we are playing on borrow time.
another lousy performance, just cun break through.
look like we are going to have a quite serious problem - scoring goal, this season.

it will be disastrous,if we are out,not to say the cash that will be lose but also will be the laughing stock here.

but we managed to pull through again, thanks to Kuyt.
he scored in the 118 minutes of extra time.

ya man, close call, with only 2 minutes of extra time remaining before penalty kicks.......phews.....certainly hope to see kuyt playing upfront with torres more often and see him scoring more goals, he is working tirelessly for the team, but dun think right side mid is his best position.

well hopefully this sun we will play better away to villa, we won last season there with a last minute free kick by SG, and bad news is, SG is having an opertaion on his groin, and will have to miss tat game, hopefully he will be back for the manure game though.

GERRARD INJURY BLOW FOR REDS

http://i35.tinypic.com/n16s8p.jpg

Liverpool's progress to the Champions League group stage has come at a cost after Rafael Benitez revealed that Steven Gerrard will undergo a groin operation on Thursday.

The Reds boss admitted it was a blow to lose his skipper but is hopeful he will make a speedy recovery after he played the full 120 minutes of Liverpool's extra-time win at home to Standard Liege.

"I'm disappointed because Gerrard will have an operation tomorrow," he said.

"He has a groin problem. We knew it could be like this and I was surprised when I was reading some of the newspapers saying he has to play and has to start. Now he will have an operation and will be out for 10-15 days.
(alamak , cannot see him play against Villa this week  good freekick last year ;) )

"It isn't too long but he needs to have it because he has been having pain with it. When he went with the national team we knew he had a problem and in the first-leg too.

"I was talking with the doctor yesterday and today we talked with him (Gerrard). He said he would play with pain and after it he would have an operation.

"He knew he had to keep going tonight and did so because he knew he was having it tomorrow."

THE TEAMS WE CAN FACE IN EURO DRAW
Paul Eaton 28 August 2008
Following last night's late Anfield victory Liverpool will today discover their opponents in the group stages of this season's Champions League.
The Reds are among the eight first seeds for the competition, meaning they won't be drawn in the same group as Barcelona, Inter Milan, Lyon or Real Madrid.

They will be paired with one side from each of pots two, three and four when the draw takes place in Monaco's Grimaldi Forum from 5pm UK time this evening.

Making their debut in the group stage are UEFA Cup holders FC Zenit St. Petersburg, CFR 1907 Cluj of Romania, the first Belarussian qualifiers, FC BATE Borisov, and Cypriot entrants Anorthosis Famagusta FC.

This is how the 32 teams have been divided for the draw:

Pot 1

Manchester United FC (ENG, holders)
Chelsea FC (ENG)
Liverpool FC (ENG)
FC Barcelona (ESP)
Arsenal FC (ENG)
Olympique Lyonnais (FRA)
FC Internazionale Milano (ITA)
Real Madrid CF (ESP)

Pot 2

FC Bayern München (GER)
PSV Eindhoven (NED)
Villarreal CF (ESP)
AS Roma (ITA)
FC Porto (POR)
Werder Bremen (GER)
Sporting Clube de Portugal (POR)
Juventus (ITA)

Pot 3

Olympique de Marseille (FRA)
FC Zenit St. Petersburg (RUS)
FC Steaua BucureÅŸti (ROU)
Panathinaikos FC (GRE)
FC Girondins de Bordeaux (FRA)
Celtic FC (SCO)
FC Basel 1893 (SUI)
Fenerbahçe SK (TUR)

Pot 4

FC Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR)
ACF Fiorentina (ITA)
Club Atlético de Madrid (ESP)
FC Dynamo Kyiv (UKR)
CFR 1907 Cluj (ROU)
Aalborg BK (DEN)
Anorthosis Famagusta FC (CYP)
FC BATE Borisov (BLR)

Things look good for our group matches. Those in the pot 3 and 4 don't look too difficult. A. Madrid will be very emotional for Torres. Shortest travelling journey too. CYP is Cryprus is it? Pot 2, hmm, Bayern Munich will be the trickiest. Juve is a shadow from the past. We have always had no issues with PSV. It will be great to beat Porto to revenge our loss from 2 years back. Roma... Riise and Momo reunion? Riise mentioned he didn't get a chance to say goodbye to The Kop.

What do you guys think?

Hi, please re-read my post. I said he may solve our RIGHT wing problem. Anway, he's back at Man City. The match against A.Madrid will be interesting. They will be welcoming back Torres. Ironic cos Torres left them for Champions League football. Sinama Pogolle is also in the A Madrid team. He's one of our stars in the 2005 Champions League run. I think we got a good draw. Don't have to fly to eastern europe for matches..

Espanyol accept Riera bid

Liverpool are poised to complete the signing of Albert Riera from Espanyol after the Spanish wide midfielder flew to England for a medical.

Terms of the deal have been agreed between the clubs and 26-year-old Riera must only prove his fitness to seal his move to Anfield.

The fee involved is thought to be around £8million, with Riera set to return to the Premier League having previously had a loan spell with Manchester City in the 2005-06 season.

Lastest Rumors from Anfield

With Gerrard undergoing a groin operation and will probably be out for 6 weeks . There was a rumor about buying Gareth Barry on the final day of transfers.
Not sure whether it is true or not.
