have u tt $ over using western union? seems like their tt rate is only S$1 compared to S$18 for the rest.

any bros who used western union can share info?

I had used western union before and you have to remit the money directly to your China bank account for the fee of $1. You will receive the within 2-3 hrs later. Hope the above helps. Cheers...:D

Western Union's administration charge for doing the transfer may be lower - but their Rmb / SGD exchange rate is not as good as the rate you can get at the PPC TT agents.

So you should do your own calculations - if remitting small amounts, the lower admin charge would be ok for remitting at Western Union. If remitting larger amounts of money, it may be better to get a good Rmb / SGD exchange rate.

Re: Chinese RMB rates..

A point to add. If you are making transfer directly to bank account for the first time, you will be given a number for the recipient to call and the recipient also have to prepare all neccessary info like his/her i/c no., bank's name, account no. & MTCN no. (given by staff of S'pore office). The recipient will have 2-3hrs till 3days to call for verification before the money being deposit into the account. After the first time verification, no more verification to be down on the subsequent remit to the same account number same recipient.

I had made a remit on Monday evening and the exchange rate is 4.473 while ppl park centre is 4.48.

Hope the above experience are able to help bros to reduce cost on remitting money to China. Cheers...:D

You can try the alley behind Hua che, like the mama stall kind of shops. Also if you walk to the start of LHL make a left and there a shao kao place at night with again mama shop kind of stall (go early before they shut) and can change RMB there.

Tried to w/d from BOC but failed, construction bank of China i think at the end of LHL on the left near the bus terminal, UOB ATM card works there.

Hope this helps.

25/03/09 rates might be even better. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the days I'll change foreign currency. Always have the best rates for the week.
