and will be hoping man c can beat their neighbour, and of course a big win for us against the moaner team. but looks like moaner team do score more goal nowadays, even without their DD/

dont bet nowadays... kekeke...

moaner team can score, but against reading and birmingham, chelski r expected to score against them. but to concede goals against mediocre teams and getting totally outplayed in the 1st half by reading last nite really perks me up!!! now, they r not going to have it easy with JC and company and the liverpool strike force is of a different league against those they have conceded against.:D

Steven Gerrard will be available for Sunday's showdown against Chelsea despite suffering a hairline fracture in his toe.
Scans this morning revealed the midfielder sustained a minor fracture during Wednesday's Champions League qualifier in Toulouse.

Rafa Benitez said: "He has a hairline fracture in his toe. I think he will be available for the weekend. The only problem is, if we push him now, he might need a little bit of a rest afterwards.

"I was talking to the doctor and he said it is not a big risk for him to play, though there is always some risk."

Benitez revealed Gerrard may need one or two weeks of rest if selected against Chelsea, which in all likelihood will rule him out of England's friendly versus Germany on August 22.

"If we want to push him for this game, it would be a risk to push him again and again, because it could become more serious," said the Spaniard.

"I still need to talk to Steve McLaren but I think he will understand it would be a big risk."

Big crunch match coming up....
I hope if it is not necessary, don't field Gerrard...
Don't want our general to be out longer coz he is our trump card. :D

I think Benitez should withdraw Gerrard for the friendly against Germany, as i expect the match to be fiercely competitive. This is to protect our chief general.
No point risking it as it is just a warm-up match before England's next Euro Nations match...

I would not say they are overated cause they do have a good team...

Yeah, it might be a minor fracture but it's not worth the risk. Michael Essien, you know! Won't want Stevie to be out half the season, not when we been having fun over the fortunes of Shrek and the step-over guy. :D

I agree with you bro. StevieG should be rested until full heal..Steve McLaren should not field him too...

My feel is that Rafa will play Gerrard ... but either in the middle of a 3-men central midfield (the other 2 being Alonso & Mascherano) or on the right, therefore preventing a direct confrontation with Essien but not reducing any of the initiative to secure 3 home points against the Blues.
Dun think Gerrard would wanna miss this game too ... after that, I think he will be rested until the 2nd leg against Toulouse.

Life's like that ... that's why there's this age-old saying: he who laughs last laughs best!!
So, as much as we feel tickled about the fortunes of Shrek & Diver, let's just keep a straight face for the time being.

they dont need a right (or left for that matter) manager. they need one with balls to stand up to popular players and popular opinion, field the best players in those positions and not just get the most popular players in, and then slot them in any position...

3 man midfield? That's negative leh for a home game. I was thinking Babel could replace Pennant on the right as he is much more of a goal threat and we take the game to Chelsea (but then Rafa would probably think Pennant scored a stunner against them last time around).

Maybe a lot of us are over-reacting on Stevie's injury - maybe a hairline fracture in the toe isn't that bad huh.

I do think it's a massive game, whatever Rafa might say. We won away for the first time in an opening league match under Rafa. If we could beat a 'top 4' side next, we will really start to believe in ourselves as title contenders. And no, I won't be laughing about this till the ref blows. :D

I sure hope to see Crouchy playing... With Terry out, Crouch can really cause lots of trouble to the Chelski defence with high balls and headers...

Sometimes route 1 is the best way to attack! :D

If the 3 were Alonso-Macherano-Sissoko, then it's negative ... but with a 3 consisting of Gerrard, who'll be deployed in an unmarkable run-in-from-deep-type of 2nd striker. I'm not so sure that should be considered negative ... agree?? :D

He will definitely play Babel, but not on the right ... simply becoz there's no one to play on the left liao. Playing Riise as the left winger means playing Arbeloa ... personally, I think he's only good for the continental game.

IMHO, even if he doesn't play Gerrard on the right, I still think it'll be Benayoun over Pennant ... simply becoz of the ball-keeping ability, plus that little bit more of football intelligence in the Israeli.

actually i was awed by c.ronaldo taking shots after shots against portmouth's keeper. nowadays he's shooting from the hip, as they say.

bro my hair is wet already lah, but if cannot win derby game then i will take a break until payday. :D
