With Crouchy going soon and the Barry saga coming the end,
who else will we see coming to Liverpool??

Have not seen any players link to us..
Any bros here care to share more news?
Sadly, no matter how many players are linked with us, I doubt we have the financial backing to make any major moves this season. The likes of villa, silva, joaquin, keane and downing have been rumoured to be targets but can we afford any of them? I think Rafa has done all he can so far. He has limited funds and have to sell before he buys. He probably has to offload either Carson, Pennant, Voronin, or Benayoun before he can even spend again. It'll be great if he can sell all 4 for Villa. Besides, with Kewell gone, the number 7 jersery is available and waiting for Villa.

Does anyone know whether Mancini from Roma has been sold? Thought Liverpool was looking at him at one point last season? Perhaps he is a cheaper alternative to Bentley or Silva?

Crouch is gone, eat more, stay fitter, for in the air u wont lose out. He is not afraid of getting into the air and receiving the physical abuse all thats left is his built.

Built matters bro. How many times have u seen a physically thin being edged out? Then again, its my personal views. :)

With 10m (1m more) from Crouch. We might just be able to get Villa? ;)

We need no big names players like Ronaldinho (Hey i admire him alot too), Kaka.
We are too packed in midfield. Our benchwarmers alreadi has...... the quality..... Lets work on the jigsaw puzzle which is not properly fixed; Left winger.

VERY sad over Finnan..... A HUGE loss I must say. I watched him even before he is not with Liverpool, even when he got into a car accident with an elderly that I know. haha.... He is q.u.a.l.i.t.y. despite his age. He still can run and boy he still has the stamina.

Perhaps with introducing the idea of "Come and get my Scott Carson, I have bought a new goalie" we might have sufficient fund for Villa? Stay tune!

1) Bro AXL stressed on a Gerrard-Barry midfield combo. Thats needs standin ovulation.
2) David Villa, Torres Combo.
EVEN to the extend, out of the field;
3) H&G combo!

Thats a combo meal that cost over 50million. ^^
So much Drama. What is next?

Juve Pull Out Of Alonso Deal
Juventus have reportedly pulled the plug on their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, a decision which could have vast repercussions for both clubs’ transfer plans…

It is believed the Reds are now refusing to budge from their original ₤16million asking price, a figure the Old Lady simply will not – or cannot – meet.

But the situation at Anfield is even more interesting, as Alonso’s non-departure could effectively scupper Rafa Benitez’s hopes of landing Aston Villa wantaway Gareth Barry.

Babel has returned from an ankle injury faster than expected and is now in contention for a place in Holland's Olympic squad for the Games in August.Manager Rafa Benitez has warned Liverpool's Dutch winger Ryan Babel that playing in the Beijing Olympics could wreck his first-team prospects.

Lucky for us:
Spurs, Liverpool target Olic commits to Hamburg
tribalfooball.com - July 09, 2008

Premiership target Ivica Olic has committed himself to Hamburg.

Tottenham and Liverpool were eyeing the Croatia international during Euro2008, but he told the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper: "I cannot be bothered to move again.

"I am staying in Hamburg."

Rafa Still Chasing Silva
Liverpool are ready to step up their interest in Valencia winger David Silva, according to reports…
The Sun claims that the Merseyside giants are aiming to tie up a deal for around ₤16million as they seek to increase their flair options this summer.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez announced yesterday that he is keeping a very close eye on David Villa, the Valencia striker who scored four-goals at EURO 2008 last month to help Spain to their first major title in over four decades.

Cheers.

I have always feel Xabi is a good player for us, his style, his range passing is good. If he is not moving, and we get Barry, then we will have more then enough central mids, a situation a north london were in last season (believe currently still in). well, will just monitor the transfer news and see how it goes.

wow, if both comes over, then it will certainly booast our attacking strength, but then again, we might need to change the formation to play with 2 striker? Villa and Torres...and SG might have to go back to central or on the right, assuming Rafa plays with 2 defensive mids.

Well, we can adopt a modified version of the Euro 2008 Spainish formation I suppose.

GK: Reina
RB: Degen (Arbeloa)
CB: Carra and Agger (Skrtel)
LB: Dossena (Aurelio)
DM: Masch Alonso (interchangable with Lucas)
LM: Silva (Babel, Benayoun)
AM: Gerrard
ST: Villa and Torres

Mascherano to operate as defensive screen with Xabi playing the Xavi role of spraying passes from midfield.

