gosh, seems like a bad timing to go... hopefully still got somethings to do over there... T_T

Touched down at 8am. Went to the taxi stand n got into a taxi after asking the guy for meter. Then I realize I forgot to see the taxi company name. Anyway meter shows 131 I paid 140 n he keep saying no no 10dollar. I was like wtf? Then he show me another 100k n gave me bsck my 40k. To avoid any issue I just gace him the 100 n went down. Total 200k to d1. I also felt like he went a little further then he shud.

And thanks to h88 info on exchange at cho ben thanh. Manage to get a dam good rate. Was given 6650 for rm1. Much better then what I got in msia.

Just follow his direction to the stall. Its kinda obvious shop.

Will update fr if theres any soon. Hope this info is ok to share.

the chinese lunar 7th month is coming...I always donate food esp rice, biscuits and canned food to needy poor in hcm...this is a Vietnamese tradition...hope to do some good deeds...:)

I would like to open a bank account in vietnam. It has the option of either a USD or VN Currency account.

May I know which one is better so as to not suffer much exchange loss.

Why the need to open account? Working or going to start business? The Vietnamese banks will need to see your employment contract, work visa and other stuff. At least a passport with 6 months visa. If it is a current account, you need an introducer. Of course USD will be the best choice as VND is not really stable at present due to the current economic situation. Is it more to transfer to your girlfriend:) If you have an USD account, when you make withdrawals, the ATM machine will pay in VND subject to the bank's exchange rate. My advice will be to open at BIDV or Vietcombank due to their large network and being a state owned bank.

u can safely assume ANY place that has been reported online or is well know will ahve been raided...tho jerkface and maddog can attest, if u know where to go still plenty of places, just need local knowledge

Myself and another 2 buddies will be heading to HCM from 6th to 9th August ann will be stayig at one of the girl friendly hotel rec by H88, Hoang Hai Long Hotel (btw, its available for booking in Agoda, can earn points for free hotel redemption)... This will be our maiden trip to vietnam.. Well, we were chionging thailand and DG, they taste good but just wanted to explore viet as well... you know.. their smooth white skins,never ending legs, slim bodes... look damn tasty... and they are pretty wild for most i've met which i kinda like:D

Anyway, being a noob to a new territory, information is important... H88, volcano, altasshrugg and many other seniors here has done a good job in advising the area of interest raise by newbies! Your efforts are appreciated and many thanks to that!

Ok, main topic... anyway, just finished 40+ threads and got pretty disappointed on the last few concerning the raid... Due to the raids, i'm not sure if whatever i've read is still relevant:(...
Basically, the trip was to indulge in the sins of HCM... like what we did in other countries. As for the cost, we are willing to pay but we do not want to spoil market or become a cai tao... totally understand what it mean for idiots that pay excessively and spoil market to up their ego or pay off their guilt/sympathy...

The information i've gather from the threads seems to me that in order to have a good time in HCM, we really need the guidance from a senior who knows the place well. Hence, if there's any senior who is available and willing, we can meet up at HCM to have some fun together. We will definitely help out with the payments for your goodwill :)

But if we ended up on our own, the advices from the seniors for my top area of interest will help to make our trip worth:
KTV - the wilder the better.... bbbj, fj in the room...
Cafe/Saloon/Massage - Preferably bbbj, fj, if not minimal hj (dunno if you guys know any shops still in business after the raid?)
