Something is always very fishy about Vietnam with its secretive, coercive government and brutal undercover police.

With millions foul-smelling dead fish along hundreds of miles of beaches, severely polluted and contaminated air and water, massive anti-government and anti foreigners protests, police beating up protesters, including old women and babies, burning and looting of foreign-owned factories ect... Vietnam will soon see no more tourists or foreign investors.

Vietnam is fucked up in many grotesgue ways, except her women who never get fucked enough...hehe

Your rep pts are like my shares :o

Your prediction fails. Foreign investors will still continue to invest due to cost and undeveloped. Tourists wanting to visit North Korea and why not Vietnam?

Fishy... funny. Not so much an anti-foreigner protest as anti-Chinese, really. The spill supposedly from a Taiwan plant, but the ones who get fired up here don't seem to distinguish -- as long as it's East Asian, good enough. Case in point, when there was a round of protests against China about 2 years ago, they went and burned Taiwanese and Korean factories. Also, a human effigy hung by its neck on the front gate of the Korean school in district 7. Nice message: if China doesn't stop what it's doing in the South China Sea, we will lynch little Korean schoolchildren. The school closed down for a few days, as did other int'l schools in D7.

Here's news that is just a few days old and not dug out from 2 or 3 years ago. Might be a good idea to avoid eating fish in SGN.

Yes, a very good time to avoid eating any fish or seafood here. I heard the EU is now blocking import of fish/seafood from VN, and huge losses expected for fishing industry here. This had to have been something extremely toxic and large-scale to kill off this much sealife. Definitely not going out for sushi any time soon.

So as not to go too far off topic, I did not make my connection with elevator girl last weekend. We had a 11am date set, I got there 10.30 and SMS'd her (I like some down time in the room first), she replied she was getting her hair done(!!!) and asked if we could meet 2pm. 2pm wasn't open for me so I said ok how about tomorrow, she said she's moving to another district starting tomorrow, opposite side of the city  So annoying. I really liked her hotel. We talked since then, first time I've been friendly with a website girl -- seems she likes to talk (zalo) -- so I'll meet her soon over at her new hotel, see how that goes.

So I guess the girls get moved from district to district, like rotation. I've noticed one who I tried to meet in Go Vap once (I forgot passport) is now in D8. The girl with the great BJ from D8 (see my field report with pics from over a month ago) has now moved to D10.

This dead fish problem is now spread South to Saigon.

Looks like there is very serious contamination of the ocean and rivers all over in Vietnam.

This contamination problem may be long term and has dire consequences for the people of Vietnam. A large percentage of the population lives off fishing from ocean and river and processing the products for export. They will starve to death. There will be severe impact on the economy.
