We should have lost it as Pompey had the better chances of scoring (penalty & Utaka) than us.
Don't know why Rafa kept all the speedy attackers on the bench, with Porto match in mind ? I am very disappointed with Crouch who played without passions, will be surprised if he is still with us next season.
It's the first below par performance in BPL from us, 2 wins & 1 draw from 3 away games, I for one am gald to take that. Let's not jerk our knees now, there are 33 more games to come.

It's very tiring after jetting around playing for your countries...... Boss picked those players who were not involved in internationals and are fresh. It's also tough and energy sapping playing an afternoon game under the hot sun.

After all his concerns voiced in the media, Crouch shows why he is the lowest in the current striking pecking order. IMHO, its one point gained. It would have been easy for us to lose this match. But still underfeated in the league is not a bad run i suppose. YNWA.

Pool will need to keep the momentum going or they will start losing silly points.
And points gap will start building...

I think Rafa is smart to say a point each is fair enough....

He knew we were lucky to get a draw... We could have lost 3 nil!
And for the whole match, I dont remember seeing James making saves...

The rotation backfire this time but a good result against Porto, then all is forgotten... :D

Latest odds:

Manure as BPL champs this summer
$2.00 >> $3.50 >> $3.60 >> $2.95

Chelsea as BPL champs this summer
$2.25 >> $2.50 >> $2.60 >> $3.00

Liverpool as BPL champs this summer
$6.00 >> $3.90 >> $3.50 >> $2.75 >> $2.60 >> $2.80

Arsenal as BPL champs this summer
$13.00 >> $7.00 >> $6.50 >> $6.20 >> $4.80

Reds are still the favourites ... although the odds just became slightly longer. :D

Personally, I dun think the rotation backfired ... we didn't lose, did we?
If you are arguing that we almost did & really should ... then I'd say it was the same case against Chelsea.

On the contrary, I think at this early stage of the season, 2 things were evident after this weekend:

1) Rafa knows his players well enough ... both Gerrard & Carragher were returning from injuries, one of whom was even deemed to need a pain-killing jab before his 2-game national service - 2 very different treatments: he played one for the whole game but rested the other until the last 20 minutes, in anticipation of a tough away game at Porto.

2) Rafa knows his own players better than you & I ... for the past weeks, I was constantly wondering why he could leave out Crouch & Benayoun for almost all matches until most recently, but when he finally played them, it was crystal clear for all to see that these players were not ready yet.
