I pay only 80k VND (before 12pm) for 2 hours full body massage...tips up to us...yes, masseur no salary...earned tips only...if they dun work still kena fine 500k per day...only 2 off days per month and worked around 12 hours per day...but in good months...can earn 10-15mil per month...but not recently as reported by bro MIFAcafe because no clients...now 200k tips very common...:)

tipping is about fairness and compensating people for their time spent esp if they dont earn a reg salary.
Shop girls and construction labourer work all day for 100k wage, so why should i tip a security guy 200k to stand there and walk me to toilet..50k more than enough, a girl who massage me work hard for 2hrs the 100k per hour is good, a girl who sit with me talking in cafe 20k is good, a waitress who serve me, peel prawn 50k is good, unlike stupid tram chim girls who expect 100-200k from clueless guys...why should i pay these types a wage equivalent to someone going to university, if they want to earn more then either do bj or go to university, and so you know what i think abt giving girls 500k for a hj..piano massage and a hj 150-200k is good

for me my tips as follow...dun need to follow me but here is my amount of tipping...:)

10-20k tips for waiter/waitress at cafe Trung Nguyen/Highland...
20k cafe gals (50k for regular cafe gals which treated as frens)
20-50k for hotel cleaner (depends on what you requests)
50k for hotel concierge/bell boy
10-20k for waiter/waitress at restaurants (dun tip if roadside or eateries)
100-200k for massage gal working in proper clean massage
300k for massage with Hj (few years never go liao)
50k for security at disco
100k for waiter serving table at disco
100-200k for manager at disco
200k for PR gals at clubs/disco
200-300k for local ktv/bia om (inlcude raba raba)
200-300k for mamasan/papasan
100k for bar tenders at pubs/lounges
taxi drivers keep the change - often less than 5k
no tips for LT/ST WLs/FLs - pay the agreed amount
no tips for bbbj joints - pay the counter the actual amount
no tips for cafe om - pay the counter the actual amount

Vietnam such a "tipping-centric" country!

Is this the case generally in Vietnam or only associated with "Night" activities?
Reason I ask is that when i was there - years ago and NOT on a mongering trip - I don't remember that there was this Tipping culture there.
Just wondering.

this list is only partially correct...its singy-biased, the only places you NEED to tip are the pr girls at disco, massage girls, the other people which h88 tip is based on familiarity, wanting to do a good deed,-look at it like impromptu charity or for good service next time..eg if dont tip mommy or tip her 50k nothing will happen just next time go there and u wont have any girls, plus she will give black face blah...as to h88 comments on fs,bbbj cafe om...gotta ask him when was the last time he went to one, either to get service or to take guys..and does he even know the current rates :)

so to SEAJ, vn isnt a tip centric country...just when u add a singy and the overwhelming poverty, plus the familiarity h88 has with his service people eg hotel staff then sure it seems like that...stingy guys like me dont tip like that

Why does it seem to me that Singaporeans, who I observe/IMHO are generally very level-headed and good at spending money sensibly whilst at home - SEEM to be such profligate spendthrift when out mongering in other countries? Much more so than people from other countries...maybe with the exception of Malaysians.

No offense meant at all and I do hope that nobody take offense, but I do see this in Chang Ping/Southern China and your comments makes me wonder if my home turf is not the only place where this happens.

absolutely correct on your observation...my countrymen are too kind and always over-tipped and spoil market rates...when out with frens in hcm, I have to rein them in with a leash...so that my friends pay exactly what I tell them to do...see my reason is simple...if my frens over-tipped or over-paid my playground then I have a problem with the pricing next time I visit same place with another group of frens...:p

those frens who over-tipped or over-paid I will leave them alone...no more next time...:p

Quite a 180* turn response on this thread versus the reception I got when I tried to bring it up at the Chang Ping/S. China threads.

But I guess on there, gang attacks and mass zapping were orchestrated by that Stealth Agent and his accomplices who stand to lose a lot of their extortionate kick-backs from KTV's etc if others read my postings and started to realize that you don't have to spend like a drunken sailor to enjoy yourself.

In fact, I postulate that most Mei Mei's actually laugh behind the backs of mongers they've managed to pull the wool over; I've sat in on plenty of discussions with these girls who are my friends when they regale each other with their own tales of how stupid some of these mongers are and most times they were quite nationality specific as to who are the easiest suckers.

I agree and disagree...yes singaporeans tend to spoil then market but look where markets where there is a large population of weekend cheongers then u will also see such attitudes, japanese in thailand, the koreans in AC, i dont think its really purely a singaporean phenomen, where you have a population of foreigners who earn alot more than locals and who are older fat old and ugly, then MONEY is the great equaliser, ist so much easier to pay extra than to spend months at the gym etc, im sure ango mo also OVERPAY, its just that they know they are foolish and so dont brag about it on a public forum..but get the inside story and you will see that stupidity knows no national borders. Then again maybe its not stupidty maybe its actually intelligence as you know how to use all your qualities and assets to it maximum effect. Maybe the guy who has miney but wants to attarct girls based on personality and looks is the idiot, as he isnt using his time wisely.

I went to HCMC last month with a VB whom I meet working in Sg.
She bring me to her working place which is those billiard Bar.
We sit at the lower level of the bar there and play pool together.
I saw some customer came in and went up to the 2nd level of the bar.
I look through the tread and seems not much bro keen on going to such bar.
I find the bar is quite relaxing and have VB to accompany you.
But how come many bros are not keen on going to this kind of place?
And What is the activity on the second level?

Welllll..... like I said, their chats and merriment are quite nationality specific, and trust me - no one single nationality escape their ridicule and scorn!

But perhaps Singaporean/Malaysians are discussed more as they usually speak Putonghua and are thus able to get into deeper "relationships" with these skilled courtesans.... and get promptly suckered in. LOL!

In Vietnam and other Indo-China countries, Singapore and Malaysians are I'd think more at par with mongers from other nations as I'd guess most foreigners no matter where from, generally use English as their main medium of communication.

Hmmmm.... perhaps not being able to speak the language can be an advantage! Just "Sorry, No understand" anytime things don't go according to script! Ha Ha!
