I feel that Arbeloa should be replaced anyway. He is not really up to liverpool's standard in terms of defensive roles. Consider the mistakes he made this season eg. the one against arsenal (arshavin).:)

I still score Finnan higher than Arbeloa, in terms of Finnan's team work, diligence, tactical moves and ability to gauge the opponents' moves to block off any attack from the flanks. To me Arboloa is not that impressive, let him go..:rolleyes:

Don't agree there at all. Arbeloa has been great for us this season in defence and going forward - his partnership with Kuyt has worked very well. Certainly Arbeloa looks much better in his position than Carra.

Where's your source? It's been almost 2 days and there still isn't any such news available yet.

While I don't think he's better than Finnan, I think right back is a problem area for us currently. When Arbeloa is injured, who do we play there? Skrtel or Carragher? Both aren't good long term solutions. We should be adding players to this position instead of letting him go.

there was a story in liverpool echo that carra refuse to play right back against boro when arbeloa was injured,rafa had to stick masch at right back,u guys rememeber that was the game whr downing gave us a run ard,well i guess there is more to it than wat it seems,well i guess johnson frm pompey wld be a gd choice n it wld be gd to have barry cos he can play in defence as well.

read tt Glen Johnson is 1 of Pool's targets but askin price is nt cheap. have nt really been paying close attention to this fella when he was at Chelski, then Portsmouth (correct?). Is he that good? d few times i watched him he was like quite ordinary niah. Surely there r better buys elsewh??? :rolleyes:

I think the most impt thing abt the fullback is the crossing. Pace is not that impt. So GJ doesn't impress me much. Agree with Xgenre we need cover for the right spot. Arbeloa is quite an intelligent player in going forward although not flashy, and our leftbacks are good crossers. Babel is one of our worst crossers, hope he wises up if he is staying, and that is a big if! ;)
