Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

the problem with liverpool in my opinion runs truely deep...

1.) their play is freaking defensive... at 1-0 down against manure, what should we do?!? i say get bellamy and crouch on together... play a 3 men attack... lose 1-0 or lose 10-0, still lose... but with 3 men in attack, higher chances to score... you don't win games defending... you win by scoring... morientes is a fine player... he scores everywhere... first at real, then monaco and look at him in valencia now... definitely proves our play has something seriously wrong...

2.) garcia is a freaking joke... he plays like he thinks he is the best playmaker in the world... doesn't help that rafa thinks he is the best playmaker in the world... $5 million quid... god... doesn't track back, rarely tackles... loves it whenever he lose the ball and gerrard screaming his head off at him... he makes even danny murphy looks like Zizou who left for a mere $2 million quid... based on the transfer fee, garcia is supposed to be 2.5 times better... up till now, all he is better at is losing the ball...

3.) too many mediocre players... zenden, pennant, aurelio, reina... why waste money on transfer fees and wages on so many fringe players and having a big squad of useless players?!? ultimately, it is only 11 players on the pitch... i'd rather have 11 fine players in the team with hungry youngsters to supplement than 265748 average players happy just picking up their wages...

4.) stop trying to buy cheap players... cheap stuff no good stuff... and once in a while cheap and good stuff comes along, liverpool misses it... paul robinson = $2.5 million quid... pek pek reina = $6 million quid!!! save all the loose change of $6 million, $5 million, $4 million every season on a few players... adds up to close to $20 million every season... rather we get 1 fine player every season... should have gotten joaquin 2 seasons ago when he was desperate to come... david villa or defoe last season when they wanted to come... sigh... these players play like the live for football... the kind of players we need and suitable for liverpool's history... makes me sad just thinking about all the possibilities...

5.) even the youth team needs a clear-out... the U-18 team just got stuffed 4-0 by man. city!!! no talent coming up... if the first team is not winning, how to attract fans and young players to the club?!? all the fine youngsters would be arse, manure or chelski supporters and wanna play for them instead...

6.) i say keep riise, carragher, gerrard, sissoko, kuyt, bellamy and crouch... the rest can all fark off... clear them out fast and buy new sets of players... except fowler... no matter how bad he plays, he stays... he is god...

then again, i don't have a Fifapro license to coach... nor am i at melwood watching the players train... so what do i know?!? :D

just a keen liverpool fan, observer and championship manager player...

YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE...

I agree with some of the points by Bro Adamking.

I wonder why Rafa get intimidated by the Big teams. I see LFC playing better when they are playing an attacking game rather than defensive.

Come on Rafa, be brave and you have the team to be the best in the world. Use it correctly.

This is so true.
Our reserve and youth team cannot make it now.
They have been beaten to a much so called, "lesser known team"

Seriously, I dun think we can find another wonderkid like gerrard, carragher, owen or fowler in the years to come.

is a very close third and almost 2nd good enough for you?!? this is liverpool we're talking about... 18 english titles and 5 european cups... we're not leeds utd(of old) nor some tottenham hotspur... seriously, if you don't end up as champions, whats the difference from being 2nd or 17th?!?we're still losers!!!

realistically speaking, every year, our target is that forth champions league spot... i wonder how long stevie g can take it...

again, no offence... i'm just speaking my mind... feeling a bit pms-y after all the horrid displays by the lads...

haha... actually, man city's U18 team were the champions last year... so they are not that bad... not really a "lesser known team" in that aspect... but, hell... club of liverpool's stature should be winning all the youth titles!!!

and true... no hot prospects at all in the youth team... thats why they are buying 20 or 21 yr olds like agger, dave martins, scott carson, paletta... getting all average youths from small clubs... sigh... :( the last person to break through from the academy and play a handful of games is stephen warnock... and he is really no wonderkid...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

sum calls by liverpool legends 2 benitez 2 stop tinkering ...

ronnie whelan:

Whelan says all the changing must be counter-productive.

He explained: "If you go back in history, you will find most successful clubs have had two centre-forwards with a great understanding who would score goals and feed off each other week in and week out.

"At Liverpool, you just have to think of Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish, and Kevin Keegan and John Toshack.

"Now it's Bellamy and Crouch in one game, Kuyt and Crouch in the next, then Kuyt and Luis Garcia or any number of other permutations.

"You cannot get an understanding going. It's the same for two central defenders or two full-backs who play together regularly. They know where they will be at any given time.

"But with the rotation system I don't think you can get that same understanding."

alan hansen:

Hansen is equally dismayed that his former team - the game's dominant force a couple of decades ago - seem to be stuck in the backwaters.

He complained: "Eleven points off the pace and with the big three slipping further away, it looks all over as early as October for Liverpool's pursuit of the Premiership.

