Well i do think that price is roughly the guide if you do not know nuts and no seniors are willing to bring you around and fall prey to those fellows out to fleece you , if cannot afford , then please stay in SG and wank your way home.

Wanna go travel wanna play just pay , want cheap don't wanna pay for seniors , don't go out . This probably applies to everywhere you go , no limited to merely HCMC. Just think who will wanna entertain some unknown fellow from SG without any contact number neither a face to relate to and brings the newbie around places spoiling his own market?

Bro iSaigon, I don't know where u got the impression that I don't want pay or want cheap. Basically I guess it is ur own imaginative. I never ask anyone to entertain and I don't need too. I can find my own way there. I am just asking for some opinion. For $600 dollar I guess I would rater go to other places like China who is my opinion. Think u smart? Good luck than...

dude this is the point he is making...if u think u can find your way around...which a guarantee you wont, then what u find on your own, then you will be paying those prices mention, and for someone who has NEVER been to vietnam, you certainly are sure about what can be done here and what the price should be. If u want gals that are 10 to fuck then surely they will be more expenise to fuck than girls that are 5. The fact is in some people mind 600 a days is reasonable if they want top quality and so when u say 600 isnt worth it, then yes whether its right or not, there is a case to call u cheap. The next point is whilst u didnt want anyone to entertain u..you are comming here asking for advice, so wouldnt it be smart to swallow some humble pie and be a little less annoying...and yes if you rather go to china..please do so, given what i have seen and heard about china cheongsters, i prefer they didnt come here.
Finally if you are teh "smart" one, you would have read jerkface reoprt where he included price for food and cheong in his report.

no one seems to point it out for u, d12 is very far outside of the city away from most cheong choices in the otehr districts, yes i know some cheong options in d12, mostly cafe with hj/bj and massage, but these places are very far from each other asnd in what would be in locations that could be viewed as villages, unless u know ur way around and have a bike and know vietnamese you will be overwhelmed

i call bullshit u use 100k a dayhs, ur hotel is already 2-300k, when u go coffee at mifa it costs u min 50k include gal tips, ur xe om driver..min 50k again, local priice per meal 16-25k...so unless u live under tarp and only go cafe and have 2 meals a day...id like u to breakdown ur 100k..xao wa vua phai thoi ong
And to put it in perspective I AM CHEAP...i live here and inclusive of EVERYTHING i use 6-8mill a month

$600 which includes meals,transport,2 disco trips,and a gal for overnite..i feel its quite reasonable unless the 2 disco trip is just a few pints of beer and not bott of liquor.

if i am not wrong,u mention abt wanting to go discos here..

although i am just a bit familiar with the disco scene here,i give u some advice on the prices.

a bott of normal liquor e.g Martell,Hennessy,Chivas etc will cost u abt 2 mills Vnd unless u getting their 1+1 or 2+1 offer.a can of mixer is about 80k-90k Vnd.a plate of fruit platter is about 200k-300k.Shisha is 300k-400k.all the price is before 10% service charge and 10% government charge.so from here u can do ur own calculation.

I did not say isn't worth it. If u put in 10 than it is another ball game all together. However, from what I read from the last few post, it is really high side base on my opinion.

Anyway, I asking for opinion not here to make enemy. Please ignore my post If u think what I say doesn't sound nice. The word also doesn't sound nice to a newbie like me too.

As mentioned, it is difficult to say what is enough for a day... it depends a lot on individual... btw it is crazy to ask an open ended question like this.... u will definitely have various answers and arguments. :D

Haha, it is not with "D12" but the fact that he is alone in none popular tourist areas. Personally for me, anything within the river and won't take more than an hour is walkable but when you have to cross the bridge, take xe om/ cab sua... :o

Bro , I think S$600 is more than enough for the whole trip exclude airfare. Stay in a small hotel which can accommodate 3 pples , same room rental. Everyday buy roti fm roadside stall cost 30k for 2, 2 meal 60k. Drink plain big bottle water cost 12k, each day 3 bottles. Drink beer buy fm street vendor very cheap, dun know how much for I dun drink beer. For bonking, going down stairs wait outside hotel for packer Ang Mo maybe can even get free bonk (share bed with Ang Mo). So very cheap, so dun tell me cannot be done OK. I just came fm there. Bro H88, Bro Jerkface and urself can witness my present there. Can be done , only want or not !!!!

