the point of devalueing a currency is so that it makes it exports more competitive...things are not so much priced at usd but traded at usd...eg 1 tonne of rice wase 100mill a tonne for eg..now devalued so now export is 1% cheaper. Inflation figure is caluated based on all consumption domestic, goverment and consumption of domestic goods. Inflation is not a significant consideration when deciding to devalue a currency, changeing the interest rate is what is used to conbat inflation. Devalueing a currency is used to affect the balance of trade thru making the exports more attractive thu volume..ie exports cheaper imports more expensive..but the problem is that the so called middle class or poor...not the dirt poor...they have vk and foreigners who buy these exports for them.

On another matter....id like to ask people this question...here in vn as its not common to have purchases by installments..tho its growing in popularity, its often to have people buy goods like phones or depreciating assets worth 3-6mths income. And looking at the thread matters of teh heart, it is common for guys to complain that their gf/wife is costing them too much money ..and the advice is can they afford her blah blah.
Im curious how much of your monthly income would u think it was wise to spend on a girl or to use a a cheong budget...or how much of you monthly income would u spend on a depreciating asset...not including a car.

for me...depreciating asset not including a car( 80k aud) i have never spent anything larger than 5% of my monthly income, and on girls 5-10%....

I spend 10% of my total income in accommodation, utilities, entertainment(drinks, sex) and meals. Car, petrol provided by company.

Using a lame/laymen example, in petrol dollar imposed by big mafia of the world, importing petrol used to be USD 1 and sell at 21,000VND and now importing petrol is still USD 1 but need to sell 21,100VND. Funny you should ask that... recently my No. 2 joked that she would be my 'osim' for an amount per month that translated to between 5-7% of my monthly income... I asked if osim duties included bearing a child, she laughed.
