I doubt its a good move. Not exactly a commonly traded currency in most if not all places there.

You may be one of the 'lucky' ones to get 'high' exchange rate if you are not

careful as the counterfeit RMB is still rampant in China. Other than that, if

you go to the bank to change, the rate given will be very low, maybe even

SGD$1:RMB$4.50? Be warned as we are not as 'trained' as the locals to

recognize fake RMB.

IMHO
the most faked note is the 100RMB one
they say... rub the deng xiao ping image on the 100 note, it must have texture

Advice ,
try to get small change using big notes at established places like 7,11 mac,KFC,etc where you are not in a rush

Be extra careful when you pay, give nearest amount
This is the best opportunity to return a fake after holding your real molah
but you have no choice with the hotel room deposit

cheers

Bro,,,,, If you change your Singapore dollars to renminbi with Deng Xiaoping, then I dare to say the renminbi is 100% definitely and absolutely fake. All RMB ¥1.00 to ¥100.00 denomination has the late Chairman Mao Zedong on the note. :D

Thanks for the timely reminders of the risks and fraud in China as we tend to forget when having fun:D:D

Another tip: :DTo spot fake and real ¥100 use tissue paper rub over Mao's collar the tissue paper will have redish pink stain on tissue means is real... Fake one u rub no redish pink stain...

Don't know how true, some MM told me the new 500 & 1000 note will have Deng Xiaoping instead of Mao.
