well, i had been scratching too much chairman mao hairs lately in due to counterfeit notes. :rolleyes:

though there r fake 10/20/50 notes circulating ... the main focus is on the 100rmb ... thus u have to be more careful ...

another area i find out how to tell counterfeit notes is to rub ur fingers on the front and back top left hand side of the 100rmb ... (black circles)

the counterfeit one have a smooth finish ...
u can feel "embroidery" text on the authentic ones ...

I am glad to hear that.Is it because of counterfeit rmb,that is why the online vs actual rmb xchg different?. Anyway my trip is near,Hope to get a better rates.

totally agreed ... we cannot be complacent abt the counterfeit notes ...
a LHL stall meimei show me a crumpy dirty 100rmb and she could have passed it off to unsuspected victims ...
so it's adviseable to carefully check all notes especially 100rmb ....

if u have ur rmb change in SG ... carefully check the authencity of the 100rmb notes on the spot ...
there's very slim chance someone in china will give u change in 100rmb cos that's is their biggest denomination ...

as long as u do not have any exchange in 100rmb notes in china, u r very safe ...
thus my advise is to bring enough rmb to china ...

i have not much faith in their bank atm's ...
best to avoid it unless u have no choice ...
withdraw 1000rmb at a time ... this way, u can check the notes carefully ..
