The Chinese actually treat them well and are willing to throw money at them. Of course you wouldn't know since you haven't been to Bokeo before :p

Safe and ok for me because I had someone to look after me.
The girls are nice and wild from being high. The farms are like a disco and the music go on to sunrise and the girls still party in pajamas :D
Everything including food is expensive and certainly not for cheap charlies.
The Chinese kids there know how to throw money around.
I know a girl who made enough in a year to build a pretty nice house in her village. Just bring Chinese RMB :p

V interesting. How expensive are things compared with say bangkok or other city. The Chinese do illegal stuff and thus can spend like crazy? Do u think it is safe for say solo chinese speaking traveller?

There is a whole Chinese controlled Special Economic Zone in the Golden Traingle bordering Bokeo which apparently operates independent of the Lao Laws. So go figure.

Bokeo is also being promoted as a tourist destination so travelling solo or otherwise should not be "less safe" than travelling in other parts of Laos outside Vientiane.

Laos import everything. Inflation is in the 20's %. Vientiane is probably 30-40% more expensive than Thailand. Bokeo is more expensive than Vientiane. Again go figure :cool:

If you're a Cheongster, don't expect Bangkok Soapy service from Lao girl. Just treat them nice, regardless of being a dead fish or otherwise in the beginning, take them out a bit, treat them like a friend, buy them a RMB200 handbag or something. You might just get a surprise bbbj wake up call :p

Hi @avks, I hope someone can shed some light on this as I am sure this is very much on the mind of any potential traveller to Bokeo.

I myself, I travel to Bokeo at least twice a year for business. Prior to each visit, we will notify the local police and during each visit, sometimes pay a visit to the vice governor, just to say hello and keep a long lasting relationship going. But really,this is purely for business, not that I will feel any less safer if I do not have these arrangements. Back to your question about safety, if you look the regular asian Joe, speaks at least some basic Mandarin, I doubt you will have issues navigating around Bokeo safety.

As you can see, I've never posted anything about Bokeo, unlike Vientiane, as in reality, I have close to zero contacts regarding any chicken farm (if any) or any local F joint. When I am in Bokeo, my team and I normally have ladies delivered to our rooms by our associates. It could be a mixture of PRCs, Koreans, Russians, but I've never had a local girl in Bokeo before. Price, as per my understanding is close to RMB6000, but this is because as explained by an associate, this is the white mens price, as I do have many farangs tagging along with me.

So, my experience in Bokeo is not what a regular Joe would encounter.

Just one tip is that, if you were to ever visit Bokeo, casino or no, do bring in a lot of cash. I dare to say that the most glitzy of things can be found in Bokeo. Here, money talks and bullshit walks.

Tks Max80 for the sharing. It is v interesting that deep in Laos there is such an international supply of talents. I wonder are demand now affected by China's economic issues? RMB6K? That cannot be for local talent? Or maybe ur associates blow up the amount so that you can be impressed? 😄

I guess this place must have partly caused the drop in local talent in VTE.

In Bokeo, the Chinese are able to bring in anything they want. It's basically like you're in China. No local ladies at that price. All are imported in. I'm sure the price has been blown up as my associate commented that this is farang price.
But the ladies are beautiful... If I can use a gauge, they're similar to those mid tier to high tier ladies you would find at Black Caviar or Maria (soapy massage parlours in Bangkok)....

Have been go to laos thai border Savannakhet. Stay for few days. The expenses at there damm cheap.
