearly Chelsea got a very good bargain deal

Due to financial fairplay rules, a team that sells a player can add the transfer fee in 1 financial year while a team that buys a player spreads the transfer fee over the course of the contract.

Means when Man City sells him, it's an immediate $40m profit in their accounts (he was a Man City academy graduate so considered $0 cost to the club.) Plus $40M into this financial year. Very useful for Financial Fair Play. Same reason why Man U sold academy graduates Mason Greenwood and Scott McTominay.

For Chelsea, the $40m cost is spread over the length of his contract. So if a 5 year contract is given, this $40m transfer will appear as a $8m cost over 5 financial years.

The actual term if you wish to google is (Profit and Sustainability Rules -PSR)

Bro Escobar,
why because Cole had been asking for several seasons to leave.

Read old article below.

Thanks a bunch for the link bro

Surprised Pep could not convince Cole Palmer to stay on at City though

Pep must now be disappointed looking at what Palmer has been doing for Chelsea this season

Guess 'revenge' for Chelsea after 'giving away' KDB to City:rolleyes::D

1. Best way to balance the books is to sell an academy player. They cost the club nothing and Man City can book $40m immediately into that financial year.

2. Potential doesn't equate success. He may turn out to be a big flop too. We sold so many academy players at high prices and they turned out to be flops. $40m for unproven talent is an attractive offer.

3. Hard to retain him because the Man City squad had David Silva/Nasri?/Rodri. Hard to get regular playing time. Plus Chelsea need to spend $1.5 billion (if I recall) as part of the deal to buy over from Roman Abramovich. His wages at Chelsea will be much higher too. Man City will find it hard to match due to FFP restrictions.

4. Man City doesn't care about selling to local rivals. Arsenal changed for the better after Man City sold Gabriel Jesus for a token £25 million. Pep and Arteta are childhood friends. Artete was Man City number 2 manager then too.

5. Local rivals haha... Chelsea even loaned Rahim Sterling to an already strong Arsenal. If this year Arsenal still don't win the league, it will be very laughable.

Solid win 2-0 home to Bologna.

2 wins in UCL. Hope can get automatic spot without playoff and adding more games,

I suspect Pep could not guarantee Cole match time that Cole wanted.
His bet has worked out as Savinho has been doing well on the left...
Again, my thoughts, Cole probably wanted the KDB role where Cole is in 3rd place.
After KDB, there is Foden, then Cole.

At Chelsea, he has a relatively free role and relishing it.

Still early . Believe by the time when more matches play you will find the usual teams occupied the top table

Our new signing is a sick chicken...... he has been spending more time in the medical room than on the pitch.
No wonder Juventus were so quick to get rid of him.

To be expected with the early kick off and a midweek game. Take the 3 points and run.

We were good in the first half but rubbish for much of the second. Don’t know if it was Macallister going off or Mateta coming on a bit later but we lost control and have to thank Alisson for pulling off some fine saves before he got injured. Also think we got lucky when Guehi was pulled back by Virgil, possibly a penalty?

We won’t get away with giving lots of chances to the teams we’ve got coming up though. I guess we’ll find out after the games against Chelsea, Leipzig, Arsenal, Leverkusen, Villa, Madrid and City. But overall Slot’s doing superb so far.

Worried about Alisson's injury but must say how confident did Jaros look when he came on!
Goalkeeping seems to be one area where we don't seem to lack depth.

A win is a win although is narrow win.

Juergen Klopp is joining Red Bull as its global head of soccer, less than six months after stepping down as Liverpool FC’s coach. Will oversee all Red Bull clubs