Both Gerrard and the designated left midfielder would probably operate as supporting strikers so the formation becomes a 4-2-4 during attacks. Gerrard will probably be given the freedom to roam all over shop as he wishes.

If reports are to be true, then both full backs can provide width especially since Degen is supposedly an attacking fullback. During such times, Marscherano will be left to provide cover defensively. Similarly, when Gerrard drops back (which he does often enough), the midfield is adequately covered again.

then just let Villa and Torres rip through the opponents defence and score a gazillion goals!

Come on! :)

i believe villa is a red herring, the real target is barry. maybe benitez wan o'neill to think that he's not interested anymore, and since o'neill's relationship with barry already down the drain, he may have to lower the asking price ? just my tots lah..

just read in football365, villa will cost 32m in pounds, and thus we wont be able to afford him......but probably silva is the target, at 15mil punds, again rumour from football365.

and of course alot of clubs wanted villa, he is a goal scorer, at least in the spanish league.

certainly hope we can get barry, but not at the price or the way mom is pricing his player and finnan. anyway agreed with you on the last part, barry's r/s with mom is reported to be so bad.....well just have to wait and see wat happen this coming weekend.

I guess with lucas maturing (I hope) rafa might see alonso as being the extra guy, and also alonso was not playing as much towards the end of last season, not sure is it due to tactical reason or rafa feels lucas is doing a better job together with mach behind SG.
guess it was a good time to blood lucas and give him more playing time as pool had already sewn up 4th place by then. but lucas is still a work in progress...

bro, very dangerous of liverpool to be playing such a formation... actually, very prone to counter attacks... just my 2 cents...

yes, anyone who starts bidding for villa will start a bidding frenzy!!! sportscenter reported last nite that pool is in the process of making an official bid for villa after confirming crouch is leaving for portsmouth...

athletico madrid just bid for rafael van der vaart for 15 mil euros... he might be a good option!

Bro, Rafa has just said Villa is very unlikely, but he is more interested in Keane at the moment. ;)

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Benitez has been extremely busy in the transfer market, wheeling and dealing to bring in Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena, while contact has been confirmed for Gareth Barry and Robbie Keane.

Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri will arrive for £3 million, Benitez confirmed on Thursday, before all attentions are turned to the top end of the pitch.

Having admitted that Keane is a target but David Villa is not, the Liverpool boss guaranteed Reds fans that a new striker will arrive at Anfield before the start of the new season.

"Everyone knows what our ideas are and what players we want. We are working hard with different names now, and at the moment that is not (David) Villa,” Benitez confirmed.

"We will have another main striker before the season starts, maybe two.

"The fans must trust us, we are working hard during the summer with a lot of people in different countries working for us.

"We have a new keeper. And we are looking for a lot of players for the right price.”

Looking for a lot of players ......think can rule out Villa at the moment, hope to see at least one decent wide player come in.

yes, and lucas have now also played for brazil senior team, if I did not read wrongly on the reports, in the match against argies in jun. so now we have quality central mid that are young, both lucas and mascherano still in their early 20s,

guess his stronger point is he is more of a traditional def mid? and he together with mascherano, will offer SG more freedom then lets say masch and alonso?

i m not surprised... villa will be too expensive. realistically, unless DIC comes back into the picture, there is no way the 2 broke americans will pump in much funds for transfer. keane might be a more solid option, tested and proven in the league.

good... but as my good bro, castrol will point out, history will always repeat itself.

mascherano is integral to the team... damn, he is young as well. lucas on the other hand, needs to learn much more. he still cant read other players well, but the spirit is willing though... time is needed for him to mature.

not only that, but a natural left legged player will give more balance to the team, not to mention that his passing (even the defence splitting ones) made me sit up during the england games. i suspect he will have similar effects as torres, moving from a mediocre team to a good one, suddenly he will find himself playing very well easily.

Quote:

dont think so, not enough $$$ for villa. but i can see how keane can fit in but doesnt villa like to play as the lone striker as well??? so i cant see villa fitting in actually.

Quote:

with real madrid making a 20mil euros bid in response to athletico madrid bid, it seems that liverpool might have a better chance in asking real whether arjen robben is surplus to requirements then...
