Not very convincing win over the Toffees but a win is a win,now there is a 5 pts gap between Liverpool & Everton.

Liverpool will at least have some momentum going to the Emirates Stadium & take on the Gunners.

You Never Walk Alone....

The way they palyed in the 2nd half I think they are saving themslves for the Arsenal game. Lets hope they can also beat Arsenal.

i felt we did enough to win the game n yes we seem to take it easy against them in the 2nd half, another goal wld have been gd.there is a championship winning team in them somewhere.8 wins in the last 9 matches.if only we had won 5 of 11 drawn we wld be fighting for the premiership.

Totally agreed wif u.
Although the Gunners will have Van Persie back, they will be drained after their fight back win over Bolton.
They will be really worried by our form barring the man u game.

You Never Walk Alone...

That i feel, is absolutely spot-on!

Rafa, the great tactician was again at work... we basically absorbed them in the second half, and had 2 good high-ball specialists (Skrtel & Sami) heading away all their balls, thus isolating the increasingly-frustrated yakubu...

Loved the way Kuyt was closing down on their goalie & 2 defenders, even in the 92nd minute! :D

From Liverpoolfc.tv: Official Web Site, excerpts from an exclusive interview with The Times, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague talks tactics, transfers and Torres with Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

Why does your Liverpool side not yet look like your old Valencia side?

The team that I left at Valencia had had great success and were a strong unit. That side knew what they had to do and destroyed opponents. I think that this Liverpool team has had moments where they've played at a similar level, but logically everything takes time.

When I arrived at Valencia I found a squad that was already quite dangerous, solid and well put together by Héctor Cúper. When we arrived at Liverpool we found a team that was low in confidence and hadn't had a winning record. We had to rebuild. None of the players that left us are playing at a club that are of a higher standard than Liverpool.

The players in the reserve team are 17, 18 years old, so they'll need two, three years to reach the right level and the first team. We are close to making three signings, one for the first team.

We have an agreement with some player who can walk into our first 11. WOW, gets me excited on who it may be. Joaquim please... He will be like a John Barnes on the right wing. Torres's success in his first season will help us get the best players from La Liga.

On a more current note, I think Arsenal is ripe for our taking. Their talented but thin squad is hampered by injuries and suspension. I think by the 2nd or 3rd game, our ability to bring about fresher legs will make a lot of difference. I can see Pennant, who has been underutilised these days, relishing a run at the tiring Arsenal defence.

Yeap, Evershite had lots of possession in the 2nd half but not many chances from open play. I remember a header from a free kick that went wide, that's about it.

MOTM Skrtel: power, pace and passion. Now got to work on his positioning. ;)

Interesting interview with Rafa on the official site.
GUILLEM BALAGUE MEETS RAFA BENITEZ

Nice to see him tackle some lies - such as the Torres rotation and the myth of Wenger. ;)

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

From Soccernet:

Bentley is in talks with Blackburn over a new contract and although Rovers manager Mark Hughes said the club are 'trying to offer him more money', it is European football the midfielder craves.

Blackburn are still in the hunt for a UEFA Cup spot - but Bentley has been linked with a move to Liverpool and he is keen to play at the highest level in order to make the England jersey his own in time for the 2010 World Cup.

'It's a big decision in my life at the minute. I want to play European football, I want to play at the top of my game,' he said.

'I want to go to the World Cup in two years and I want to be starting - so sometimes you have to make strong decisions, we'll have to see what happens.

'Time will tell over the next few months what will happen. I'm speaking to Blackburn at the minute but you never know in football what's going to happen.'

Asked if Blackburn missing out on Europe would precipitate a move away from Ewood Park, Bentley added: 'I won't answer that. I'll leave it up to you to decide.'

Bentley must force his way ahead of David Beckham, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Aaron Lennon if he is to become a regular on England's right flank.

'I'm in the early stages of my England career. I'm going to have to work hard, it's up to me to take the position. There's a lot of good players in this country,' said Bentley.

'But if I perform then I believe I can take it, so we'll have to see.'

Do you guys think this is the player Rafa said can walk straight into our 1st eleven? We need a good right winger and I do think Bentley is class. His temperament is suspect though and he's prone to making controversial statements. If contractual talks fail, Blackburn may wish to cash in on Bentley and sell him. I doubt he will cost more than $10 million pounds.

Will love to see Steward Downing with us too. Joaquim please....

We already have a couple of gd right wingers. Maybe what we need now is 1 more good striker and a good goalkeeper.