yes...100k per day is impossible...i need to pay hotel and my transport and food...but maddog is right...sgd 600 is definitely enough for me for 5d4n...:)

He can do it, fm Sg, army trained. Can bring along army issue combat ration, viet roti also dun hv to buy. I like found Bro Mutant Chicken lunch and dinner abit high, so I on the way to and back hotel eat roadside roti to cut budget on food spent. Can check with Bro Wolalaeh, to save cost I dun take breakfast

Better to treat seniors well (i.e. pay for their meals, etc.) than to treat WLs well (i.e. overpay ST or LT) because the latter will only laugh at us.

If we treat seniors well, we at least make good friends and business contacts.

What do we get from WLs? Sometimes not even a sincere "thank you".

Q12 aint so bad, although you'll be primarily in an industrial area and quite sparse of any noticeable entertainment or diversions.

Click on the map above. Locate the airport. Immediately north of the airport is Q Go Vap. Going further north, a bridge away across the Vam Thuat river is Q12.

You will not likely find any fun places in Q12 but rather in Q Go Vap which is quite working class and diverse with Vietnamese from other parts of Vietnam who have come to HCMC to work. Naturally the working class have their own places to cheong, which are at working class prices. For example, Nguyen Thai Son and Nguyen Oanh Streets in Q Go Vap are full of 'quan nhau' (local places to eat, drink and get wasted!). And as typical with the average working class Vietnamese, after you get wasted at a quan nhau, you head to a dodgy hotel 'xong hoi xoa bop' (sauna) for a rub and a tug before you head home!

Note also that National Highway 1 (QL1, or Quoc Lo 1) leading all the way to Hanoi, runs through Q12. I would guess that there might be the odd place for truckers (they need to have fun too!) along the highway, but I don't suggest that you go around looking for these in a taxi, but rather try and find a friendly local to show you a place or two.

Your other alternative would be to head to Thu Dau Mot City, in the adjacent province of Binh Duong, where a KTV quite popular with some on this forum, is located. But that's a different story altogether. ;)

So to summarize, I advise finding a friendly local to explore Q Go Vap, while staying in Q12. It would be nice to see a FR on outlying districts for a change. Maybe you might even find something in Q12 - you never know! If not, it'd be approx. VND 300-350k (around SGD20) for a cab to Q1, each way.

as though you expect a newbies to speak tieng viet and the gals in Go Vap to speak foreign languages such as mandarin and english...i will applaud the effort if we can read a story....:)

dont be surprise if u find gals in Go Vap that can speak English...there are lots of language schools over there..:D

there are more people that can speak English nowadays,but of cos the percentage is still lower if compared to District 1 with other districts.

How to find a friendly local who can speak English, have the time to bring him around? Go kopi tiam? "anh oi, u speak English? Can u bring me around n look for girls boom boom?" :confused: Go Viet forum to look for Viet friends or Xe om but xe om seldom speak English.... "anh oi, boom boom where where?"

Will a friendly local be so free and kind to bring a stranger around to get laid?? :confused: If easy, I dun mind exploring other ulu district n I speak baby Viet.

Frankly, anyone approaches me n ask me to bring him around to get laid, I will say I am not free and walk away.... I am unfriendly n inside me, "siao tao nua pai, a stranger n expect me bring him around."

Just stick to tourist area n enjoy the entertainment, no need to be so adventurous and yet headache so much. The only draw back is u pay extra cash.

When I was in Hanoi, initially I also cheong tourist area but later got to know more friends who had been in Hanoi long, then started to go local places...

It could be a 'friendly' bell boy, it could be a 'friendly' xe om or taxi driver... I am sure you know just as well as anyone here that anything is possible in Vietnam. Besides, if he has a reason to be staying in Q12 then I suspect there would be more possibilities for him than meets the eye...
