Neutrals would say that it was a harsh result for WBA and Pool were lucky to scrape a 1-0 victory. Frankly I think Pool was quite disappointing and in all fairness, a draw would be a fairer result.

With the game dragging on goaless after an hour, I was thinking if it's gonna be one of those days which opponents pack the defence with a bus and Pool is not going to find the net again. We were lucky FT bailed us out with a classy goal.

Looking at our squad, anyone who knows abt soccer can see that we are not short of talents. 1st 11 + bench, most of our players are internationals and playing for the leading countries. but somehow we lack that consistency (which teams like Chelsea and MU maintain a high std) and have a tendency to perform miserably at times, like tonight's game. we gave away the balls cheaply, we defend horrendously at times, we often get outpaced by opponents, we lack confidence in our passings, we lack understanding, we seemed disheartened when we cant penetrate thru a packed defence.

This is not a new problem. It's like some curse that had been cast into the
team and had grown to becoming a 'notorious trademark' of Liverpool over the years. I thought the curse ended 2 seasons ago but it came to haunt us back again last season until now.:(

Bro we all know leopards never change their spots. People like you and I will never change too - except that we are always behind the club no matter who manages it or who is picked to play. ;)

agreed.. our players r so "static", esp the midfielders, players simply do move and get into space fast enough to recieve n pass on the ball, we're seeing too many of side-way passes or the midfielder would pass back to the defender again when they recieved the ball..

thot we've ditch this playing habit 2 seasons ago when we're playing exciting & attacking football... but it came back last season...:mad::mad:

Thank you Man City for choking up at Sunderland. It's ok u beat us 3-0 but to lose at Sunderland, that's what i call Rubbish! :D

And bro bo, agreed with u... with all the stray passes & poor defending. I think they try to adapt the RH tactics & formation, need a while to adjust and let's hope it will not take too long to adjust!

Cheers Broe! ;)

Give me the 3 points anytime. Since only the 3rd match, there is still room for improvements. ;-)

Bro,

I am one of those who thinks Lucas should be shown the door. Once again, he showed why last night when he couldn't win any balls, misplaced his passes or was always passing sideways or backwards. To be fair, Javanovic played no better, always wanting to cut inside such that Torres had to go to the wing to spread out the play and drag away defenders.

But the key for me is this, Javanovic is certainly a better all-round player than Lucas, who to me is a headless chicken and looks totally unbalanced, not to mention slow, when he is running around, even without the ball. I fear for Brazil if he is indeed their key midfielder...! Anyway, my take on why RH picked him last night was because he couldn't find anyone else other than Gerrard to partner Torres up-front. If he could have had Joe Cole last night, I really think Gerrard would have been in central midfield with Poulsen. IMHO, its a matter of time before RH lets Lucas leave the club for good.

Certainly not now, as we are too close to the shutting of the transfer window but perhaps in January, when RH has the time to look for a replacement. He does not want to lose the numbers in case of injuries, suspensions etc...But just you wait, once Joe Cole is avaliable again and indeed, when Raul Mierless (the new midfelder RH just brought in) is match fit, Lucas will warm the bench for sure.

On another note, 3 pts is 3 pts and its good to have it under our belt. Pity we couldn't improve on our goal average though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we needn't be grumbling about penalties not given etc too often, by the team simply getting the goals in open play and putting games to bed early.

still a lot of area and room for improvement.
but a win is still a win,3 points is the most important.
if you play beautifully but in the end, only get 1 point or lose, then it is no good.

I believe 99% of the guys in this thread here are true liverpool fans rather than some glory-hunter & troublemakers.

Supporting a club whole-heartedly & not blindly, accept criticism & opinions & not always wanting to listen to positive things which makes your day is what a true man should realized it .

Things don't always goes your way & learn to accept the truth & not shy away.

:p

I believe you...... and I can see the shape of RH's 1st eleven taking place. :)

Riena

Johnson
Carragher
Skertel
Konchesky

Dirk Kuyt
Meireles
Gerrard
Jovanovic

Joe Cole
Torres

Quite formidable on paper. :p

backline still kinda suspect. evident in the 1st 3 games this season. last nite our defence was exposed time and again. the WBA players were allowed space to take potshots. Morrison alone had at least 3 chances.

had carra lost some of his speed? seems a tad slow in recovering back. johnson loves to attack but sometimes tend to leave gaps behind. skrtel is a no-nonsense hard man like JM but sometimes the legs tend to move quicker than the brain.

still relish those good old days when we have the formidable partnership of hyypia & henchoz, with the then young carragher providing cover. :)

whilst i agree our backline is not good enough as compared to the (younger) carra and hyypia era, i tink de problem starts further up in the midfield when without ppl like mascherano (even if we hate him) can close down or cut off opposing team's attack. we need a strong defensive midfielder. and they better get a carra replacement soon - and i dun mean skrtel or dat greek guy. we need a new hyypia....

maybe we should watch de repeat telecast of how sunderland manage to prevent city from scoring.
