Bros heading to Pattaya plz take heed. So far I've not personally heard of anyone that was unfortunate enough to get drugged and robbed. Best precaution is to take the registered taxis. Located within the airport at Basement 1 there are counters for this. Be wary if someone approaches you and offers a taxi ride for a much cheaper price than the ones quoted by the taxi counter.

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has warned passengers who use taxi services to be cautious as a number of passengers were looted by taxi drivers after the driver had put some chemical that will make you unconscious.

But the rate of this activity has increasingly risen, making the FDA decide to warn tourists and Thais. They will also send you door-to-door to most hotels (big or small) in Pattaya so long as they are located along the main roads. Thailand is not that scary if you remember that you are a foreigner in a foreign country. Yes keep you guard up but not be so kiasi-kiasu that you forget how to enjoy yourself. Thousands of tourists visit Thailand every year and only a very small percentage get into trouble.
