Not trying to be sarcastic, if it was 2000vnd, dun think it was your "tips" that made him happily work for u. Unlikely, someone will tip 2000vnd. It is more like lose change which u dun want. Luck was on your side, u met a good driver. For 2000vnd, no one will treat u like a king unless u tip 200k vnd.

I meant in general if u want to be treated like a king, u tip 200k instead of 2k...

Talking about tipping 200k VND, I have a friend who first time in HCMC, he tipped 500k and later then realised, he mistaken 500k to be 50k... too many 0s. :D

I normally will tips to 10K to 100K depends on their service. That time, there is 1 waitress where her service was good, my friend and I tip her 300K. Is it a must to tips in VN? The 1st time I went to VN 2004, my friend tips and I also follow them tips. Even those VB accompany me also ask me to tips.

Depends on individual customer whether to tip or not. Most of the time in Vietnam, my VND will pass to my ger to settle all bills. She will also tip 10-20k so it is like a norm to me. I learnt from the local.

MIFAcafe, 10-20K dong is not much as it seems to me like a culture to me. I will also buy those big sweep in vn if an old man or lady approach me. In disco, I even tips the manager and bouncers 100-200K. Cos when my friends high or drunk, they help me to take care of my friends out of trouble.

Agree. In each country, there are different duties imposed on items when the item is new. Even for Singapore, if you buy a LV Bag, it is new and if it still in a LV Carrier, you are liable to pay duties

tipping security is a must in my opinion, and have to tip them before you are drunk, many times i have to be "escorted" to the toilet in a drunken stupor.
also as to prevent any trouble that may arise, i.e. people not knock against ur table and cause all drinks to spill.
