I remember Mickey Owen in one of his first games launched a two footed tackle on Schmichel (sp) and got red.

Gerrard too as well had red against the scum I think? He had one against Everton but that was much later.

It's a sign of greatness in Liverpool FC ;)

LEGEND OFFERS SOME ENCOURAGEMENT TO REDS

Alan Hansen believes Liverpool have a crucial advantage over fellow top four contenders Manchester City this season - the ability to play as a team.

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/lates...what-city-lack

hope the legend's analysis is right.

watched the spurs-manc game, the away team seemed disintegrated at times. lack of understanding between players ... obviously lacking the 'mo qi'. spurs was suay to tio post a few times. i think it will probably take ManC 10 games or more before they are a force to reckon. hopefully Pool can surprise by stealing all 3 points in a supposed fortress which the other 'top 5' could potentially drop points. :D

Lucas wins penalty, Cole misses :(

1-0 still, Babel who did nothing in the game with a sublime finish after being put through by Cole end of first half. ;)

1-0 FT, had some good chances (Poulsen's goal disallowed for no good reason) but did not do enough over 90 mins to get a bigger win.

a game of 2 halves...

1st half was awful, litter with misplaced passes and struggled to retain possesion... only highlight in the 1st half was babel's gol in the stoppage time, his finish was brilliant, remind me of henry.. hehe... hope he'll be given the chance and improve tis season...

but team performance improved in 2nd half, and should have won by at least 2 goals... expecting a hard game in turkey with only a single goal advantage.. we have to be more ruthless in front of goal mouth!!
think the introduce of torres gave our team some confidence and scared off the oppponent abit, esp after he stung their gk hands with his 1st touch...
a bad penalty miss by cole, guess he's simply too eager to impress...
lucas should have buried the free header... (does anybody notice that he has been earned us quite a few of yellow/red cards and penalty...!!)
jovanovic should have scored in the 1-on-1 chance...
riena pulled off a stunting 1-on-1 save, reminding everybody that last weekend was a one off freak incident..
poulsen was indeed cool as cucumber with possesion, but still rusty with his passes... he was unlucky to have his goal incorrectly disallowed...
kelly put in another great performance defensively, thou offensively din offer much... he might be converted into a central defender eventually, given his size...

only few weeks into the new season, but we've already in the recieving end of some referee mistakes....

Here's the official reason from the match offical why the goal was disallowed.
Joe Cole had fouled their goalie before Poulsen scored.

For most of the flops RB has purchase, few can consider themselves as 1st eleven at Liverpool.

Below is one of the successful one, hope the deal do not go through & RH be able to hold on to him ;)

Bro, I'm just concerned we didn't sustain our 2nd half pressure after that great 15 min spell. The season we finished 2nd, we did that and often got rewarded. It appears we lose confidence when the goals don't come and then we sit back to defend. If not for Reina, it could easily have ended 1-1.

I never had any doubts about Pepe.

Anyone else thought mistook Poulsen for Kuyt in midfield? hehehe - mind you this is looking at a small computer screen.

Sad for a player who came to Anfield with such a big reputation, much fanfare and high hopes. Hopefully he will return a better n fitter warrior. :)

I tink everyone loves kuyt - his hardworkingness is exemplary and this was probably the reason he was also consistently picked for Holland's first XI. But hand on heart, he is not anywhere close to being a world class player - when u talk about the greats we have had/still have like barnes, stevie g, torres, etc., he would never be in their company in terms of ability. He's not a match winner and not someone dat, as they say, "takes the game by the scuff of the neck". In other words, he is an excellent squad player (very reliable, hardworking, no ego issues) - but a squad player still.

Will be very sad to seem him go though (if he does).

That's probably not fair, bro. For a Barnes, there was a Whelan or McMahon; for an Owen, a Heskey. A team of world class players may not be successful indeed - Real and Man City are good examples.

The question is do you want a flair player at RW or a hardworking player like Kuyt? I would say, both. You may be at Barca one night and have to be solid on the right, and that's where Kuyt comes in.

Kuyt will also never complain if he is sat on the bench. He rarely gets injured. He doesn't need motivation to play.

And he isn't only a hard worker. As he got older, he has become more intelligent and while he will never have speed, he has done well in link up play.

Agree with u bro. But these rumors never seem to go away. Aquaman also may be loan out for more playing time but I hope it's not the end of his afield career. He sure have something to prove.