"You see problems throughout the side and it is up to Rafa Benitez to sort them.

"The manager took the plaudits when Liverpool won the Champions League and the FA Cup and it is up to him to take decisive action when things are not going well.

"There is plenty for him to consider. His goalkeeper, Jose Reina, produced one world-class save from Louis Saha but recently he has made many errors of judgment.

"There are serious problems with the back four. The time to rotate players is generally when you are winning but the one area you should be wary of rotating is your defence.

"The game may have changed since I played but what is still true is that centre-backs do less running and more talking to each other than any other players.

"It is an absolutely crucial area that depends on understanding and reading your partner's game. As a manager, you would be looking to play the same back four 20 times on the trot, not split them up."

Hansen said Liverpool also had "glaring weaknesses" up front and relied too heavily on Gerrard for midfield spark.

He added: "If you want to consider yourself one of the country's top clubs you cannot continue to keep looking to a single player for inspiration."

mark lawrenson:

ELEVEN points behind the leaders, Liverpool can forget about winning the title. Instead, Rafael Benitez should now concentrate on getting back to basics to rescue his team's season.

It was such a disappointing performance at Manchester United. The players appeared devoid of ideas and a little bit characterless, which is alarming given the importance of the game.

Ask Liverpool supporters what they wanted from this season, the answer would be to win the league. So what's gone wrong?

I don't particularly think United were that much better on Sunday, but they certainly had more about them and actually looked like they knew what they were doing.

That's the problem for Liverpool at the moment. With all the changes Benitez makes to the starting line-up and the influx of new arrivals, it's been impossible for the players to build up an understanding of each other's game.

Players like the ability to know what their colleagues are going to do when things start going against them. There's nothing better. But Benitez's rotation policy is making that impossible.

If only to build some confidence and cohesion, Benitez should play his best team and stick to it for a while. Forget about different systems and formations. Keep the spine of the team the same, the shape the same, the defence the same.

If you pick your best team virtually every single week and it then doesn't work over a period of time, then you know it's not going to work.

Right now, Liverpool don't know what will and won't work.

But does Benitez know what his best team is? With all this chopping and changing, I doubt it.

actually, hv been wondering abt dis 4 sum time ...

y r liverpool still nt playing s well s valencia wen benitez was in charge there?

me watched ze champions league match between houllier's liverpool n benitez's valencia n was very impressed by ze way valencia played ... dey were so organised n looked so impregnable ... btw, liverpool lost 0-1 in dat game... (btw oso, me bought valencia 2 win in dat match ... )

benitez brought valencia 2 b ze champions of spl in his 1st yr in charge ... he could nt do it wif liverpool in 2 yrs ... n looks unlikely in dis 3rd yr ...

benitez practised ze rotation policy @ valencia n it worked ... y couldn't it work @ liverpool?

if benitez can motivate valencia players 2 win both ze spl and uefa cup, y can't he do dat wif liverpool players?

me dun think ze valencia players den were betta than liverpool's current players either ...

Don't think it's about coaching in one's homeland or not. Fergie is Scots,Wenger is French & Mourinho is Portugese. Judging from past achievements,Rafa's ability is at least on par with theirs,if not better.
Somethings are very wrong with our back four & goalkeeper at the moment,
Rafa has to fix them before they go out of hand.

Betta also no use. Can try putting Henry, Ronaldinho, Messi, Shevchenko, Cannavaro, Buffon, Makelele, and all other stars in Liverpool, they will still be inconsistent. It's mentality in the whole Liverpool Dressing Room that sucks.

Players who go there simply do not have passion to play for titleship. Maybe occasionally some cups, but thats about it.

Rafa keeps rotating at wrong time. But he does not deserved to be sacked. The players are the ones who are not performing consistently.

Lighten up fellow Reds

Actually, in my opinion I think 11 points is not impossible to overcome. We can overtake the other big three teams. We just only played 9 games.

True we're experiencing some bad times right now. I admit we're on a bad form and we are seem to be in troubles but every team got their bad times as well.

I believe Rafa can be sorted things out.

Think of this as our half-time in the CL Cup Final 2005, we are down but we are not out......yet. Just our anthem say,
At the end of the storm, is the golden sky

Who knows come end of May, we screaming top of our lung cos we won our 19 league titles.

I am FURIOUS.....

Our loss to Man U, is the way the players seemed resigned to defeat and the general lack of belief that they could get back in it.

I can understand your reasons for calling for Rafa's head after our loss to Man U. However I still have confident with Rafa because he has two titles (Spain) in his pocket, and has brought Liverpool to winning the Champions league. His record speaks for itself

I have absolute faith in our manager.

In Rafa, we trust.
