i got the rate of 15,809 at HCMC airport (the one on your left side when clearing custom, the rate is better then the row of money changer directly outside)

for taxi, when I exit the airport, I turn left to the taxi stand and will only take vinasun or meilinh taxi. my taxi fare to my hotel is less then 100k.

Thanks for the note. That's general knowledge. I have been studying the use of FB by vietnamese for some time and they have made it into an art and I was wondering when FB themselves will catch on to it. They use it to sell cosmetics, cream and all kinds of products and they manage to get 1,000+ friends within weeks by using "sexy pics of themselves".

Unfortunately there are fools who think I ripped off photos of real ppl frm FB. Anyway its too long to explain...and I am still studying the trend. In VN things are just different (& more interesting) than anywhere else, with regards to copyright, social media etc.

A&Em Dong Du has a safe box and I can put in my MacBook 11" inside too. Nice hotel around USD 30/nite. Very near to Sheraton Hotel, Malaysian restaurant and a Loring 9 Geylang Frog porridge beside it. Nearby Japanese district and will convenience those who don't quite like local food.

Please anyone...correct me if i am wrong...It is a fact that there is a law forbidding vietnam women staying overnight in a hotel room with another man without a marriage certificate.
some hotels seem to be able to bend this rule....2 stars and 3 stars but not all.
Now so far..it seems to me...its all vague...read some reports..guys checking with hotel beforehand...and they say yes buy when bring girls there..still have to pay..
now as a newbie...lets say i did my work...ask the experienced chiongsters here...they said can..but when i go there...hotel says no...u cant...
Can i blame the senior chiongster for giving me false information?? no...that would be unfair..Rules may have changed...he could speak the language...
As a newbie...i would pay...yes...but not "gladly". Its more like...ok....next time....wont stay here.
And since experienced hcmc chiongsters like u know the place well ....speak the language anyways...how is this gonna affect u?
u guys know where to get cheap fucks...know the local scene....and dont wish to share...as u are afraid that newbies or tourists will spoil the market...fair enough..

Btw can anyone tell me the Vietnamese fascination with frog leg porridge? Almost all the VN who comes to SG asks about eating this dish. I usually bring them to the one near Chinatown.

Erm actually I dare not take the honour of "experienced hcmc chiongsters". That honour should go to professionals like MC who tests the merchandise for a living. For me, I just fly in for work, take some time off to study the culture and disturb the ladies... improve my vietnamese (i am just at basic level) etc. Apologies if i make it sound like newbies are "dumbass" but the fact is... they do impact the local scene and change it, usually for the worse.

I can't advise others what they should do when asked to pay extras for their gf. For me, I would threaten to move to another hotel (unless its super peak season like China golden weeks...hehe). :p
I stand corrected then. I think its only VBs who come as tourists ask to eat this as it's widely promoted in their travel guide as the "must-eat" thing in SG. For others who dont come in as tourists... they probably never heard abt it. I don't eat it myself... can't stand all the blood. :eek:

I have eaten them separately in vn a few times though.
But cannot get used to the way they grill it with the skin on and u eat it.
But in hcm I did try one place they cooked it with curry.(not the wet kind but the dry version) Tasted awesome.

My tieng viet is beginner level. Just to amuse people only :)
The challenge about going solo is no one to share fixed costs.
Hence often have to rely on solo missions.
That's where it becomes risky sometimes. But just take a gut feel and go along with it.

We chat can be a starting point but never the mainstay.
Overpriced and a lot of fakes like so many seniors here say.

BTW I should be going again real soon.
