Yes, I got a free sim card from True when landing at Phuket airport and read the pamphlet accompanying which states free unlimited data usage with the following top ups:

thb 49 - 160mb speed for one day, 37 phone credit),
thb 249 - 1 gb speed for 7 days (33 phone credit),
thb 399 -1 gb speed for 30 days, 73 phone credit
Thb 599 - 2 gb speed for 30 days etc etc

BUT, the gal at the 7-11 misunderstood and just topped me thb 150, and instead now I somehow got 30 days free unlimited data plus thb 100 phone credit!! LOL!! Don't ask me how come - I don't know why, but that is what I now have!

I solved all these SIM card problems while in LOS. :p

Whenever I drop by BKK nowadays an associate will pass me one of her local SIM cards which I use during my stay and then I return it back to her when I am leaving the country. :D

Your post is so interesting so I just did a test. I asked the girls outside if any would lend me a spare simcard. While none is an 'associate' ..none hesitated to lend me 20 or 100 baht if I ever asked before.

Well they answer was a firm No..they looked at me as if I was crazy and told me to walk to the nearest 7-11. I guess nobody would associate w me in that manner !:(

Which reminds of my reverse loan of Philippine sim + beat up chiong phone from a crony, in 1 of my work trips. Wah, interesting sms conversations (to/fro). Another bloke had also borrowed same for his foray into AC. 1 great howler of his response to her KC sms on why no repeat trip with usual crap on missing him etc. Excuse of reply, he was volunteering for an animal shelter!

Tats why I use the SIM cards supplied by my associates instead of my tiraks :D
Associates need my business contacts so have to take care of me while tiraks use their numerous SIM cards to cultivate money sources.

I'd think it was not wise to do that.
I work for SIA as a flight steward and we were given SIM cards to use at our destinations courtesy of SIA until one day I was paired with another colleague who was ex-CID. She told me that the cops do keep tabs on the SIM cards and monitoring the calls and sms. Since that day onwards I have always use my own SIM card.
I'd rather waste some money having my own SIM card than to have my privacy compromised. :)

Okok...my fault then..cos I must have totally misread your original post.. You used the word 'associate' with the words..'her'..and then..the words..'return when leaving the country'. Its only natural that its read as ...associate=tirak=Thai gf. Since now you clarified its not so that clears a lot !:)
